Theo couldn't help but feel the stress of the moment, quickly finishing up his conversation with his friend when Clarissa received yet another message and urged him to hurry. Time was at the essence and as soon as they got out of town, they would have at least a moment to rest. "Alright. Thank you, we're on the way now. See you soon." He hung up the phone, pocketing it, and walking back over towards his charge, of sorts, and cleared his throat. "I'll explain more in the car. I'm going to pack some things up, and then we can go." With that, Theo moved towards his closet and grabbed a medium sized duffle bag, stuffing all sorts of things in such as clothes, toiletries, etc. He made quick work of it, his abnormal speed propelling his throughout the room in a blur of color, until he was zipping the bag up. None of this was new to him. He couldn't even count the amount of times that he had quickly fled a city or town that he had been staying at within just a few moments, so Theo had made very short and efficient work of collecting his essentials. Still, part of him wished that they could stay as he glanced around the room. That was no longer an option, however, especially since he had allowed himself to get close to Nancy and Don. The idea of them in danger outweighed any other selfish reasoning. "Okay, let's go."
Moving quickly, but not too much so that Clarissa could stay in pace with them, he went down the stairs and through the front door without another word to his 'adoptive' grandparents. Now was the time to detach, though he had to say they had been his favorites of the Shelton family he had ever lived with. Now was not the time to dwell on the past. Instead of going to the Ferrari, though, Theo moved towards the garage, revealing a brand new black Jeep Wrangler. Compared to the red convertible, this would get them over any obstacles they encountered along the way. Moving as quickly as before, he deposited both of their bags in the trunk and opened Clarissa's door before practically just appearing at the drivers side. His face was almost set in stone the entire time, starting the car in one fluid movement and speeding out of the driveway as soon as Clarissa was in her seat and situated. This was part of his routine whenever he left a town; he became cold to the fact that he was leaving in the first place. Through effort on his part, Theo tried to push any emotions linked to humans he was leaving behind and he had the sneaking suspicion that he wouldn't be seeing Nancy or Don again, at least for a long time.
He was set on putting as much distance as he could in a short period of time, maneuvering almost reminiscent of some kind of race car driver as he sped around corners with expert skill. As soon as they could no longer see the gothic manor behind them, he decided it was time to fill Clarissa in, at least surface level. "We're going to stay with an old friend of mine. He's like me," Theo started, not saying the actual word 'vampire', but it was plenty implied. "His name is Matthew and owes me a favor from ages ago. You have nothing to fear from him, though. His diet is very... Unconventional." This was the understatement of the century. Though Matthew was a vampire, he hadn't consumed blood in centuries. He had been in contact with a shaman who told him of an herbal remedy that would keep him alive and give him the nutrient he needed that typically would come from blood. It did weaken his strength and speed a little, though he never seemed to need it, anyways. Living off the grid, he led a very peaceful existence.
There was slight hesitation as he urged himself to move forward with more of an explanation, clenching his teeth as he figured out what to say. "The Beaumonts are, like you said, an incredibly old and influential vampiric family. They have been linked to the roots of this affliction." Theo practically spit this out, knitting his eye brows together in a mix of slight discomfort and conflicting emotion. There was that pain again, though sharing the reason for it wouldn't benefit anyone at the moment. The less she knew, the safer she would be. Besides, his past love life was the last thing on his mind and he could only hope that they wouldn't run into his old flame. "If they're involved in this, the werewolves are the least of our concerns. They will stop at nothing if they believe that necklace belongs to them. If there is one thing they hate, it is being disrespected." More pain shot through his body, though he settled for clutching the steering wheel and keeping his face set on the road. Theo didn't have to say that he had crossed paths with them before; the feeling in his voice said that plenty for him and he was sure that Clarissa had figured that out. That was fine. However, he had to be careful not to reveal his brief employment by them. In that time, he had committed monstrous offenses that made his head reel.
Theo snapped out of his glum thoughts after seeing the obscured side road that would take them deeper in the forest towards Matthew's house. They were close now and hopefully they would be able to recuperate for some time. Clarissa needed to rest, he knew. It had been so long since he had been a human that he often forgot their needs and that they needed consistent sleep, not to mention that she was hurt. Perhaps Matthew would have some sort of herbal salve that could help them? He was always messing with that kind of thing. It had been a few years since Theo had visited his old friend. When he had moved to North America and out of Europe, Matthew had followed him and made his residence close to the town Theo felt the most comfortable in just in case assistance was ever needed. Theo had to remember to thank him for that later. As they drew further into the woods, the dirt road they had been traveling on disappeared into just grass and foliage, though they car made quick work of traversing over them, even if it was a bit of a bumpy ride. A small cottage was visible through the trees and Theo sighed in relief, pulling up behind a large bush nearby for cover. They were here. The brunette went over to the passenger side, opening the door. "We should be safe for at least a little while here," he murmured, almost to himself as much as to Clarissa.
Glancing at the cottage, Theo deduced that Matthew must be inside, so he simply grabbed their bags and walked towards the door. Before he could knock, however, the door swung open revealing a brightly smiling face and brilliant pale green eyes. "Theodore!" The man exclaimed, rushing the brunette and practically leaping on him in excitement. "Oh, I've missed you so much! Why haven't you visited?" A dramatic pout covered the mans, obviously Matthew, face and Theo rolled his eyes, though he was evidently much more relaxed. Ignoring his question, Theo gestured towards Clarissa and beckoned her forward. "Matty, this here is Clarissa. As I told you over the phone, we are being hunted by the local pack so I can't thank you enough for letting us stay." Matthew looked just as excited to see Clarissa as he had been to see Theo, though didn't jump on her as that probably wouldn't be socially acceptable (or, more likely, he would crush her with the strength of his arms by accident). "Welcome to my humble abode! Please, come in! You must be exhausted." The inside of the cabin was just as quaint as the outside. It was also surprisingly bigger, everything about it screaming coziness and comfort. There was a sitting area on one side before a simple fireplace where Theo headed straight for, collapsing on the couch and sighing. Even if it was only for a short time, sitting down relaxed was a gift right now.
