  • the wind haven had failed to captivate her, and the vampiress had wandered off yet again. slipping around the perimeter of mt kodiak and slinking through the sundran jungle, chess belle showed little interest in returning to the thunderlands despite the faint nature of the ruins' scent. save for vampire guy, they were mortals. wrathful towards "traitors", the definition of which was rather broad. geez, why must they be so uptight? it was amusing, but how could one be expected to thrive in such a rigid environment? the mortals seemed to adore their hierarchical societies, and really, their choice of lifestyle was their business. at the very least, their politically motivated antics made for an excellent performance from time to time.

however, chess wasn't the sort who vouched for the underdog. the femme wasn't apologetic for her desertion of the thunderlands, but she didn't begrudge them either. however, she had a new home in mind. some might remember her as the short-lived ambassador to the coven of elysia. some mightn't, given that the vampiress had squeezed in one visit before the group had erupted into violence. nevertheless, chess was rather fond of what she saw. everyone present had spoken to her, with most giving introductions. of course, she didn't remember the names, but it was the thought that mattered! besides, the quartet of faces were easy to remember. where her memory for words failed, her memory of visual stimuli was rather excellent. if not for it, then everyone would be an absolute stranger!

so here she was again, having ascended via the boat and now roaming across the island while gently humming to herself. seeking out anyone who might be wandering about.

/rushed cause i want my fucking lunch lmao

  • Athanasius was usually out and about at this time, however instead of being accompanied by any other members of their close-knit tribe, the vice-deputy was to be found completely on their lonesome. They didn't mind being alone; in fact, they preferred it over any company that could be offered, if only to give themselves the room to be able to breathe. The camp was suffocating, and society overall was their constant enemy— perhaps that was not too odd for themselves, a vampire? But truth be told, they had always been alone and they were too stubborn to change their views.

So here they were, basket in maw, waltzing about the main island in search of herbs, particularly that of mint. They found themselves wanting to prepare themselves some tea when they got back. Its taste wasn't great due to their preferred diet being the blood of living creatures, but its aroma had never failed to calm their frazzled nerves. It... still left them feeling normal despite being absolutely, obviously, painfully abnormal. They hoped that they wouldn't bump into anyone while they were out but as their shoddy luck would have it, of course the exact opposite would happen. They weren't surprised either.

"And you are?" A tired voice accompanied tired looking rose-tinted eyes, soft yet monotonous in nature as their blank expression moved nary a hair save for the slight downturn of their lips. Most others would have stayed where they were when they got off of the boat. They could clearly see that patience was not everyone's virtue, but they weren't the prickly sort about territory being trespassed. They couldn't be bothered to get all hostile about it. The energy exerted was unneeded and unnecessary. "This is the Coven of Elysia, if you were unaware..." They tacked on lamely, their tails lashing lightly behind them.

  • — The beast could attest to his own disliking of traitors. Those that thought they could abuse the kindness of the home that had allowed them to stay and have home there while also feeding off their lands. It was something he was very much against especially when the dual alliance system was abused. The beast had lived for a long while and he disagreed with the thought of dual alliances. It caused more problems then it did good. Causes split loyalties and he even saw others betray their home for the place that they had decided to split themselves between. Truly it was nothing but trouble in his eyes because no one ever knew when there would be a falling out between groups and then they would have to decide where they would go. Who they would support. The dragon found himself thinking on these thoughts when he noticed the medice of his new and beloved home talking to someone. This day the leviathan had decided to keep his paws upon the ground and to just tread lightly. Maneuvering was always a difficult task for him with this too long and too large body. Yet he was managing it all the same at the current moment.

He waved his furred tail in greeting to the bith of them and was moderately pleased to see that someone was possibly looking to communicate with them. Perhaps even willing to join them. After all the Coven could use the new blood. Blinking his oceanic eyes the pale dragon would settle down and give a small smile full of teeth. "Welcome, I'm Barghest by the way. Did you need something?"

  • Joiners are good. Trespassers? Adonael despises them. It irritates him when those who aren't a member of the Coven take it upon themselves to wander around the islands, acting as if they deserve to be here when they aren't committed to staying here. He doesn't voice the thought; it's one that's only been strengthened by Ver's capture and attack a month or two ago, but he knows it isn't one shared by many of his tribemates. The lion stands beside his two fellow Elysians, not asking any questions of his own. He'll see where this goes, first.

  • as expected, the populace began to take notice of the intrusion. one of them was a rather pretty vampire. yes, chess had a little knack for distinguishing mortals from vampires. the blood of her kin didn't kick up an appetite. to chess, the kitsune looked akin to a doll. devoid of the powerful, confident aura that many vampires boasted. at the very least, they boasted captivating eyes. the two mortals who accompanied the kitsune were of greater interest to her. one a winged lion with a shiny prosthetic, and the other the crown jewel of the line-up. dragons were quite simply magical. the four-winged beast towered over her. chess didn't shrink away from the mighty being. on the contrary, it seamlessly drew her attention. chess took her time admiring the looming figure, a serene smile being her initial offering to the trio.

then chess decided to answer the questions. "i wasn't aware of the name, but i know a thing or two about this place! i used to be the am-thingy for another group!" clearly, the vampiress gave little thought to her trespassing upon the territory. for all the talk of sticking to the border, few consequences arose from heading deeper. besides, waiting was boring! "chess belle, nice to meetcha all!" the she-wolf offered a playful little bow to the assembly. the name was hardly well-known. chess wasn't much of a player in agrelos. more-so a keen observer, roaming restlessly and vanishing without a moment's notice. the longest she'd settled down anywhere was in coloredclan, where she'd served as a deputy to the late nighttales. arguably a mistake on his part, as the vampiress didn't take the extra responsibilities to heart.

anywho, last question! it was a shame that the lion didn't offer so much as a hello, but it wasn't uncommon either. "no need, only a want." craning her head to make some form of eye-contact with the draconic creature, chess' gaze shone with open admiration. "i'm interested in joining! does this place have nice housing? you don't sleep under bushes, do you? that would be quite the letdown." chess' initial impression of the populace was pleasant, but that was bound to change. a creature like her most certainly did not belong in the ranks of a pro-clan. there was a valid argument to be made that chess was evil. at the very least, the girl was callous and untrustworthy. traits that would surely become obvious as time progressed. for the time being, perhaps she seemed like a bubbly adolescent.

  • ✧ — The line between mortality and the supernatural was rather blurry, in his experience. There was something to be said about inner awareness, and Paladin knew his was present; he wasn't a mortal in the traditional sense, but he didn't really know what he was, either. What was important to him was that he could live and breathe, spend his days in the land of the living under the warmth of sunshine and chill of winter snow alike, and not worry about a past that he couldn't quite place. When he joined the Coven, he dived into it immediately. He was enthusiastic in his adoption of the life they lead, and painfully curious. It was the reason behind his almost constant wandering around the camp and the islands. During such a spring-stepped stroll, he discovered a few Covenites questioning a new face which he did not recognize.

Pleasantly padding forth, the canine fixed his pale gaze on the stranger, his pointed ears catching her introduction. She wanted a place to stay! "The housing is very nice! Incredible cabins open for anyone to occupy. There's gardens and decorations and it's all pretty great," he offered readily, unaware of the general procedures of newcomers joining. He simply smiled his warmest and prettiest, tail wagging behind him. "Here! Follow me, Miss Chess Belle. I'll show you!" Camp was nearby. It was no trouble at all!

  • ✦ ✧ ✦ "Oh, you were an ambassador? You do look familiar." Says the young hybrid as she makes her way over, standing beside her father. Kindly, Aphrodite smiles at Chess with warmth in her gaze. She gives a slight nod of her head. "You are welcome to join the Coven. I'm Aphrodite, deputy and medic apprentice around here. I can answer most of your questions, should you ever have any." She purrs softly, her tail curling with amusement at Paladin's eagerness to show Chess the cabins.

  • "I suggest that if you decide to take up being an ambassador again, you don't trespass on the territory of the group you're visiting." It's all he has to say. He doesn't appreciate her being here, and if it was his choice, he would turn her away. As it is, he has no say in the matter. He brushes his wing against his daughter's as a greeting as he notices her take a place by his side, but otherwise says nothing more. he won't be giving her a welcome, nor offer to help her. If his tribemates want to, fine, but he won't be involved in it.
