  • A crystal clear day it seems, the perfect forget-me-not shade of blue is the sky, the wispy cotton candy clouds drift lazily by in the crisp leaf-bare season. Though the grass lays dry and heather brown, and the trees lay stark and bare besides the cold withstanding evergreens, a sense of eerie calm stills the air. Not a singl esparrow nor chickadee can be heard, even the welcoming familiar whisper of the wind, tip-toeing through the trees cannot be found.
Then suddenly, oh oh suddenly, a gust as strong as hurricane blew quickly over the landscape, and those downy soft clouds multiplied into a blanket of thick, threatening ashen gray. The wind beagn to howl through the bare branches, the sun having been eclipsed by the clouds, the landscape seems bare and dark. And then the snow came. Flakes upon flakes, swirling and twirling begin to fall to the frozen ground. But unlike the lovely one's on Christmas card greetings, the snow feel hard and fierce, directed by the overpowering winds.
And as the snow mounted foot upon foot, a slim, tiny shivering figure is covered. The young she-kit's crystal clear ivory pelt began to blend in to her surroundings, until she was trapped and suffocating in a wall, a barrier of snow. To die alone in the cold... if only there was someone to save her...?

  • The black tom stood out against the fierce snow, only the white stripe along his back blending. He had been out hunting, and was now trying to navigate through the swirling snow. He could smell something...It was not prey, but he could not pinpoint the smell, for it was faint, and muffled. He moved closer, trying to decipher the scent. He opened his jaws to taste the air, but got only a mouthful of white flurries. He spat, and continued searching for the mysterious scent. He could almost pick out the smell of...
    A kit!

  • Clawtear pressed against the swirling snow, her white pelt matted with the white wet flurries. Suddenly, she stumbled into a wall of snow. She dug into it, for she smelled something unlike any prey she'd smelled before. She found a small kit, and tucked her next to her side. "It'll be okay." she mewed. Just then, a handsome tom poked his head into the little tunnel. "Who are you?" asked Clawtear, curiousity swimming through her green eyes.

  • The black tom looked curiously at Clawtear and the small bundle of white fur, barely visible, next to her. "It's me, Slashpelt." He mewed, recognizing the she-cat. "Where did that kit come from?" He asked.

  • Clawtear said, "Oh, hi Slashpelt! I don't know, I found this kit in the... AHHHHHH!" She screamed. Lying next to her was the body of a dead white cat. The little kit began crying, and Clawtear tried to soothe her. "It's all right, hon. What's your name? We will take care of you."

  • Clawtear got up and took the kit into her mouth. She followed Slashpelt until they reached a clan. "What clan is this?" asked Clawtear, speaking around the limp kit.

  • "It does not matter, as long as the kit is safe." Clawtear said, rather quickly. They raced over to the Medicine den, where the kit was immediatly taken in. While they were waiting, Clawtear said, "I miss you, Slashpelt. Will you stay with me?"

  • Suddenly, the kit squirms, her snow white pelt seeming to be woven of diamonds flashing, revealing curious ivy like markings creeping in an onyx up her legs. Her eyes blinking rapidly, she wakes with a start and muffled cry, "Wha-?" She mews puzzled. Noticing the strange unfamiliar faces of the two cats, and finding her self in an unkown enviornment, she begins to tremble in fright and cold.

  • "It's okay. you're with us, Slashpelt and Clawtear." whispered Clawtear, reassuringly

  • "What do you mean?" Slashpelt asked Clawtear. He turned to the kit. "Shh. It's alright, little one." He murmured softly, his voice calm and soothing.

  • When the kit had fallen asleep, Clawtear turned back to Slashpelt. "I mean the old days, when we roamed the woods together, protecting each other. I have no one now."

  • She scowled and said, "They hate me there, and you know it. They thought I would be evil, just because of this!" she gestured to the silver moon on her chest.

  • A tiny black and white kit stumbled through the snow where had that kit scent gone?
Was it alone like her?Her breath fogged in the cold air. She stumbled through the snow looking.
Where had the kit gone? She knew it was around somewhere. She had to find it. It could be hurt... or worse, dead. She struggled, the wind was covering her in snow and she could barely see through the snow. She heard cats, and a kit! it was far, but she had to check it was okay. She pushed herself on in the snow and came to a opening with cats. She couldn't be seen, they could hurt her. She slithered through the snow and stuck by the shadows till she could see the kit. The white kit was as big as her, why was it shaking? was it okay? She tried to get closer when she stumbled and disappeared under a snow drift.

  • Dappleshine was out strolling when she saw two cats with a kit."Shouldn't that kit be at the nursery?" Dappleshine asked.

  • The small kit poked her head up out of the snow and saw the cats.
The kit seemed fine so she turned to go out the entrance when a shadow of a cat fell over her.

  • And suddenly, the snow white she-kit who's ebony, ivy patterened legs slinks away from the two older cats, engaged in their own frenzy of nostalgia. Frowning unobservant of her surroundings she bumps directly into the new comer who had been introduced as DappleShine, and the new kit who had appeared beside them.
