Thomas sat down on the couch.

"What happened to her?" Jake asked Thomas, gesturing to the other room.

"She got attacked by a bear." Thomas said.

"Right." he replied. "So.. What's your story? Who're your parents?" he asked.

"I don't know." Thomas said.

Jake raised an eyebrow. "You don't...know." he repeated.

"I never knew my parents." Thomas said.

"Oh. I'm sorry about that." Jake apologized, embarrassed. "Are you hungry?" he asked, changing the subject quickly. "I can buy food for all of us."

"Its fine and no, I just went hunting before I found Rose." Thomas said.

Thomas sighed.

Jake looked down. "I better go." he said. "I need to check out that bear." He waved to Thomas and proceeded outside. When he was far from the house, he took off his shorts and changed to wolf-form.

"Bye." Thomas said.

Jake followed Rose's blood and soon found the scene of the crime.

Thomas got up and walked into the kitchen.

He followed the bear's scent and found its den. Jake cautiously entered the den and yelped in surprise when he found the bear dead and mangled. Coming closer, he sniffed the corpse. It's not even a day old... What kind of animal could have done this? he thought, taking one last look at the cave.

Thomas got a glass of water and took it to the back room and set it on the table next to the bed for Rose when she woke up.

Jake sat down. He had just changed into human form and was thinking about his discovery. "Huh. It seems I have to ask Thomas's opinion." he mumbled. He was a stranger in this area. Without another sound, he took off running toward Thomas's place.

Thomas walked back into the kitchen and got another glass of water then sat down on the couch and took a sip of water.

Jake knocked at the door.
