Coldpaw had only been a medicine cat apprentice for a few sunrises. She didn't know very much, and surly it wasn't enough to hold a basic herb lesson, but that's what she had been asked to do for her weekly task. She assumed it was better than making bird noises, but only time would tell if it was something she could enjoy more than mimicking the avian community or just another task she could barely complete. Most of her herb training had come from her time recovering in the medicine cat den with Boasong and Birdbones. She had spent countless days listening to them talk to one another, refill herbs, heal other cats, order their sorts among other things. that was why Coldpaw had began becoming interested in herbs and had ravened through Birdbones' stock the evening before she had made her the medicine cat apprentice. She wasn't sure if that had anything to do with it, but she always thought the two were correlated somehow.

None of that really mattered right now anyway. What mattered is Coldpaw was standing outside the medicine cat den with cobwebs and a about two other herbs. The only herbs she knew well were the ones she had with her- she didn't want to teach anything wrong. She could only hope her mentor would stop by and aid her sometime later. "Cat's of Windclan!" she announced, her heart thumping as she addressed her clan. oh how she loved it! She wished one day she could address them like so but as leader! Unfortunately; for now she would have to address them as the medicine cat apprentice. She was learning for that to be enough. Starclan wouldn't have made her a medic if they thought she would be a good warrior. "I'm going to host a small basic herb lesson! Pretty much just how to stop bleeding 'n all that good stuff! I don't really know a whole lot so, uh-... Hang in there please!" she said as she would sit down on the dusty floor and await those to begin arriving.

BIRDBONES in case you wanna listen in and correct her <33

  • it took ivy a few beats of thought to figure out why coldkit was addressing the clan, before he remembered the clan meeting. she was coldpaw now, and she had a real job this time, no messing around. it was really impressive she already had knowledge she could share with everyone! ivy was excited for her. this wasn't the warrior training she once dreamed it might be, but ivy hoped she still liked this. hoped it made her happy.

coldpaw's lesson topic had ivy thinking back to the most recent dog attack, dark images of the warrior that had died there. ivy remembered trying to patch up blackberryfoot's wounds. there were just too many cuts, all too deep. ivy doubted his inexperience in handling the messy gauze helped much either. the memory still haunted him when he happened to cross that area of the moor. being able to do that properly..to help dress wounds somehow. even though he wouldn't fight, he could be of some use in conflict. a part of him still hoped terribly that he would never have to do that again. the pressure and stress was all enough to send him back to the dark corners of his mind where he figured he ought to leave windclan before he tied himself to something he couldn't get out of.

"hey" ivy settled nearby, mouth tipping in a strained smile. though it wasn't for him, he belatedly realized it was for coldpaw. simply by reflex, not much thought was put into it. the corners dipped back down and he wrapped his tail over his paws in an effort to soothe. the memories would go, as they always did.

  • Thanks for the memories

Lilypetal's ears pricked, a smile instinctively making its way on to her maw at the sound of a familiar voice. Coldpaw was going to be holding a session about herbs - and of course Lilypetal intended on joining! She had never really been interested in herbs much at all, but she guessed it would be good to know at least a few basic herbs in case an emergency popped up, and besides, she wanted to be there to support Coldpaw.

The creamy warrior bounced over, halting beside Ivy, waving her tail excitedly although she knew that Coldpaw wouldn't be able to see the gesture. "I'm here!" She called out, glad that she had portrayed her eagerness pretty well through her voice. Her light blue eyes never left the medicine cat apprentice, determined to give her her full attention. Lilypetal knew that she could close her eyes or stare at the sky and there would be no way of Coldpaw knowing, but it personally meant a lot to Lilypetal that she actively took part in this session. It was the least she could do for Coldpaw, one of the bravest cats she knew, and someone she cared greatly about.

    "Listen to me..."

Ah finally! Two cats were gathered. The voices rang familiar in the she-cat's ears. they twitched ever so slightly as she waited for a good time to respond in between them making themselves be known. She loved Ivy, and she loved Lilypetal! The two were some of her favorite out of Windclan, and everytime she seemed to be doing something they were the first to appear. She adored that about them, and she always made that known when they appeared! This time, she let out a loud purr and a smile came onto her face as she saw their blurs of color approach and speak. "Hey guys! Glad you could make it! I'mma wait for some more cats first, just so I don't have to pretend like I know what I'm doing twice." she joked.

  • He was the one to assign her this task and here he was. A little late, but here nevertheless. It was always good to know a little about medicine. Especially when it came to stopping the bleeding. Being able to stop bleeding could mean the difference between life or death. Heck, with what he got up to at night... He needed that information. Although, he would be lying to say that he originally thought of this weekly task with those intentions. No, his intentions behind this task were pure. If one could call it that. He gave her this task so she could better herself. She may struggle now, but being able to teach something meant you understood the concept. Granted, she had only been a medicine cat apprentice for a short time, but that shouldn't be something that stopped her.

A long time ago his dearest friend Blanche would mess up and he'd forgive her alongside Archibald. The three of them would test out different herbs and its effects. More specifically Archibald and Blanche would test different herbs and other things on him and they would take note of what happened to him. He was their guinea pig and he accepted that. They had never tried purposely to hurt him. Archibald was just a little insensitive when he experienced negative side effects, while Blanche would be more concerned and tend to him as best as she could. She would always apologize when she gave him something and he ended up puking. Those days were long gone though. Still, he should look forward to what Coldpaw was going to do.

Considering he didn't know Ivy too well he sat next to Lilypetal, who he didn't know too well either. He gave them both a flick of his tail in greeting, before he sat beside Lilypetal. Lilypetal was Brightstar's sister, so he found himself more at ease with that fact. Turning to look at Coldpaw he chimed in, "That would truly be unfortunate." With a chuckle, he added, "Oh, I'm attending this session too."

  • while herb lessons sounded really boring, cottonkit didn't want to be left behind. she was going to make sure she was better than everyone at stopping bleeding!

"me! me! me! teach me, coldpaw!" cottonkit chattered excitedly as she zoomed over, squeezing herself next to lilypetal after giving blacknight a particularly dirty look. herbs were not her thing and would most likely never be her thing, but she liked coldpaw a lot, so she was willing to give them a try! "oooh! what're these thingies?" she observed the objects coldpaw had out and, purely on impulse, chomped down on a herb curiously. she chewed it experimentally, made a face, and swallowed it regardless of its bitter taste. "icky!"

Cold may be blind, but she wasn’t deaf. When she heard cotton eat the plant, she could feel her skin turn white to match her fur. Luckily enough, cry herb she had wouldn’t kill you if you ate it- but it was used for inflammation and she wasn’t sure what the effect would be on a healthy cat, especially in the amount that Cottonkit ate. Oh, she hoped Birdbones showed up soon! “Well- uh... those were herbs used for bleeding, inflammation n stuff. One of them was cobwebs, then one was lavender- and the other was-“ she touched around a bit before her paw landed on it. “-still here thankfully. You probably ate lavender... uh I would have to ask Birdbones if it’ll make you sick but... why would you eat a weird plant?” Cold asked, trying to suppress her laughter and be serious.

Her mind, so focused upon the betterment of the spirit, had no concern with plants, and the medicinal field never held her attention with a firm grasp as well. She thought, as selfish as it would be toned, that the medicine cat's job existed to fret over herbs, not her own to concern herself with such 'trivial' matters. She only rested her hindside near the crowd with the silence of an undisturbed midnight forest's, upon which no cacophony would arise - in a quick track post. A smile found itself trickling upon her muzzle at the sight of the two, bumbling about, playing as if the two manfiestations of youth. She only opted to listen, more adept at observance than anything.

  • Oh? What was this? The Siamese molly was curious as the the gathered crowd. She knew Coldpaw was the new mca and really somehow a bit sad they wouldn’t share a den for a bit as warrior apprentices. Silver paw actually liked the youngster. But everyone had their own path in life, they just had to follow along their desires. “Hey, what’s all this?”

  • "You shouldn't- just, just eat things, Cottonkit," Birdbones scolded lowly, coming up behind the group, in as firm a tone as her airy, gentle voice could manage. "If that had been yarrow you would have been sick all over the place.[/b]" The ebony-furred medic seemed somewhat amused, but was still on rather a high amount of stress, firstly due to some of her herb store being ingested. She was rather infamous among their small circle of medics for liking to keep things in a certain order, and one of the kits eating a herb without being diagnosed to have it was certainly stressful.. it was only lavender, thankfully, which just tasted horrible.

"I'll- um, I'll help you out if you get stuck, Coldpaw," Birdbones murmured, brushing her feathery tail against the other in greeting and preparing to watch the little seminar she had planned. "Why don't you teach- teach the Clan what marigold does?" she prompted. Marigold would be one of the easiest to pick out for the girl due to its strong, flowery scent, and one of the most common she would have to remember. It was certainly the herb Birdbones found herself using the most.

  • Silverpaw wasn’t one who seeked attention, but what Birdbones had said definitely intrigued her. This was was training session about herbs? Now, the apprentice was nearly done with her training, so she didn’t expect much more. But this was good information in case of emergencies. One could never be too prepared after all. Especially with Bloodclan being so volatile with Thunderclan. Even though there were things going on she only hears rumors about, things could only be watched with caution. Of course, she wasn’t being negative. Just... practical. “I’ll sit here and watch if you don’t mind me here.”

Upon the arrival of her mentor, the apprentice would offer her a smile. But then, she had direction. Oh, how Coldpaw hated being asked questions she didn't know the answer to! Marigold just so happened to be one of the many herbs she had yet to memorize. She had smelled it, and learned of it, but she never could remember what the use was- even if she had been told a few times before. "Uh- I-I'm not very sure... Maybe to... help wounds stick together easier?" she said. Well, it was wrong but it was the best effort she could give. She was just doing the best with what little knowledge she had.
