  • — Being able to sleep in their cottage was almost blissful. It had been so long that snuggling up against Mulder allowed him to sleep so soundly that he hadn't woken up till late in the day. His eyes had squinted and his head felt heavy from what he thought was sleep. Carefully and a little bit wobbly the councilman had left the cottage sure that his mate was off doing Celestial Knight things when he slowly began to cross the bridge to the second island. It was...a struggle to move and he felt more and more fatigued the longer he went. Was he sick? The symptoms were his clogged head and fatigue. It didn't seem like he was getting sick and he swallowed thickly, trying to wet his drying mouth as he stumbled onto the main island. His eyes closed and he sat down under a tree and that was when the splitting pain began in his head. His ears almost ringing as he whined and pressed his head against his paws. The world seemed to be spinning and he tried to take deep breathes. Gentle pants as the pain almost made him sick before he lifted his head and weakly he blinked, seeing specks of blood against the ground.

It took him a moment to realize what it was. His head swimming and exhausting and pain clouding his thoughts. His nose. More specks of liquid gold splattered the ground and he pressed his paw up against his muzzle to try and stifle it. Fuck, what was even going on. He was too tired to think about any of this properly but he knew he needed to get to Ana as soon as possible. Stumbling to his paws he started to make his way toward the medic's place of residence but he didn't make it that far. Stumbling against a tree where he sat down, pulling his ears against his pained skull.

  • ✦ ✧ ✦ The smell of blood terrified her. Almost every time, it was never for good reason that she smelled it. As she is ready to head out on her walk, it hits her like a truck, and it doesn't take her very long to find Barghest sitting against a tree. She's quick to run over to him, stopping and settling down her satchel as her blue eyes fill with worry. "Barghest? Barghest, what happened?" She says, looking at the gold blood around his nose. She looks over her shoulder to an NPC, "Could you please grab ATHANASIUS E. for me?" Quickly, her attention returns to Barghest. She brings horsetail to her mouth, chewing it into a poultice. Putting some on her paw, she looks to Barghest with hopeful eyes, "Allow me?" She says gently, reaching forward to gently apply pressure with the poultice to Barghest's nose. "Keep your head forward, don't tilt back," She says softly, trying to do her best to stop the bleeding.

  • The vampire had grown to despise the smell of blood. Against their better judgement, it always made them water at the mouth, saliva pooling upon his tongue and his fangs aching to sink into soft flesh. They guiltily thought about it when they were treating patients with wounds, and then the disgust and self-hatred would set in the moment the thought passed through their head. What kind of medic thinks about hurting their patients? Even the slightest drop of the stuff was good enough to make their head spin, which was why it took a lot in them to even approach when the NPC had went to retrieve them.

Athanasius approaches with their jaw clenched, their nose flaring at the smell of Barghest's blood as it trickled from his nose. The corner of their lips twitched, their eyes flicking across the other's face. Their fangs ached. They shook their head as they pause beside Aphrodite, having dared themselves to come so close while that disgustingly sweet scent of blood permeated the air. "What happened, Barghest?" Ana asked, their brows drawing themselves together as a deep frown finally settled on their features. Seeing as Aphrodite was already working on stopping Barg's nosebleed, they figured they would try to figure out what happened.

  • "speech." The scent of blood was enticing to Tempest too, but not because he was a vampire. While he had seen his fair share of fights, he more frequently came in contact with blood while hunting and eating. Not cooking or preparing his food in any way, on top of sometimes being sloppy, lead to bloody meals. It was a smell and a taste he was well familiar with, one that spoke to him of food and the promise that his belly would be soon filled. Sure, it was also correlated to violence, pain, and suffering, but it's connection to food was stronger to Tempest.
He knew he was having trouble hunting fully healthy food, so the scent of blood was promising. An already injured prey would be far easier to catch. Keeping his pawsteps light and his tails off the ground, he quietly drew closer to the scent. That was, until he heard the voices of some very much not prey creatures. Tempest paused, listening to what they were saying. Maybe they were hunting the same prey he was? After a moment, that was clearly not the case. Darn. He figured while he was already there, he'd go check out what was happening. Something was clearly up.
Seeing Barghest in such pain was a sight to behold. Tempest almost felt a twinge of pity, seeing as the other had been upfront in his help when the kitsune joined. Alas, he was't empathetic enough for that. With a small frown, he sat off to the side. He figured he wouldn't be of much help but was still curious as to what would happen.

  • Mulder is returning to the cabin after doing "celestial knight stuff" (which unfortunately only included bribing some young kids out of a fight with candy this day) to get his supplies for a sky watching session. That's when he sees a crowd across the bridge and confusion hits him as he trots a little faster on the behest of the scent of blood. "Hey, what's going on?" He's quick to answer his own question as he slips past the legs of an npc, eyes widening owlish as he scrambles over to his mate's side. "Bargh!" The fox places his paws onto his shoulder on the opposite side of the medics to try to give them room, brows furrowing hard as he stares at Barghest in concern. Since he's likely already been questioned verbally, Mulder just tries to comfort him as he waits for an answer and tries not to let the panic show through in his gaze. Had something happened to his mate's normal form while he was away? Mulder had never seen anyone else near the area where it was hidden away or scented any creature but himself around it so maybe it's not outside tampering, maybe it's something inward. That worries the colorful fox even more and he whines, pressing his nose against Barghest's throat in an attempt to comfort him but also staying at attention if he can help in any way. Last time Barghest was sick, he was growing his second pair of wings and it occurs to Mulder that maybe that something similar is happening now, but he's never seen him like this.

SPACE MAN SAYS [ TAGS ] EVERYBODY LOOK DOWN

  • — It's a rasp and a huff as he tried to make himself conscious enough to answer Aphrodite. He was trying to make himself stand up fully but he couldn't even do that. The tiredness washing over him hard and frankly all he wanted to do was sleep. Blinking his blurry vision as he tittered a bit he would stare at her for a moment as she placed horsetail on his nose. Why? The bleeding was coming from inside of his body not an external would and he wanted to say something but he couldn't seem to wrap his mind around the concept of speaking. So he just nodded and he watched as the golden blood continued to drip from his nose slowly, droplets that looked like liquid light staining the ground as he tilted his head slightly to the side. Thank goodness his stomach was not full of food cause he would have surely lost it and it would have been a sight to see he was sure. Slowly he realized a question had been asked and when he looked up Ana was there. When did they get there? He wasn't even sure and he swallowed through the dryness of his mouth before trying to lift his head up. ''Mmm...I just got a sudden...migraine. Fatigue and...nosebleed. The ground won't stop moving and...I just want to sleep....'' Not to mention his dry throat and he sighed softly.

Even more worrisome was that now Mulder was here to see him like this. He never wanted to make the fox worried about him and he took comfort as he pressed against his throat, tail curling lightly against the ground. ''I'll be fine...'' He tried to convince himself and his mate because he didn't want to make it into a big deal till he figured out what was going on with him. Was it a combination of things or was it going to be something worse was his ultimate thoughts.

  • Somehow, Athanasius' frown turns deeper when Barghest presented his symptoms to them. He must be feeling really bad at the moment, they could tell just from how his voice croaked when he spoke. "Here, drink some water." They said, bringing their satchel around to bring out the flask they always carried on their person. They had filled it back to the top not too long ago, luckily.

"When we get back to your home, you should have Mulder make you some honey lemon tea." Barghest made talking sound painful, and they didn't want to take any chances for anything else. As for his main symptoms, hm. "Has he experienced this before, Mulder? It seems awfully close to vertigo, though I don't remember it causing nosebleeds." They're mumbling aloud as they look through their satchel for anything that could help while they were out here. "Aphrodite, help him to his paws." They instructed the younger girl simply. Should she do so, Ana would try to help him along back across the bridge and towards his and Mulder's home.

Ana produces a few poppy seeds for his migraine in addition to lavender for the male's dizziness and faintness. They had also brought out a cloth, and would pass it on to Barghest to apply pressure to his bleeding nose if he were able to. "If Mulder makes you the tea, you can add this lavender to it for your dizziness or take it separately. For now, take these poppy seeds." They'd say, offering the small black seeds to the Councilman.

  • ✦ ✧ ✦ Aphrodite pulls away from Barghest once more faces arrive. She nods her head curtly to Ama, putting down her things and moving herself to the side of Barghest gently, pushing her body against his for some stability in order for Barghest to get up easier. "A-ah, feel free to lean on me," She says quietly.
