Marigoldkit turned 6 moons old today, which meant she would be getting her apprentice name soon, as well as a mentor. She could barely contain her excitement as she pranced and pounced around camp. Practicing her 'hunting techniques' which were most likely better for moths and butterflies rather can actual prey. She somersaulted after doing a small leap in the air. Almost crashing into the entrance. She got up and simply shook the dust off her fur, continuing to barrel towards the nursery, planning on surprising Loudkit. She skidded to a halt when she heard a very distinct squeal coming from a shrub behind the nursery. She immediately dropped into a poor executed hunters crouch. Taking light paw steps towards the squeaking, as she got closer, the scent of a mouse filled her senses. She spotted the small brown thing about a tail length away- now was her chance! She pounced abruptly, but missed, so the mouse ended up getting trapped under her back left paw instead of her front paws. She quickly kicked it forward and gave it a large bite ti the neck. Taking it by the tail she proudly trotted into the center of camp to show off her catch. "Look what I caught!" She squealed, dropping the mouse at her paws.

"Dangggg kiddo!" Exclaims Pumpkinstrut as she strolls over to the younger feline shortly after seeing the catch. Usually, the deal with kits was to pretend you were shocked or their accomplishments were impressive right? Well- it sounded rude when you put it like that, but point was there was no pretending in the felines surprise. It wasn't often a cat made their first catch before becoming a paw, and granted the kill did look- a tad bit squished the kid still caught a mouse! "Not everyday cats catch their first piece of prey before becoming an apprentice, you should be very proud." And it looked like she was going to have a competitor soon for hunting! Not that she didn't have a few others of course... but if Marigold keeps this up Pumpkin will surely have a run for her money. "Why don't you place it in the fresh-kill pile?" She then goes on to murmur, a bit more excited about this than she should be. She remembered how amazing it felt the first time she contributed prey to the clan, her first kill had been a squirrel, went to one of the elders of the clan back then.

⋆ LOUDKIT ⋆
The energetic squealing that immediately was identified as Marigoldkit rang into the nursery. It was clear that the feline was not too far off from their den they called home. The golden bengal had been resting up in the nursery during the time Marigoldkit was pouncing on everything in sight. Loudkit was completely unaware of the opportunity that Marigoldkit had stolen during her days of slumber. But the familiar voice of her aunt beamed through the disabled kit's ears which jolted her awake.
Onto her paws, Loudkit trotted out of the nursery to find Pumpkinstrut praising Marigoldkit. Jealousy steamed inside the she-kit, not even being aware of Marigoldkit's success. A pursed lip swelled out in front of her upper one to speak volume of her feelings. This was her aunt, not Marigoldkit's. Pumpkinstrut should be praising her! Finally, the bengal noticed the brown scrap of prey beneath her best friend's paws. A shocked stare was all Loudkit was able to push out due to her thick cloud of jealousy. Her eyes widened extensively.
"You caught that?" Surprise was what filled her question, but there were still ounces of jealousy dripping in.

Marigoldkit beamed at the praise- no less the praise from the deputy! She held her head high as she pranced towards the fresh-kill pile, dropping the mouse she whipped around to the familiar voice of Loudkit, shock flashed in her green eyes as she heard the slight jealousy in her voice, almost masked with surprise. The kit pushed the shock away, refusing to let anything get her down! "I did! It was right behind the nursery- over there!" She exclaimed, gesturing to the spot where she had caught her mouse.

Like his sister, Owlkit was turning six moons that day as well, though to look at him any cat would think he’d been an apprentice for at least a couple moons. His bulky frame was streamlined by his length and height, but there was only so much those two dimensions could distract from his broad shoulders and wide white paws.
Rising to those very paws, he padded over to where all the commotion was originating from. He relished the warmth of the sun as it shone on his thick, long, and glossy dark brown tabby coat.Upon hearing Loudkit’s minor distress and jealousy, he rested his plumey tail comfortingly across her shoulders, even as his own amber eyes widened the slightest bit, his only outward physical indication that he saw what Marigoldkit had managed to do.
“Wow, well done sis.” He rumbled, as much as a kit can rumble, that is.
He blinked warmly at his sister, even as he shared some of Loudkit’s jealousy.
How is it that she just naturally fits in? Easily making friends. Getting praise from the clan deputy before she even starts training? Why can’t I? Why don’t I belong like she does?
