  • in most circumstances, anyone of her size would be drained of their energy after traversing all the way from the windclan moors to the city, but not cottonkit. she wasn't going to let anything get her down! although she was lost and hungry, her spirit remained untouched.

she was currently experimentally batting her paw at a roly poly, having just witnessed it curl up into a ball. when it didn't respond to her prodding she squinted at it, head tilted, before walking around it and intently staring at its unmoving body from a different angle. "hey, i can do that too!" she excitedly mimicked the creature and rolled herself up into a ball, head tucked under her leg. "look!"

suddenly, the roly poly unfurled itself! cottonkit gasped in surprise as it scurried away, flailing wildly as she gracelessly untangled herself from the vaguely sphere-like shape she had folded herself into. "hey! not fair!" she sprang up to her feet and chased after the bug, but not before it dove into a gap between a stack of cardboard boxes. growling, she swiped her claw into the space, which cased to box sitting on top to topple over and land over her.

she was encased in darkness. "ack!" cottonkit squealed in surprise, bumping her head against the side of the cardboard box. "why, you-!" she cursed at the box and angrily whacked it with her paw, her thrashing causing the box to shake wildly. the sounds of fury coming from the trembling box probably looked extremely bizarre to anyone who happened to be passing by.

  • [&] ASPEN

A bit bizarre was an understatement. The young tom had been doing his usual; taking a walk when he had stumbled across the ending of the kids act. He wasn't one for kits, he didn't love playing with them and watching them, but he did think they could be funny sometimes. While this was a very confusing scene to him, as someone who had just appeared, he also couldn't help but let out a little chuckle. He remembered when he had been that small and his sister and him had use to play games all the time with the small and strange bugs they had found. They use to find earth worms and have races. Those had been the good old days, the days he wished he could get back if only he could go back in time and change things. If he could've stopped his mothers fall, he probably would still have an incredible dysfunctional yet intact family today. But that was alright, not all things in life went according to plan. He was sure this kit dropping a box on her head was just another prime example of how crazy life could be over the smallest things. He tried not to reflect for too long though, as the kit could be in serious danger and perhaps even need help.

The tall grey cat would approach the kitten with the box on her. She smelled familiar- she smelled of Windclan. It was only then that every wire in his brain suddenly connected. He knew this kid! And he had known her from his days in windclan! When she had thrown a clan wide party... or gathering, he couldn't quite remember. It had been some time and so much had happened between then and now. He couldn't forget the bubbly kitten and her windclan-scented pelt anywhere!"Cottonkit!" he announced, hoping he had remembered her name correctly, "What are you doing here in Bloodclan? And with a box on your head?" he asked, a tone of surprise obvious in his voice. And almost glee. He sure hoped the child remembered him, or else he would probably be a little too embarrassed to continue having this conversation with her.

  • TWENTY FIVE FELT LIKE FLYING

"You know her?" Bullet questioned, arriving to scene moments after the grey tyro did. One of his brows arched slightly, a look of bewilderment plastered on his face. Aspen must've had some pretty weird, uh, friends. He thought, But, I guess that's understandable. It's Aspen we're talking about.

Turning to the kitten, who had cleverly fought a cardboard box, Bullet tried his very best to stifle a laugh. Who was this kid? She reeked of grassy moors and wildflowers, to which Bullet crinkled up his nose. What was she doing so far from her home?

  • It was pure luck that Asher managed to get himself out of camp, fighting against the dull throb of his injured leg. He had been letting the medics treat it, but he was getting sick of sitting around. Surely getting up and exercising his leg would be helpful for it? The last thing he wanted was the muscles there to atrophy from him not using them. And so, the senior member had drug himself from the train station, finally outside for the first time since the dog attack. It felt nice, being under the sun again. Refreshing.

As Asher limped about and enjoyed the warm air, he heard the fumbling of Cottonkit trapping herself under the cardboard box. He startled, turning towards the direction of the sound. Off the breeze, he was able to taste the scent of WindClan. Confused, he began to limp over until the box and two other BloodClan cats came into view. "What's going on over here?" he asked, eyes jumping from the BloodClanners to the kitten. Ah, so that was where the WindCla scent was from. What in the world was a WindClan kitten doing here?

  • cottonkit poked her head outside of the cardboard box, ears pressed flat against her skull. she resembled something akin to a snail, with the box still propped over the majority of her body. the kit responded to aspen's calls with a disgruntled blink of her mismatched eyes, lifting her head to squint at him in confusion. "yer know my name?" she asked suspiciously, not recognizing him for a few heartbeats.

then, something seemed to click in her head and she gasped loudly, a figurative light bulb switching on over her head. "aspenpaw!" she exclaimed in glee, scrambling out from the box and bouncing around him in energetic circles, cheering his name loudly. "aspenpaw! aspenpaw! aspenpaw! i found ya!" she would then proceed to try to climb up the tyro's side and, if he let her, nestle herself between his shoulder blades. "i was wrestlin' a super scary lookin' bug under that- that- that... uhm... square thingy, n' i kicked its rear real good!" cottonkit boasted loudly, though it had been very clear that she was doing anything but that. "i'm looking for my ma," the kit eventually added as an afterthought to answer aspen's question more clearly. "did yer go on an adventure like i am right now? i haven't seen ya at camp in a long, looooonnngg time!"

upon bullet's arrival, cotton's cheeriness fell and she regarded the male with a suspicious glare. for some reason she didn't like the way the kit talked as if he knew aspen. "who're yer?" she asked rigidly, anger flaring within her as the youth laughed at her. "don't laugh at me, meanie!" she stuck her tongue out at the cat, bristling.

the arrival of the third cat startled cotton, the senior warrior's voice causing the small kit to jolt in surprise. she didn't answer asher's question and instead looked up at aspen, waiting for him to answer instead. "aspen, d' y'know these fellas?" she asked quietly, fidgeting restlessly on her feet. she suddenly realized with a wrinkle of her nose that aspen had the same putrid, unfamiliar city-scent clinging to his ashy pelt as the other two did. it was partially why she had failed to identify him in the first place. cottonkit backed away and regarded him hesitantly, as if unsure if she was the same aspen she remembered

  • [&] ASPEN

As Bullet made his appearance, Aspen gave him a short nod, "Yeah, I use to live in Windclan, I had met her a few times." he said, answering Bullet's question even though he could see the obvious judgment from the other tom. He understood, this was a very odd situation indeed.

Then the she-kit began to climb his shoulder blades, around the same time he noticed Asher and gave him a half grin. Last time he had seen Asher, he had been hurt and trying to walk on his injured leg. It seemed as though little had changed. The tom let out a small chuckle, half of pain, half of thankfulness the kit had remembered him. Her claws dug deep into his flank and he couldn't help but wince a little. Now, this was better than being climbed up by an adult cat, but he hadn't expected all the attention that the small Windclan kit was giving him. "Yeah, I saw that! It was a pretty big bug, you seemed to get it pretty good! Ya know, before the box fell down on you." he laughed, offering her a comforting tone. He did not love kits, but he was realizing the more he interacted with Cottonkit that she was sweet. Same with Nirvana. Nirvana and Cottonkit were the only two that he felt an 'it's alright to like them' feeling with. Reminded him of his nieces and nephews he never got to meet. "Yeah I went on kind of an adventure!" he proclaimed to Cottonkit, trying to word it to the best of his ability. He didn't want to correct her on his name now being Aspen, and he didn't want to say straight up that he had left Windclan one day and just never came home. It made him feel guilty. "Yeah, I decided to join Bloodclan now! I know more people here. But as for you- I bet Windclan is worried sick! How long have you been out looking for your mom?" he asked.

Perhaps if Aspen had been a kit, he would have been out looking for his mom too. But he wasn't a kit, and he knew his mom had been dead for a long time. As for the she-kit though, he didn't know anything about that kid and her family. FOr all he knew she could have been separated from her mother near Bloodclan and she was just following back the trail. There were endless reasons why she looked for her mom, just like there were endless reasons she were here right now. "Yeah, I know these guys. They're okay, no need to worry about them." he said, offering some comfort.

  • *:・゚➵  "Aspenpaw! Aspenpaw! Aspenpaw!" Aspenpaw? Who in the world was that? By the sounds of it, it was some clan cat. She thought she could smell fresh grass on the air, almost jarring when you lived in such a place. Lettie felt her temper bubbling inside of her as she stalked to where she had heard the young voice cheering, thinking that trespassing cats were pleased to find themselves on unforgiving BloodClan territory. But when she turned the corner she only saw her rougemates and a tiny scrap of fur that stank of the moors.

The tyro approached with a wary eye, hesitant of the situation and if there were more WindClanners around that they couldn't see. After all, a bubbly lost kit was the perfect distraction. However she was able to put two and two together that this "Aspenpaw" was just Aspen, seeing how they interacted and well, obviously, the name was just shortened. She hadn't known that the gray tom once lived in the clans, yet that would make much more sense now given his demeanor. "Hey, Aspenpaw, care to give us an introduction?" She would sneer his way before returning her displeased gaze to the child.

  • "nuh uh, i let the box get me!" cottonkit argued, pouting in displeasure at the teasing, before tilting her head in confusion as aspen explained himself. she was extremely confused, but her tiny brain was working hard to process his words. "yer joined 'bloodclan?' but why? windclan's better, ain't it?" now that she had encountered an entire riverclan patrol and traversed through thunderclan territory in her search for her mother, it finally seemed to dawn on cottonkit that there was more than one clan. "bloodclan sounds super lame!"

at aspen's scolding cottonkit huffed indignantly and turned her head away, nose pointed high into the air. "they don't needta worry 'bout nothin! i can take care of myself!" she gave a shrug as an answer to how long she had been gone for. cottonkit left windclan less than a week ago, but the child had no sense of time whatsoever. "dunno! but i found a cool looking water snake n' made friends wit' a funny sounding' kid while i was explorin'!" her face fell a bit as she remembered her mother and when she spoke up again, her words were said in a hushed, uncertain whisper. "say, aspen. do y'think my ma's lonely? i left her alone n' now i can't remember the way back... i- i hope she's not mad at me or anythin'."

her fleeting attention was quickly snatched away by the arrival of a rather unfriendly looking cat. cottonkit merely blinked at the anger in the she-cat's eyes, confused as to why she was so.... angry. it kind of made cotton angry too! the kit looked back and forth between aspen and lettie, before feeling frustration bubble up inside of her at the way the latter spoke to the former. "my name's cottonkit n' i don't like yer attitude, stinky!" she declared, hopping around the tyro's feet angrily. "jeez, wha's the big deal! can't you jus' ask a fella somethin' nicely?"
