  • the wisp seemed to light up brighter at the acknowledgement of his being. "hello, mauve." he smiled, before turning back to flicker who seemed to be deep in thought. mauve said it would be able two hours before they got there at this pace and that was okay, for the most part. flick was fairly exhausted, though, so the sooner the better. that was for sure. "we are gonna have to find you a place to live... aren't we?" he spoke, raising his head up curiously, his gaze looking towards the smaller boy, for a moment. "I guess we can figure it later. I'm starved."

after a long while of walking, the red haired boy tilted his head, blinking is orange orbs as he looked through a window of a small restaurant. "what's this? what are those people doing?" he asked, rubbing his head, as he turned to mauve with a look of excitement on his face. he had never been to a restaurant before, or a town at all. all of this would take a lot of getting used to, especially when it came to having to be civil. for the most part, all he ever had to deal with were people that hated him, and so he hated them back. it was a simple relationship. but other people... they didn't hate him... right? he didn't know, but he did know if they showed any signs of it, he would kill them where they stood. more so, if anyone had anything bad to say about mauve.. it wouldnt end well for them at all. "are we allowed in there?" he spoke allowed, turning his head, to grab a piece of paper taped on the building. it had a picture of his face, and his true name, a bunch of numbers. "shit.." he squinted at the paper, as he looked at willow. "you.. you know what? let's go somewhere else." he burned the paper, just in case, to keep mauve from seeing it, though he didn't know if the boy had saw it or not. he could only hope.

  • what else should i say? what else could i do?

as they finally reached the city, mauve couldn't help the excitement that filled his body. he wasn't sure why he was so undeniably excited -- he had been here before, after all. but this time... this time it was different. he didn't have a time limit, he didn't have to hurry and get out before the plants began dragging him back. he could stop and enjoy the sights, the smells, the people. and that was exactly what he was doing. sticking closer to the taller boy, mauve allowed himself to take everything in, smiling softly and humming to himself in glee. at the question of what the people were doing, mauve peeked into the restaurant, his own stomach reminding him that he was also hungry. "they're eating! you go in, sit down, and someone comes and takes your order, and then they go and cook it and bring it to you! do you want to--" mauve was cut off by the sound of flicker burning something and hastily suggesting they find another place to eat at. nodding softly, mauve followed the other boy for a ways further, before stopping him at a small, hole in the wall restaurant. pointing to it, mauve smiled softly. "how about this one? there's only a few people in there, so it'll probably be more comfortable for you!"

maybe i am just too much for you

  • the boy had lowered his head, muttering quietly to himself. "they're going to find you and you're going to have to kill them. mauve is gonna see you're a murderer." he grabbed at his rugged sleeves, his pupils beginning to constrict, his skin heating up on it's own. "great. just fucking great." he clenched his jaw a few times, bits of smoke leaving his mouth before he quickly snapped out of it, at the sound of mauve. suddenly, he felt more relaxed and he was cooling down to his normal temperature, which always left him warm. "what?" he furrowed his brow for a moment, trying to recall what the green haired boy had even said. it had to be important, right? he blinked his orange eyes for a second, before just nodding. "yeah this'll work. i'm pretty hungry... I think." he was, but he was more worried than anything. not for his safety, but for the safety of mauve. if those fucks had even decided to find him, they could of very well of taken the boy away from him.. he would not be able to stop himself, then. he would literally kill to keep mauve safe. he didn't even know why. maybe he was just desperate to repay the boy for all the kindness. even in breaking the curse.. it just didn't seem like nearly enough.

  • what else should i say? what else could i do?

smiling gently, mauve was tempted to take the other's hand again, though he decided against it and lead the way inside. it was relatively quite in here, with only two other tables being occupied. no one seemed to pay them any mind, apart from glancing up when the door bell rang. they were greeted and seated rather quickly, and mauve found himself bouncing in his chair with excitement. he wasn't used to being able to sit down in a restaurant. since they were seated in a booth, mauve moved to sit next to flicker, both to try and help the other be more comfortable, and to shield him from everyone's gazes. "so, these are the menus! you pick whatever food you want to eat from here and tell it to the person who asks you. in a minute, the lady will come back and ask us what we want to drink, those are right here," the young boy pointed to the drinks and smiled. "i usually get the breakfast items. they serve some pretty good pancakes! i prefer their french toast, though! what are you thinking about getting?" mauve grinned, looking back at the waitress and telling her his drink order, and allowing flicker to do the same. "see? not so tough! but if you want me to order your food for you, i can!"

maybe i am just too much for you

  • as they were seated at the table, flicker crossed his legs, and pulled a menu closer to him. though he was listening to mauve, he didn't really understand all that he was saying. it made him feel pretty stupid, but it was nice to see someone so smart. his eyes narrowed at the words, which looked like a bunch of nothingness to him. "uh.." he swallowed back a lump in his throat, scratching at his wrist. "I don't.. I don't know.. I can't read very well.. like some stuff yeah.. but not this." he pushed the menu away, gently cross his arms, feeling rather idotic, as he looked down at the table, before just sighing. "do they have coffee? I need something hot to drink." he had to admit, he hated coffee, but he still felt really cold. it was a weakness and he hated feeling like that, but it wasn't like he could become less weak overnight. if he could, the world have been in the palm of his hand by now. "what do they all have to eat? do they have.. uhm.. cr-crepes?" he oddly enough could say the word fairly well, but he didn't care too much about that. he just wanted to eat and so they could go explore, away from all these people. "...mauve." he called out, as he rubbed his temple slightly. "I'm not scared of being around people. those people are looking for me. they put up flyers.. I don't know if you should... if you are safe with me." he winced at his own words. he didn't want to leave mauve, especially now, but did he have a choice?

  • what else should i say? what else could i do?

mauve had guessed that flicker might want something hot to drink to help counteract his lower body temperature, so on top of his drink, he ordered a hot tea and hot milk as well as the coffee that flicker ordered. crepes? sure they did! "i forgot that you might not know how to read! sorry! here, you can just look at the pictures of all the food and decide! they've got crepes, yeah! they've also got pancakes, breakfast platters, steaks, burgers, fries, all sorts of stuff!" it didn't take long before their drinks were placed on the table, with the woman taking their orders. mauve ordered the french toast platter with scrambled eggs and bacon, and some crepes and pancakes for flicker. he figured that two food items were better than one, right? plus, flicker looked to be starving, so the more food the better, right? the woman took their menus and mauve sipped at his orange juice, glancing at flicker. his head tilted to the side a little bit, a small frown lining his lips. it didn't take long, though, before he smiled softly, nudging flicker very gently in the ribs. "you just burned down my home. i have nowhere else to go. you're kinda stuck with me! besides, i don't think i'd get very far in the real world without someone strong like you to protect me. i'm not good at defending myself, but you'll keep me safe, right? and in return, i'll keep you from being caught by them! i think that's fair!"

maybe i am just too much for you

  • the boy just looked down at the food given to him, and the first thing he did was drink the coffee. he chugged the steaming hot beverage, without even flinching st the heat, before he began to eat the crepes, his eyes closing as he smiled and shoveled the food into his mouth. this was delicious! man, he didn't understand why the center never made stuff like that for him. he deserved such treatments! he deserved such luxury! his eyes looked back up at mauve, who spoke of how he had nowhere else to really go, other than being with flicker. and then.. he spoke of how he wanted flicker to protect him and that he wouldn't survive without him. flicker doubted that. mauve was a hell of a lot stronger than he thought and even flicker could see such things. "you want someone like me to protect you?" he repeated, before his eyes light up slightly. "of course, i'll keep you safe, flower boy! you can be like the king of the flowers, and i'll be your royal, yet ruthless knight!" he laughed, his eyes closing with a wide smile, before he looked back at his plate. "I think we should build you a new home in the woods.. away from everyone. that way you can.. use your magic without government people catching on.. and for like.. money.. you could sell your flowers. especially since you'll be able to grow anything, year round... right?" he was kind of curious to see more of mauve's powers at work. it was adorable, he had to admit. sometimes he wishes he had such a strong, yet delicate ability, but instead he was born and made of destruction. "i could intimidate someone to build it, and then force them to forget every knowing us, or building it. does.. that sound good? though.. we will need a place to stay for a few days..."

  • what else should i say? what else could i do?

seeing flicker's eyes light up, as well as the boy's wide grin and silly joke, mauve couldn't help but smile just as widely and giggle to himself. flicker really was just a kid, wasn't he? mauve doubted he had any kind of childhood, so he assumed he would get bursts of very childlike behaviors. that was fine. mauve was the same way. taking small bites of his food, mauve laughed again. "i can just make a tree house! i could make the tree house, and then you could get someone to install the plumbing and electricity and stuff. how does that sound? we might not have plumbing or electricity for a few days if we do that. we can always stay at a hotel for a few days to adapt and then do everything, though. your call, my loyal knight!" if flicker wanted to be mauve's knight, then mauve would love to place the prince. he would enjoy every second of it. despite knowing flicker for just a few days, he was very, very, very attached to the boy. if flicker were to get captured, injured, or lost? mauve would destroy the entire planet to get him back.

maybe i am just too much for you

  • flicker's eyes seemed to bright slightly at the mention of a tree house, as he finished his food. "a tree house? oh, wonderful!" he exclaimed, though his brows seemed to furrow, as he felt uneasy. his body shifted, as he swallowed back his feelings, ignoring any warning signs that might of been going off. there was no reason for that. he was just overreacting. "we should stay in a hotel for a few days, though. just to make sure no one follows us or anything weird." he sounded paranoid and honestly he was. he absolutely was, which was unlike him. he didn't get freaked out. he got angry, and well.. he was doing a lot to not be angry. it was harder than it looked. still, his eyes blinked a few good times as he stood up, stretching out and waiting for mauve to pay, and assuming he did already, the boy slipped out of the doors, keeping his head lowered to keep from drawing too much attention to himself. "you know, mauve, willow says that its pretty dangerous for me to be around other people. that's because all my life, as much as I can remember, I was always being hassled and taunted." he kept his voice low so no one around could of heard him speaking, but he was still loud enough for the pink eyed boy to hear. "when we get to the hotel, I wanna tell you some more about me. I don't think it's fair you are doing all this for me and I can't.. do anything for you. well, anything else."

    - really small timeskip -
maybe thirty minutes later, they had finally got into the hotel. flicker's eyes scanned around the room rather excitedly, as he allowed willow to come out and sit on the bed, too. weirdly enough, the wisp of fire didn't burn anything. it was pretty interesting to see, or at least it would be, had flick not been used to such things. sitting on the floor with his legs crossed, the boy looked up at mauve, with a tilt of his head. "are you ready to hear the story, your most royal highness?" he seemed to laugh quietly at the childishness that he had been presenting, but it was short lived. he had to grow up a long time ago, and despite remembering so easily how he used childish jokes and banter to distract doctors, nurses, guards and other federal employees, he didn't really ever get to be a kid. he was sure mauve understood just that. after all, his entire purpose was to take care of that gods forsaken garden. he likely didnt have a chance to be just a kid either. "well, I think this one is pretty funny, but the first time I really showed how dangerous I was, there was this nurse. she laughed in my face. told me I was weak and that I was nothing." his eye seemed to twitch as such a memory, before he just replaced his anger with a laugh. he had to calm down. "anyways, she got too close to me, and I reached up and grabbed her arm, and left one hell of a burn mark on it. I think she still has it." he laughed. "oh, I got dipped in ice cold water and they literally broke my arm. shit was hilarious. I was so.. sensitive back then."
