These past few days had been hard for her. Coldpaw was so young, so full of life and ready to take on the world! But it seemed her destiny had other plans for her. Everyday she woke up, and she was faced with the problem of her blindness. Every time she stood, she was faced with the obstacle of keeping her balance. She waited for others to walk by, or for strong smells or noises just to be able to leave her nest in the medicine cats den. And when she did leave her nest- there was hunting patrols, border patrols, races, contests... you name it. All of which Coldpaw could not partake in. She had never gotten the opportunity to train as a regular apprentice. She was okay with that to an extent. The stars had other plans for her and she could understand that- but that didn't mean sometimes she got down in the dumps. Her only friends were the adults of the clan and her beloved mentor. But even her beloved mentor needed her own space from time to time. That's why when Coldpaw had woken up on this day- she had decided to travel to ShadowClan and speak more with Grizzlypaw whom she had met at the half moon meeting and his mentor. What she didn't know yet is he had moved clans, but even if she had known she probably still would have come regardless. She just needed some kind of interaction- and they could always trade herbs too!

In her jaws, she brought Burnet. The herb was good to reduce bleeding. it also helped with urinary tract issues. This was a herb Windclan had a good bit of, but ShadowClan probably didn't. As well as that, she had brought goatweed. This was used to help treat anxiety and depression as well as sore muscles, bruises, etc. This was another herb more commonly found in Windclan- so she hoped the ShadowClan medics could appreciate her offerings. But aside from that- it had taken her a very long time to actually get to the ShadowClan border. She relied mostly on her nose and her memories of whenever she once was a kit with vision. In her hazy eye- she saw blurs of color that kept her from hitting trees and rocks. While Windclan didn't neighbor a border perfectly, she still made it to the edge of their territory within a couple of hours. it took a lot of sniffing and using context clues, but she had eventually gotten there. She had left with the sun was barely up, and now it was roughly lunch time. The sun would be high in the sky with clouds coming over and covering it every so often. It was probably going to rain soon, she could smell the clouds heavy with water in the air.

So there the alabaster female sat. She had sat down along the border (probably accidently a bit inside of it) with the two abundance of herbs sitting in front of her paws. The pink scars along her head and where her tail should have been were the only things that weren't white on the she-cats body. Well, that and her blind brown optics. She awaited someone to greet her.

    OLIVESLIP

  • WindClan wasn't a group in which he was familiar with. He had no friends there, nor family, and had never embarked there on a patrol to deliver news or collect supplies. WindClan was a complete and utter mystery to the naive youth, but he could still recognise their unique scent. The moors, breezy, grassy, free and open. He wondered what it was like to run through them, wind whistling in one's ears, but there was something about the ominous openness of it that made him uncomfortable. So exposed to whatever could be lurking about - where was any cover? In ShadowClan's territory there was plenty. Tunnels, thick undergrowth, tall reeds and flora growing by the marshlands. He much rather preferred it here, for this was home, as irritatingly muddy it could be.

Patrolling the borders was what Stagheart enjoyed the most. The long-legged, nimble-footed boy usually wandered along the borders that lined with ShadowClan's, almost always, for it was his favourite place to roam. Interesting things always took place at the border, interesting faces to meet. Sometimes dangerous, evident by the subtle rip in his ear and the healed scars that stretched across the side of his neck, an ambush from what had been an injured loner in disguise. He knew better now, albeit still naive. Even so, he wasn't afraid. He was a warrior now, and warriors were not cowards. The two words did not mix. Though, admittedly he was more reckless than he was brave. Perhaps he would adopt more sensibility as he grew older.

And there she was, an alabaster figure standing out like a sore thumb amongst the green and brown hues of their surroundings, one he was not surprised to see considering he almost always stumbled into a stranger on the border. The herbs in her possession indicated that she was a medicine cat, or a medicine cat apprentice given the fact that the blind molly looked rather young. The scent told him that she came from WindClan. But why? "Hello" Stagheart called out politely from his side of the border, a small smile creeping its way to his cream-coloured muzzle, unaware that she would not be able to see it. "What brings you to ShadowClan's border today?"

The scent was unfamiliar to her- but that would have been a given considering she was in a territory that wasn't her own surrounded by cats she had never met before, and never been around. Other than the gathering, she had little experience of other regular members of the clan. Granted; the half moon meeting had helped her meet other medics, it never had given her the opportunity to meet other warriors or apprentices like the gathering had. As the other appeared, the she-cat would offer them a gentle smile. "My name is Coldpaw, I'm here to visit Bramb-Grizzlypaw, and uh, Oliveslip? I believe that's their name." the girl said as she tried to rack her brain to remember the two. The apprentices name change was perhaps the hardest one for her to remember. personally, she preferred the name Bramblepaw over Grizzlypaw. grizzlypaw was just too scary. "I'm the Windclan medicine cat apprentice, I'm pretty much just here to talk and trade herbs. I brought Burnet and Goatweed! I heard Windclan has more of that than ShadowClan- so you might need it!" the girl purred as she would put her paw over the herbs at her feet to show him.

  • "So I walk alone down the darkest roads"

"The anthem of a bird with a broken wing" — Canarysong

"He's gone" another voice came as a black female with white paws, and dark blue eyes landed upon the medicine cat apprentice. A yellow feather entangled in her fur on her shoulder while a long scar was sprawled onto her fur. She slip to stand next to the other senior warrior while she dipped her head in greetings towards the medicine cat apprentice with an apologetic look in her gaze. "He stormed out, left with out saying goodbye. I am sorry you made a wasteful trip here." she spoke smoothly towards them, perhaps it had been best if Oliveslip had broken the news to the apprentice truth be told but, Canarysong saw no reason behind giving the information herself.

    "I am who I say I am"

    "Speak" "Thoughts"

  • ''Not completely wasteful. At least Oliveslip is still with us.'' Not so hypocritical as what Grizzlypaw had turned out. He claimed he wanted to be good instead he turned into something dangerous and she had a feeling they would be seeing him in future. The dark creature slipped out of the foliage having been watching for a while in the shades of the pines and the murky depths of the marshes. Just deciding to see where this would all lead as she made her appearance after the conversation had started. Blinking her gaze she would look at the Windclan apprentice and she wondered how the other made it here so far when she was blind and didn't have anyone to guide her. It was always a challenge when a cat was blind because of changing grounds and unknown environments. The wonder soon faded though as she sat down with the rest of them and merely dipped her head even though she knew that the other couldn't see her do it. Didn't much matter to her regardless and she also had a wonder at medicine cat apprentices coming to the borders on their own without their mentors with them. They were still just apprentices and she frowned lightly. ''It is appreciated I suppose. But why are you here without your mentor? Do they even know that you are here on your own?'' Negligent, Their problem.

She had listened quietly from afar, a bundle of coltsfoot in her jaws. WindClan’s medicine cat apprentice? She almost turned around and walked away. Whenever an apprentice got close to her or even let her teach them, something bad happened. Right? That’s how it seemed. Then again...this child traveled a good distance to come and see her. Oliveslip had always loved teaching, or just talking about medicine in general, and kids? She loved kids. No, she couldn’t just leave. She would speak with Coldpaw.

The small medicine cat slid from the foliage and out into the open, almost cautiously walking over to stand behind Stagheart, peeking out at the little molly. Stagheart was always nice to her, seemed to be at least slightly protective. But as she took in Coldpaw’s appearance, she noticed her eyes...blind. She was blind. And she brought herbs to trade. Her stoic expression softened considerably, stepping out from behind Stagheart and in front of her. “H-Hi...I’m Oliveslip,” she murmured kindly, voice muffled by the coltsfoot she forgot she was holding. Placing it at her feet, she looked back up. “Thank you for the herbs, e-especially the goat...goatweed. She would use some of it for herself. “I’ve got some fresh c-coltsfoot...you can have it,” Oliveslip offered, pushing it forward with one paw. They had plenty more - she could go and collect it later. “T-There’s a patch of horsetail near here too if you’re interested.” As Coldpaw had brought two types of herbs with her, it would only be fair.

She didn't like when people questioned her whereabouts. Even as a kit- she had always hated it whenever she was doing anything and other warriors were pressing her about how she got there or why she was. Now it was her mentor? The feline may be blind but she wasn't dumb- and sometimes she felt that way when others constantly drilled her about things she didn't deem necessary. Even if they were technically reasonable. "My mentor doesn't mind what I do. I barely even leave the medicine cat den, sometimes I like to go out on my own so I can feel at least somewhat independent again." she said as her thoughts would travel back to whenever she had once been sighted. Since she lost her vision, she often times found herself feeling like a bourdon. more the less- she felt like a child that would never grow old. She couldn't even heal others correctly without asking for direction. But luckily; she didn't have much time to focus on that by the time the medicine cat of ShadowClan had arrived. "Well- I'm sorry to hear about Grizzlypaw. Maybe he'll come back." she said with a slight smile. it was sad news to her, but the two didn't really have a bond so she wasn't very upset by it. Just another thing to add to her mental list.

As the medicine cat began to speak, Coldpaw's ears would perk up. She only wished she could see the other. "Thanks! What's coltsfoot used for? And- uh, horsetail you said? I-I don't think I know about that." the young cat said, shuffling her paws ever so slightly. As she spoke, she would let the scent of the herbs Olive had dropped drift into her nose. She was doing her best to memorize them as she spoke to Oliveslip. After she had wrapped up her sentence, she would pull the herbs closer and shove her own herbs she had brought to trade towards the voice of the feline. "I've only been the medicine cat apprentice for a moon, but after my-" she paused, gulping back the memories. "-injury... I did a lot of snooping around the herbs. I only know a few things- I'm not very good at much yet. I guess I thought traveling here would make me feel more independent- less lonely. Windclan is just sad now that Duckstar has died... A-and... I dunno. It's just sad." she said, her voice trialing off. Oh, how she missed Duckstar.
