  • his head seemed to lift at the gentle tapping against the door. gods, he probably looked like he got hit by a train... at least more than usual. he was convinced he always looked weak and frail. gently rubbing his cheek, a weak smile seemed to twitch at the corners of his mouth. "did I wake you? I'm sorry." he immediately felt guilty. that was not what he wanted. to wake him.. to disturb the boy. he was supposed to be helping him, but instead he was shaking him out of much needed rest. his eyes slowly blinked, as nausea began to flood him, his body swaying just slightly, a small hum falling off his tongue as micah pulled his hair back. "thank you." he said, shifting himself again. rune just knew he looked absolutely ridiculous right now.. maybe micah deserved an explanation. it was a burden he tended to carry on his own.. especially since his parents made it very clear they did not wanna hear such things. he didn't know why the truth hurt them so bad. maybe then they would give up, and just enjoy life as they were supposed to.

as the cold hands found their way to his skin, rune leaned into the cold touch. he hadn't even had much time to realize he had gotten a fever. he didn't know why he didn't just expect it. after all.. this happened all the time. more times than he admitted to himself, and hell of a lot more than he admitted to his parents. "i feel horrible, heh." he laughed quietly, before rubbing his eyes from behind his glasses. "okay.. okay I think I'm done throwing up.. i-i'm really sorry about all of this." he turned himself slightly, managing to gently push micah off. it wasn't as if he didn't enjoy the cold touch, but this wasn't something he was used to anymore. "I should of warned you.. what's today.. sh-shit." he rubbed the side of his head, with a wince. "it's worse today.. hey.. you mind helping me? I wanna sit in the living room." he didn't exactly wait for the help though, and he pushed himself upwards, taking a shaky breath as his vision began blurry, and he started to see black spots, but he pushed his hand against the wall, staring at a single spot. he wasn't going to fall over. he had enough embarrassment today as it was. "this curse is trying to kill me faster." he muttered bitterly, before gasping. "i-i mean-! n-not kill! I didn't.. o-okay yeah... I did.." not exactly how he wanted this conversation to start.

  • when rune stood up shakily, micah was quick to jump to his feet as well, placing chilled hands on the smaller boy to keep him steady and from falling over. listening to rune talk, however, micah froze in his tracks. this curse was killing rune? rune was... rune was dying? ashen grey eyes stared at rune in disbelief. there was no way he was dying... rune was going to live forever. they'd be friends forever... neither of them would die! swallowing the thick lump in his throat micah found his hands shaking, his eyes tearing up slightly. yeah, sure, he had only known rune for a few days, but... no. there was no way. rune wasn't dying. he wasn't sick. well, he was... but there was a cure! there had to be, right...? "what...? what do you mean...? that's not true. you're gonna live forever and be my friend forever. neither of us is gonna die! we're gonna be together forever!"

    // oh micah please ;-;

also smh this is so short i'm so sorry

  • the look on micah's face seemed to make his entire body run cold with regret. he wasn't used to have someone around.. otherwise maybe he wouldn't have said anything like that aloud! now, micah was freaking out over information that he wasn't even supposed to know. "m-micah, please just calm down." he tried to get the other to calm down. he wasn't sure how much this was working, but he needed to talk to the boy. he couldn't keep doing this.. he was going to have a panic attack and then fill himself with false hope calm down. "just listen to me for a second, okay?" he sat down on the couch, to keep himself from passing out, and gently he tugged at micah's sleeve to try and get him to do the same. "i-i am.. going to die. i know we just met and we just became friends... and I didn't want you to find out like this but there isn't a cure to the curse. at least.. none that the counsel can find, or my parents." he sighed, coughing into napkin, wincing he tried to hide the blood within the small cloth. "no matter what happens.. you're a good friend. I've got awhile before this thing takes me out.. anyways. the counsel thinks I got until maybe I'm twenty one." he pulled his hair to the side, beginning to braid it so it wasn't all over the place. "let's just learn some more today, huh? you want to still go to school, right?" oh he felt horrible. he just told this boy that his only friend was going to die. though he said twenty one.. he didn't have that long. he just wanted to not make this such a hard blow.

  • no. it wasn't true. it simply just wasn't true. rune wasn't going to die. he was going to live forever and they would grow old together. micah wasn't going to lose his only friend. he wasn't. there was nothing that would take rune away from him. rune was going to stay in his life forever and they'd be happy friends forever. rune wasn't going to die. he wasn't. there was no way. if micah didn't believe it, it wouldn't happen. if micah just ignored it and helped rune, then rune would forget about the curse. if he wasn't thinking about the curse, then it wouldn't affect him, right? ... right? despite his best efforts, micah didn't sit down. he stared at rune, his lip quivering despite trying so hard to make it stop. tears filled the icy boys eyes, looking and spilling over onto his frozen cheeks. "you're not dying, and that's final. if you just don't think about it, then it won't affect you, right? so let's think about other stuff! we're gonna grow up together and we're gonna hang out every day because we're best friends and best friends don't die." micah's voice began shaking and he couldn't stop the sobs escaping his lips. "you're not allowed to die. you're my best friend. you're my only friend. you can't die. you're not going to die! you can't... I don't wanna be alone again..."

  • rune felt himself whining, his eyes closing as his body seemed to flinch back at how determined micah was when it came to rune being better. for him to not be dying. it wasn't that easy... if it was, then his life would be so much easier, now wouldn't it. "micah.." he pushed himself off the couch, ignoring the dizziness, before he just moved to pull the other in a hug. had he not been trying so hard to be strong for his friend, he might of just cried himself. "it's... its okay, alright? for right now, we don't need to think about that." he murmured, his eyes closing. "look, if it makes you feel better about this entire thing.. I have to admit you being around me makes me feel a lot less sick. i even stopped throwing up when you got in the bathroom.. so maybe if you just.. stay.. I'll be okay." he didn't know what he was saying, honestly. it didn't make any sense for micah to make him feel better, but he did, and that was surprising enough. by now, rune probably would of blacked out several times. that was just how it was. but he didn't.. and even he couldn't explain it.

  • micah leaned into the hug, his body shaking. after a few seconds, he wrapped his own arms around rune. he supposed that he didn't need the comforting. he wasn't the one that was dying. it must be so hard... micah couldn't imagine what it must be like, the fear that you might not wake up when you go to sleep. he couldn't imagine what the other boy was going through. he couldn't even begin to understand what rune was going through. sure, micah had had a tough life, but... that wasn't anything compared to rune. all of micah's hardships were in the past, rune's were happening currently. swallowing softly, the boy trembled, hugging rune tightly, but not too tightly that he would hurt the other. "do... do you think lady celestial would change your fate again if i asked her? she already changed it once with you being a pilot... maybe... maybe if i try to talk to her enough, she'll listen... right? she's nice, isn't she? she... she sounds nice..."

  • the red haired witch felt terrible. this was his fault. he should of just lied and said it was a practical joke. or maybe he should of just pretended it was a joke. or maybe he could of.. he didn't know. he didn't know what he could of done. micah was freaking out, now, and there was nothing that he really could of done. "lady celestial?" he echoed. amazing that the boy could remember her name, but he did said he had amazing memory. "she's one of ten gods. the goddess of magic and witchcraft. as much as we like to think she can change our fates..." he pulled back from the other, with a small sad smile. "our fates are our own. I've... already accepted... mine.." he said with a small wince as his head began to throb, causing him to sit back on the couch with a groan of frustration. he wasn't going to get mad or anything, but it was agitating him to have a headache right now. "micah i know its.. hard... but i'm alright. honest, i am." he didn't look alright. he didn't feel completely alright. but, rune was, in his head, alright. he had just been dealing with it for so many years that he was rather numb to it. not a great thing to be numb to, but it was just his life. "just come rest, okay? i know you woke up because of me." he gestured to the couch as he pulled his knees up against his chest, laying down his hear across them. he didn't wanna talk about this anymore. it was hard to be okay with dying, when someone was trying so hard to find a way for him to not.

  • maybe it was micah's stubborn nature, or maybe it was that fact he was already helplessly in love with the other boy, but he just couldn't believe it. he wouldn't. rune was going to be fine. he would live past twenty-one and they would go drink alcohol and have fun and live their lives. they would. there was no way they wouldn't be able to do so. sitting down silently next to rune, micah pulled his hood down over his head, hiding his face from the other boy. was he moping? not exactly. he was just thinking. grimacing. not because he was angry, but because he was trying to figure out how he would talk to lady celestial. would he just talk to her in his head? would he have to talk out loud? if he had to talk out loud, that was fine. he would do that when rune was asleep tonight. it was a good thing he didn't go to school today, right? maybe he would wait to try to talk to her until rune went back to school. micah, despite wanting to learn to read and write, wasn't in the mood for learning now. creating a soft snowfall from his fingertips, micah sniffled a little bit. "what does water feel like? or.. fire? what do cats feel like?" it was an odd set of questions, but, for some reason, micah asked them. something told him to. it made him realize that he didn't know what anything felt like. everything that touched his skin (or even got close) froze. but even if it didn't freeze, micah's nerves had been frozen and destroyed. he was numb. like when you get a shot at the doctors office before they put stitches in. or a dentists office.

  • "are... you okay?" he could feel his guilt rising. micah didn't deserve to feel so sad about him. it was stupid. it was ridiculous.. and it made rune upset. "you want to know what.. water feels like? and what else.. uhm fire and.. cats. okay. okay." he wasn't good at explaining anything, but if it was gonna distract him, he'd figure it out. "well.. water is.. I guess it depends. its like.. smooth. soothing. but it can be pretty dangerous. like.. it can drown you." he rubbed his face for a moment, coughing again with a wince. "fire doesn't feel good at all. it hurts. you know how you feel when something really messed up happens, and your chest feels all achy? like that.. but worse and on your skin. I actually got burned on my side before." he pulled his shirt, turning slightly to show the small burn mark upon his skin. "it was an accident, I think. the guy apologized later but who knows." he pulled his shirt back down, before frowning up. he didn't really know how to describe a cat, either. he had never touched one. his parents never bothered with pets, and though they had familiars, his mother had a crow and his father had a deer. it was not at all a cat. "I honestly don't know. I've never.. touched a cat before. it's on my bucket list, though." he absolutely had a bucket list. but what he didn't know, is that he would get plenty of time to cross stuff off.

  • listening to rune speak, micah tilted his head. the way rune described things made micah a bit glad that he couldn't feel most things. sliding off the couch, Micah sat on the floor, his gaze automatically following rune's movement as he lifted his shirt to show the other the burn mark. maybe micah was just twisted, but... he thought it looked cool. micah had always had a thing for scars and injuries, and despite not wanting rune to be hurt, he couldn't help but gulp at the sight. rune was really attractive, wasn't he? biting on his lip and looking at the blank tv screen, micah yawned softly. he didn't sleep very long it seemed. placing his chin on his knees, the icy boy looked at his hands. never touched a cat before? well, that was something he had in common. micah wanted, so badly, to feel a cat's fur, but... he didn't trust himself. he was so worried about hurting the innocent animals... it sucked. chewing on his lip, micah hummed softly. "i see... it's like everything can hurt, you know? it kinda sucks..."

  • "yeah.. it can. but it's okay because we usually are taught how to handle things gently, to keep from hurting yourself." he smiled slightly before coughing again, groaning with slight frustration. he didn't want to really be sick, right now. his hand gently touched against his rather warm forehead, just for a quick moment, before he looked back at micah who still seemed rather upset. he had to change that. he couldn't let the other be so sad. "hey, let's play a game, huh?" he forced himself to sit up more, as he rubbed his head slightly, as if he was thinking. he was, but not for a long before his sickly face lit up. "we are gonna totally need your powers, okay? it won't work without you. I just need to grab my coat and some gloves.. and take an extra dose of my medication." he stood up, shakily taking a breath in for a second, before making his way upstairs. he was quick to back downstairs with a cute went jacket, and gloves, holding the ice sculpture that micah had made him in his hand. it made him feel a lot better, less sluggish, for some reason, so he just held onto it for a while. "okay, come on!" he said excitedly, as he grabbed the boy's cold hand, pulling him out into the wide area of a backyard, looking up at the sky. barely a few clouds seemed to jump around, but that didn't matter. "can you make it snow? like a lot? we need a lot of snow for this game."

  • what else should i say? what else could i do?

micah wasn't sure what they were doing, but he knew for a fact that his heart skipped a beat when rune said this game wouldn't work without his powers. the smaller boy certainly liked to make micah feel important, didn't he? well, it worked. micah's face dusted with a very light pink, barely noticeable as he smiled to himself. rune really made micah feel wanted and needed... he desperately hoped that he could even return half of the favor. rune deserved to feel as good as he made micah feel. his blush deepened in color when rune came back downstairs in his winter gear. he looked so cute... all cozy and puffed up. like a mini marshmallow. seeing the other hold the dragon, as well as the return of color to the redhead's face, gears in micah's head began turning, though he didn't have much time to make more connections before he was pulled outside. lots of snow? he could do that. quite easily, actually. taking in a small breath, micah shrugged his own jacket off, lowering his head in slight embarrassment, though he didn't really have anything to be embarrassed about.

while micah wasn't ripped or jacked or anything, he was very toned. faint outlines of abs, a nicely toned arms. it was clear that he was used to getting things done by himself. and he was, honestly. he had to be physically strong to be able to control and lift the ice he created. although he could move it using just his powers, sometimes, he just liked feeling more human -- he'd create large shapes of ice, and push them around. the icy boy always made a game of it, like puzzles in video games where you had to push blocks of ice! with so much exposed skin, the air temperature really began to drop. the clouds that were in the sky darkened, with more clouds joining until it was obviously going to be a snowstorm. if he had known rune needed lots of snow, he would have created the snowstorm while rune was inside. he didn't even have to do anything before large, heavy snowflakes began to fall quite rapidly. it was like a blizzard, but without the wind. it didn't take more than five minutes before the ground was covered with nearly a foot of snow. shrugging his jacket back on, the heavy snowfall stopped, though micah continued to keep soft, gentle flakes falling. "okay... what now?"

maybe i am just too much for you

  • rune's eyes seemed to light up with excitement, his hands clasping together with a smile on his face. "oh this is wonderful! you know.. makes me jealous." he frowned for a moment, before his face pushed back upwards, before he set down the small dragon sculpture of ice, and sat down in the snow, beginning to build a small hill of snow. with a mischievous smile on his face, the boy began to ball up some of the snow and with a huff, he threw it at micah, laughing as it hit him. "come on! snowball fight!" he exclaimed happily, as he began to build a bigger shield out of the snow, hiding behind it, as he waited for micah to catch on. he hoped this would help. he didn't want the other thinking about his inevitable death. that was not exactly something he was very excited about, either. but he was okay with it... wasn't he? he had been for so long... but seeing the sadness on micah's face.. hearing his voice crack.. he wasn't sure anymore. maybe he would have to try harder. after all.. he wasn't exactly trying. his parents had been.. he assumed the coven was.. but all he did was think about ways to not seem sick. to be able to things for himself. maybe he did need to start looking for a possiblity. he would have to have that discussion with his goddess later, before he went to bed. she would speak back with him. the coven said he was lucky to hear her words.. and maybe he was.

  • what else should i say? what else could i do?

micah watched rune pile up some of the snow, blinking in slight confusion. when the snowball hit his face, though, micah seemed to get it. oh. a snowball fight? did rune want to lose automatically? he knew who he was challenging to a snowball fight, right? shaking the snow off his face, micah tilted his head. "um... rune? i don't think it's very fair for you to challenge me to a snowball fight... you'd lose pretty much automatically... maybe we can-- oh! hang on! i have an idea to make it more fair!" in the middle of his sentence, micah had an idea and grinned. the boy clapped his hands together and shut his eyes. the ground shook ever so slightly, and from the snow rose three large and slightly menacing-looking golems made of ice. micah made sure they had their own sentience, because if he had to control them manually, it would be cheating. but, because of this, they weren't as powerful as they could be. micah's creation is grew stronger when he was actively controlling them. but he didn't need them to be strong for this. he just needed to level the playing field so rune didn't lose immediately. "we'll do teams! you three are on rune's team! your goal is to hit me with as many snowballs as you can until i surrender!" the young boy said. the golems shifted silently, walking and crouching behind the tiny barrier next to rune. one of the golems worked on making the wall of snow larger -- much larger than rune could do on his own. another golem went to work making a bunch of premade snowballs, setting them in front of rune to be thrown. micah grinned and made his own snowball. "rune is in control of you now! listen to every word he says! you can command them now. are you ready?"

maybe i am just too much for you

  • he already knew that micah was amazing, but this was just unbelievable! his eyes lit up, as he looked at the nicely sculpted ice golems, his eyes looking back towards micah. "oh, I know you think it unfair but four against one, no matter how cool your snow powers are... this isn't really fair, now is it?" he lifted his brow, rebraiding his hair, shaking his head. "but if you want.. we will do it your way." he turned to the golems, moving around to look at them, gently touching them, with a hum of excitement. this was truly amazing. if he had ever tried to do soemthing like this, he would of been on his ass, so out of energy. micah was so lucky.. he had no idea. and rune was just so fascinated by the frosted boy. he turned to grab another snow ball, turning towards the golems and whispering to them. "one of you over there, and one here.. and the other go hide behind him. hide under the snow and throw as many as many as you can at my signal, okay?" he smiled as they walked away, before looking at micah. "hey, what do you want if you win? if I win... I want something really cool. a surprise from you. but mainly I just want another ice sculpture. and what do you want?" he asked with a curious tilt of his head. "it can be literally anything you want."

  • what else should i say? what else could i do?

an ice sculpture? well that was kind of a lame prize. micah was gonna make rune another sculpture anyway! in fact, he already knew exactly what he wanted to do for the other boy. micah opened his mouth to tell rune of his silly choice in prizes, though he stopped in his tracks. "anything...?" the boy breathed. a brief flash of rune bent over the kitchen counter flashed in his mind, making micah blush heavily. oh shit... gulping, micah bit on his lip. anything... he said anything... micah could get rune to do anything... nothing was off limits. he could ask rune for literally anything. "a kiss!" the forsty boy blurted out, his blush deepening to an even darker rose. "b-but... we both have to be naked..." was this giving rune the idea that micah was a pervert? maybe. could micah take it back now? no. did micah want to take it back? no. but if rune wasn't comfortable with that, then micah would change it. he wouldn't know unless he tried, right? so what if micah was a pervert? he was a growing boy. he needed things and experiences, right? besides... rune had no idea what he did to micah, right? the way he made micah feel... micah just wanted to give some of that back.

maybe i am just too much for you

  • the redhead waited patiently for the boy to answer, a soft smile upon his sick face, as he nodded. "yeah, yeah, anything!" his eyes closed for a moment, before he gasped, his eyes popping open. "huh?!" he could feel his entire body heating up, as his heartbeat quickening. "a-a k...kiss...?" he gulped nervously, blinking his eyes. he did say anything... he did, he did. and he couldn't back out of that- wait, what?! did micah just say what he think he said?! his stomach seemed to twist with confusion and embarrassment. n-naked? he was serious, wasn't he? "u-uhm.." well... he did say anything. no matter how weird he felt about it, he had to.. right? he would. he wasn't gonna chicken out... after all it was just a kiss, right? even if they didn't... have clothes on... oh gods this was going to be so weird.. so why did he want micah to win? was it because of the kiss, or maybe the other thing? he didn't know and he really didn't want to think about it just yet. it would make him way too nervous. "okay, micah. b-but only if you win, okay?" he rubbed his cheek nervously before turning back to the small hill he had made from snow, making a snow ball, gently tossing the ball and catching it a few times, before shaking his head. "alright. ready, set, go!"

  • what else should i say? what else could i do?

hearing rune agree, micah felt his heartbeat speed up even further. he had a reason to win. he had to win. looking at the golems he crated, and their new positions around him, micah was a little nervous though. maybe he should have just given rune one... if he had known they were betting, maybe he shouldn't have given rune any help at all. that was kind of a shitty thing to think but... now, with micah being able to have his first kiss on the line, he was going to win. he snapped out of his thoughts as rune counted down, eyes widening as the golems began throwing snowballs at him. with a small yelp of surprise, micah created a barrier of snow to protect himself from the onslaught, though he put it down just as quickly so he could throw some snowballs at rune. he didn't have to make them, he just commanded the snow to form into snowballs and hurdle towards rune. he did that with one half of his brain, while the other half focused on trying to dodge the golems. he was being hit with a lot of snowballs, but he wasn't going to surrender. he didn't even know if rune was being hit with any -- he was too preoccupied with the three other golems.

maybe i am just too much for you

  • the boy was quick to gasp, as a bunch of snowballs fell towards him, most of which he was able to dodge out of the way from, getting hit a few times. he was already so exhausted and felt like giving up, but the golems were doing so good at hitting micah, and he didnt want to seem like he was weak, even though he fucking was. he was so weak, and he knew it, but he didn't want micah to know that. coughing slightly, the redhead waited for the perfect opportunity, as micah was throwing snowballs himself, to throw one, hoping it landed on the boy. though, in doing so, he wss able to get hit a few times, tumbling back with a laugh, as he rubbed his stomach, with a small wince. it was painful, but he didn't mind it at all. standing back up, the boy waved his hands in the air, panting heavily, with a weak smile. "I give up! m-man, micah, you really are good at this." he took a deep breath, trying to catch his breath for moment, before he just nervously rubbed the back of his head. "I should of listened to you, but you know I'm just a little stubborn and competitive." he laughed quietly, before taking off his gloves, nervously looking at the ground. "well... i-i guess it's time for you to get your prize. i-i always keep my word." he smiled, though he couldn't understand why he was so freaked out by it. it was just a kiss. it was just a kiss... a kiss that he probably had been thinking about for longer than he would of liked to admit. a kiss that was really going to change his life.

  • what else should i say? what else could i do?

the second rune surrendered, the golems of ice shattered and fell to the ground. micah panted heavily, a snowball in his hand ready to be thrown. however, he let it drop to the ground as he bent over, putting his hands on his knees and catching his breath. he wasn't exhausted from using his powers, no, he was exhausted from running and having to dodge the absolute onslaught by his own creations. damn... he was getting strong every day. he won, though which meant... he got his prize... gulping heavily, micah stood back up and watched rune take his gloves off. swallowing the thick lump in his throat, micah shook his head quickly, approaching the other. "u-um... i don't think it's a good idea to get naked out here so... we'll just kiss instead... if... if that's okay..." it wasn't what he wanted, but he was far too embarrassed and nervous to take initiative. instead, he just nervously tapping his fingers together and blushed, looking at the ground shyly. it was just a kiss, why was he so nervous about it? it was his first kiss, sure, but... ah, fuck it. taking in a deep breath for courage, micah's cold hands grabbed either side of rune's face gently, pulling the other in and pressing their lips together softly.

maybe i am just too much for you
