The sun rose in the east painting the sky shades of pale pink and purple, glinting off of the beads of dew clinging to swaying blades of grass and flowering heather. Tucked away beneath one scraggly bush, just outside of windclan's territory in the unclaimed wild, lay a small lilac she cat. Dead. She had been there a while, long enough for rigor mortis to take it's affect and subsequently lose its grip again, leaving her as limp as though she had taken her last breath only moments before. The worn, gaunt frame was almost unrecognizable from the once sturdy feline, but there was no mistaking her identity. There in the rising sun lay Wolfrunner. Once bright and cheery yellow eyes shown blank and dull, staring unseeing into the sky at the last of the fading stars. What was left of her thick mane was matted with days old dried blood, hiding the gaping wound on her throat. The killing blow.

Maybe clan life hadn't been for her. Nearly half a moon ago Wolfrunner decided she was done. She thought brightstar being made leader would be wonderful, but with her complete change in attitude and personality it only brought uncertainty and frustration. And then Ivy left, that had been the straw to break the camel's back. So one night Wolfrunner slipped out of camp and didn't look back until she crossed the border into the wilderness beyond.

At first she had enjoyed herself. Though she missed her clanmates and especially her siblings, if only the memory of a past version of one, being away from what had become of brightstar freed her mind and spirit. She no longer felt guilty for not bringing enough fresh kill for her clanmates, she didn't have any responsibility for any cat but herself. Wolfrunner realized she liked it that way. But then something went wrong. A series of unfortunate events perhaps. First there was the rotten fresh kill, mice sick from twoleg trash or maybe pesticides, followed by sleepless nights and poor hunting. And then it all ended. There weren't any dramatics, one moment she had been hunting and the next a fox was on top of her. They fought for a time, but Wolfrunner was already weak and the creature easily overpowered her. It killed her without thought or remorse. Something scared the vulpine off then, too late to save Wolfrunner's life but her body would be hidden away for a cat to find her someday. And that was it, the wandering spirit would wander the earth no longer.

    Tldr

Wolf is found dead just outside of the territory, she has been dead for a few days at this point. She was killed by a fox but it's long gone now.

I hate to make this post but trad just isn't for me it seems. I really loved roleplaying with you all though, thank you for a warm welcome back to feralfront, I'll miss you all and your charries <3

  • When Brightstar had come back to her clan from where her soul resided in the Dark Forest, she hadn't expected kin to be missing. Lilypetal, Weaselclaw, and Rushheart were all present, but their baby sister was nowhere to be found. Search parties had gone on for a few days with nothing to report until finally, something.

She heard the news of the body outside of the territory. The warriors who found it had told her it was Wolfrunner, but she refused to believe it until she was able to see her face with her own eyes. With tears pricking her optics, the leader bounded across the moors until she reached the border, which she leapt across without hesitation. Maybe clanmates had followed her, maybe they hadn't. She didn't know. All she knew was that she was praying harder than she had ever prayed before. Please, please don't be you. I know it's not you. The blue-furred form appeared in her vision and Brightstar's heart leapt into her throat. It's not you. It's not you.

She now stood over the corpse, staring down at the familiar face with wide, glistening eyes, jaws parted in shock. "No..." This wasn't right. This couldn't be real. The last memory Wolfrunner would have of Brightstar is the tyrannical, evil monster that was Crowstone. She ran away with those images of her in her head, and died with those thoughts. How...How could she ever forgive herself? The calico's face contorted into an expression of agony as she collapsed, caressing the limp body of her little sister with her forepaws. She buried her muzzle into the grey fur, but it did little to muffle the screaming cries that escaped her. Her sister was truly dead.

// Wolfrunner was such a great character!! I'm going to miss her and you so much <3
