Well- this was her weekly task. She couldn't say she loved it, and she definetly felt as though Cloudwatcher had given her a task that would keep her occupied and keep her from traveling around and about. She knew that to be true actually. Cloudwatcher hated it when she elft the camp. Everytime she had wandered too far, Cloudwatcher had always been the one to tell Coldkit to go home. While others also told her that from time to time; it was mostly him that seemed to be the one to take initaive. She could almost forgive him for that though. After all she had been there when she most needed a friend and always seemed to make it up to her somehow. She was okay with him telling her to go back home- but not so okay with having to mimick bird noises for a weekly task when she could be exploring or doing something as interesting as holding a spar session. Regarless; she would shake the thought, making her way to the center of camp where she knew most weren't paying attention to her (being it was prime hunting hour and most of the adults were outside of camp).

She would open her maw, and attempt to force out a bird-like noise. The first few times she did it, she failed. But after a couple more tries it started to sound more and more like a bird in the trees. To her ears at least. However; it wasn't perfect and she was getting board. "This is so boring!" she shouted at no one in particular. The feline felt defeated. First she had lost her vision, now she would never be an apprentice and she would be stuck doing this forever or helping Birdbones and Boasong sort through herbs until she became dust. "I don't even like birds..." she said, her blind eyes falling to her feet.

  • a small huff of laughter escaped ivy before he could stop it, at the sudden warbles that sounded off from the center of camp. sometimes it sounded like a bird, and other times it sounded like, well..

he thought it was some kind of joke, a game of some sort. but when coldkit complained aloud to the open air, ivy wondered with slight bemusement if it was some sort of chore. the sable tom trotted over, about to jab at her twittering skills when he noted her body language that spoke only of defeat. ah... this was all starting to make sense now. an activity to keep her busy and in camp. a unique task this was, and whoever relayed it to her was right to keep it within camp. as dull as safety might seem, it was better this way. that didn't mean she was going to like it though.

"gmornin, coldkit! what're you up to?" ivy settled beside her. "i was taking a nap but some fiendish bird put an end to that" he couldnt help himself, chancing a glance at coldkit to see if it had cheered her up any. "their song was nice, though."

As Ivy approached her, Coldkit let out a small 'hmpf'. The small white she-kit felt defeated. And now; embarrassed. "This is my stupid weekly task from Cloudwatcher… I think he just wanted to make me look dumb." Coldkit said. "I would rather be taking a nap than doing this!" she shouted.

  • “d'aw coldkit, you know that wasn’t his intention” ivy huffed a little, agreeing that yeah, this activity was pretty embarrassing. he humiliated himself on the daily anyway, making so many careless mistakes about camp. with this on top of it ivy was sure he’d be announced official clan dullard. “he's a real knobhead sometimes but he means well. ‘sides, you're his favorite soon-to-be apprentice! i hardly think he’d go about making you feel the opposite” okay well ivy didn’t know if that was completely true but well he knew that cloudwatcher was pretty fond of coldkit. he probably thought she might enjoy this task. “you and i can go make some of those bird noises at cloudwatcher when he’s sound asleep yeah? see how he likes those.” ivy’s whiskers twitched with laughter at the thought.

but hm. a task was a task. even if it was a pretty dodgy one, getting the job done whether you wanted to or not was part of being a warrior. ivy was learning that the hard way.

a small twitter caught his attention, this one definitely a real bird’s. huh. he hadn’t really noticed the birds were finally returning with the warm weather. ivy tried to copy its call, a strange sound that didn’t really sound right in his ears. the bird twittered back in response anyway, a stream of warbles and chirps. “oops. hope that wasn’t offensive”

  • "didn't know learning bird was an easy task."

silverpaw purred making her way over to the duo. in short, she found the sight extremely endearing. but she wouldn't allow herself to admit that of course. with a slow rumbling purr in her throat, she nudged coldkit with a gentle touch of her paw. "so we meet again. i think i'll have to give it to you this time. you've certainly got the bird song down no problem. i'm beat in your amazingness."

of course, the slender siamese molly could only give it to cloudwatcher for creating a task such as this to keep the child busy. it was definitely entertaining at least. something a little less than dangerous.

Lilypetal bounded over, letting out chirps and twitters as she did so. They didn't exactly sound terrible, but they didn't exactly sound right, either. "Hi, hi! Are we making bird noises?" she let out another chirp, this one much longer and more drawn out. "Cloudwatcher gave you this task, right?" she focused her blue gaze on Coldkit. "I really like it, it's actually loads of fun!" The cream point let out another chirp, raising her two front paws and flapping them about as though they were wings, her tail swishing excitedly. Lilypetal was still a kit at heart, and she certainly knew how to enjoy herself.

    "Listen to me..."

Ivy seemed to know a lot more than Coldkit did. Maybe it was is time as an adult; or perhaps it was just because he was wiser than she could ever imagine for reasons that would never be announced. Ivy always knew how to make her feel better, and for that she was grateful. He really was a true friend, and she was always glad to be spending time with him even with horrible things like this being done. She sure hoped what he said was right, that Coldkit was CLoudwatcher's favorite apprentice-to-be. She was about to speak on the subject when Ivy mimicked a call and the bird answered back. Oh how she wished she were as good as he was! "Maybe you accidently told that bird it was ugly or something. Here- I'll apologize for you." she said as she would tilt her nose back up into the air and fill her chest with air. After a few moments of preparing her vocal cords, she let out the best bird noise she could possibly come up with, which wasn't half bad. But still- unrealistic and not as good as Ivy's had been. When she was done, she lowered her maw and offered the warrior a smirk, or wherever she thought he was she offered a smirk. "I said, 'sorry Ivy was rude he won't do it again'."

Upon the arrival of Silverpaw, Coldkit flicked her ear in amusement. She kind of liked this girl already! She was somewhat interesting and definitely made her want to laugh sometimes even if Coldkit was never quite sure if she was poking fun or trying to be offensive. "I'd like to see you give it a try!" she announced playfully, her nub where her tail use to be twitching in excitement. "I bet you can't do it!" Coldkit egged on, her light brown eyes sparkling with joy even though they had no real life to them. Coldkit had quickly gone from upset and embarrassed to playful, a switch she was often able to do with ease. It took little to coax her from her depression and her dark corners of her mind. Then she heard Lilypetal's voice and let a purr escape her chest. Oh how she loved Lilypetal! "Yeah, he told me to make bird noises. Guess he didn't think I was up to sparring." she said, her smirk fading as she thought of how much more fun she could be having if it wasn't for her size and her lack of eyesite. Then, Lilypetal let out a chirp that was almost as good as Ivy's. Either Coldkit was awful, or these two cat's were very talented!
