Wolfpaw padded near a tree and sat down, waiting for his mentor.

Lizardtail subtly appeared from bushed across from the tree, eyeing his apprentice, Wolfpaw. They were only aquaintenances, as far as he knew, but it'd have to do for now. "Wolfpaw, good to see you're ready for training." What type of training should they do today? Or maybe he should test Wolfpaw's skills first. He'd enjoy starting on hunting training, but with Leaf-bare, prey would be scarce and hard to find, and if by chance they did find prey, they couldn't afford to lose it in case Wolfpaw did something wrong.
-
ooc: I replied to this earlier, but it didn't work o.O
ib: Wolfpaw yawned. "I guess." He said unenthusiastically. He looked around. "What are we doing first? Tour of the borders?"
-
OOC: That's fine XD
IC:
Lizardtail flicked his tail, dismissing the young apprentice's bored attitude. When the apprentice suggested doing a tour of the borders, Lizardtail nodded gladly, forgetting about that option as well. "Ah, yes, good choice. We can do that first." He nodded at Wolfpaw approvingly.
-
Wolfpaw felt super excited. "Lets go," He meowed, trying not to sound too enthusiastic.
-
Lizardtail nodded, walking past Wolfpaw and beginning to lead him towards the thunderpath. That's where he'd begin journey. "I'm taking you to see the Thunderpath now-I want to show you how close you should get, and just familiarize you with the scents. I might as well, since you never know when you'll need to get to it or cross it."
-
Wolfpaw padded close to the thunderpath and smelt it curiously. "Yuck!" He hissed, but before he could retreat a monster roared past and he jumped. "What was that thing?!" He spat. "That was the scariest thing I've ever seen in my life!"
-
Lizardtail scrunched up his nose at the disgusting fumes of the monsters, and the thunderpath's scent altogether. "That," He flicked his tail, pointing at it as it roared away. "Is what you call a monster. Stay away-They're relentless, and usually won't stop for you in the thunderpath." He hadn't recalled a time where one had ever stopped for a cat in the thunderpath, but he didn't want to scare the apprentice. "Which leads us to our next topic. Crossing the thunderpath. Everyone will have to do it some point in their life, so I might as well inform you now." He said, padding up close to the thunderpath. "First, you look both ways. Twice." He looked both ways twice, and tensed his muscles. "And don't stop running until you reach the other side!" He didn't run to the other side, but just acted as if he was about to run, because he never knew what could happen.
-
Wolfpaw gulped. "Are we going to be crossing it..Now?" He asked anxiously. He was worried, there were so many monsters that it looked impossible. He took a step towards it and sniffed it again. "Why does it smell so funny?" He had so many questions.
-
"Oh, no, we're not going to cross it, unless you would like to. There is no need for it, and I don't see any reason to put us in danger for no apparent reason. It'd take us in the direction of Windclan and Fourtrees, which gives us another reason to not cross it." Lizardtail had taken Wolfpaw to the Thunderpath that divides Windclan and Shadowclan. "If we travel down a little south-east we'll be at the Shadowclan-Thunderclan border, and also right near the Carrionplace. I can take you there, if you'd like, although it's not much to see." He explained, and then moved on to Wolfpaw's next question. "The monsters release a strange scent that smells awful!" He had to shout the last part as another monster roared past.
-
"I'm glad we aren't going to cross it...What is the Carrionplace? I've heard it's where twolegs leave their leftover food.." He meowed nodding. He looked around and muttered under his breath "Those wasteful mouse-brains," He tasted the air and was distracted by the scent of mouse. "I think I smell mouse, Lizardtail, can I try catching something?" He was looking forward to learning the proper techniques of hunting.
-
"The Carrionplace," Lizardtail began to ponder how to explain it, when Wolfpaw practically did it for him. "Yeah, that's exactly what it is. There are a lot of rats there-Juicy and plump, but don't even think about hunting them. A lot of them carry diseases that could prove to be fatal to a cat." He sighed, thinking back to the stories he'd heard of cats that had been killed by diseases from the Carrionplace. Wolfpaw suddenly seemed distracted by something, and then he mentioned something about a mouse. "Splendid! We'll stop the border tour for this-I've been wanting to see what you know already."
-
Wolfpaw followed the scent of the mouse. He went around a tree and crouched down when he saw it by a rock. He stalked towards it quietly, wiggled his tail and pounced. He landed on the mouse, and bit it so it died. He picked it up and showed it to Lizardtail smiling.
-
Lizardtail watched expectantly, and grinned widely as Wolfpaw brought the mouse back happily. "Great job! Wonderful position, great skill-The only thing is, you shouldn't wiggle your tail like that before leaping. Although it might seem distant, prey will see that and leap straight out of your claws. I've done it before, believe me." He had a lot of experiance with missing in hunting, but that only helped him become the hunter he is today.
-
Wolfpaw bowed his head. "Ah, thanks for the tip," He meowed. "Where to next?"
-
"No problem," Lizardtail nodded his head, happy to help Wolfpaw. "Now, did you want to go see the Carrionplace? There's not much else to see but marsh and more Thunderpath." He said, looking up at the sky. Shadowclan kind of got the butt of the territory all together.
-
Wolfpaw nodded. "Do you ever wish we lived somewhere without marsh?" He asked while the padded through the mushy mud.
-
Lizardtail began to lead the way to the Carrionplace, when Wolfpaw asked him a question. "Good question," He said, pondering it deeply. "Yeah, I guess. But, if we, by some chance, did move territories, I guess I wouldn't be able to grow accustomed to anything else. I'm too used to this now." He sighed, sensing the difference in the scents of their surroundings as they got closer to the Carrionplace.
-
"I guess so," Wolfpaw agreed. "I'd rather it be a little more dry, though. I don't like water," He explained although felt a little mouse-brained after because obviously he didn't like water. Most cats do not, besides Riverclan cats. He was wondering how Riverclan was when he saw the Carrionplace in the near distance. "Yuck," He muttered. He trotted up to it and sniffed around. Something moved in the corner and he quickly glanced at it. "Rats!" He hissed.
-
Lizardtail quickly followed Wolfpaw, unsheathing his claws. "I hate rats. It was a bad idea to take you here, I'm sorry-Let's get out of here." He felt like a mouse-brain for taking Wolfpaw to the Carrionplace and risking injury by rats. "Come on." He began to retreat, walking backwards, not wanting to take his eyes off of Wolfpaw, to make sure he follows safely.
