As she padded out of the den she lifted her head, taking in the warm air around her. She could hear the rustling of paws as her clan mates woke and started their day. Turning her head to the side, Russet watched as a few warriors exited the warriors den and left the camp for the dawn patrol. She leaned down and began to groom her red fur as her leaf green eyes continued to scan the camp, making a mental note of the things she planned to do throughout the day.

First thing's first. Firedawn just had her new kits! I should go visit her. A soft purr rumbled in her throat as she thought about her older sister. Just thinking about her new nieces and nephews made her excited, but Russet contained her emotions to just her eyes. She sat and continued to groom herself for another few heartbeats before flicking her ears in the direction of the nursery. She could only make out the soft mewing of the kits. She must be tired. I wouldn't want to bother her so early in the morning after the night she had. With a slight nod of her head, the red she-cat stretched herself out in front of the apprentice den, allowing the heat from the rising sun to soak in to her pelt, closing her eyes and taking it all in with a soft purr. What a lovely day, if only to have someone to share it with.

  • EAGER-EYED IN THE MILKY HAZE

the girl had scrambled backwards, away from the apprentices' den, as russetpaw stepped out. she'd been nosing around for a few minutes that morning, curiosity about the new den she'd be sleeping in as an apprentice peaking as the day of her ceremony grew closer. round golden opticals focused on russetpaw, her soon-to-be denmate. she'd been so caught up in her exploration, and her exciting imagining of what it was going to be like, that she hadn't even noticed russetpaw until she'd almost bumped into the apprentice. "hi!" she chirped, bouncing up to the russet-colored molly with a smile. might as well get to know her, right? maybe they'd even become friends! "i'm jaykit. i'm going to be an apprentice soon, just like you!"

TWITCHING TAIL AND TONGUE IN CHEEK

  • *:・゚➵Russet's ear twitched at the sound of another cat approaching. Opening one eye, the russet she-cat lifted her head just as the kit stumbled to a stop, keeping herself from bumping into Russet. A soft amused purr rose from her throat as she smiled at the kit."Good morning, Jaykit. That's a beautiful name." Russet picked herself up and settled down on her belly, her long, thick tail swishing behind her lightly. "I'm Russetpaw." She mewed gently, tilting her head to the side as she examined the kit. "An apprentice!" She purred. "I can already tell you're gonna make a great apprentice." Her ears flicked amusingly. Russet could pretty much feel the energy radiating off of the kit. To be a kit again. "So Jaykit, what brings you to the apprentice den this morning?" She could already think up reasons for the kit to be here, but she'd wait for Jaykit to tell her.
