Honeyflower had assigned him his own task- To investigate something shiny that had been found across camp. The solid brown tom would cast his gaze from side to side, watching apprentices and warriors alike hurrying to their own duties. Some eager, some tired and some in a mix of both as they started their day, although him? His green hues would flicker away from the busy central, he had his mission for the day. Mudkit would make his way past clanmates, dipping his head in greeting and offering a goofy grin. Buried in some bushes? The young tom brushed through some of the shrubbery around camp, his body engulfed within the wild leaves causing him to disappear in the shade and allowing him a moment for his always present smile to fade. He wasn't an unhappy child, that would require him to feel some sort of displeasure or to feel at all really, he was just following what his father told him to do.. In hopes that maybe one day he could feel unhappiness, or feel joy or love.

A glint would momentarily daze the tom, he'd blink his optics a few times before focusing upon what had caused his distortion. A shiny item. The Havana brown moved quickly after his sights had locked onto the item, jumping over thin branches and pushing aside brush. There it was.. Mudkit came to a skidding halt and peered down upon it. It was something foreign, nothing he had ever seen before. Back into character- His ears would shoot up and his jaw would clasp around the item before he hazardly made his way out of the shrubbery. "Guys! Lo-Look!" The kit would drop the item as soon as he cleared the bushes, twigs and leaves clung to his pelt as he circled the item. It wasn't anything from the moor or forest, it was hard as a rock and circular. The brown tom would prod at a part of the object that stuck out, there was a click and the object popped open into two separate circles that were reflective like a body of water. Mudkit would stare at the two images of him, his green hues wide as he stared- That was him.. His simple round kitten-like face, with a lopsided grin that had grown into his signature smile but it faltered in that moment as he stared longer. Everyone could pull an expression so easily, because they actually understood what it meant to express themselves.

The brown tom would laugh, drawing back up his goofy grin. "It's like a puddle but cleaner! You can see yourself in it!"

  • squinting when mudkit looks in his direction, he sees rows of teeth in a smile but his unintentionally glaring face might put the other tom off, darting mudkit into the bushes. that was his place to hide and he didn't like that mudkit was going in there. not that the thin black tom couldn't do anything about it. despite being a moon older, he was still quite small, unable to keep up with the playfights. not having his older brothers size or legs, gorsekit kept to his nursery corner or skulking around the bushes in camp.

in a flurry, mudkit burst out at them again, making his teeth grit and spine rise. his pelt was now a mess, but in his jaw reflected off light, making his paws lighter for a second. "don't point that thing this way furbrain!" hissing in surprise, gorsekit scurries away from the beams of light the object sent everywhere. eyes pinching in scared concentration, mudkit is seen staring down into the object, transfixed. gorsekit feels a brush of sadness over his own spiked anxiety.

"can you clean mud?" gorsekit spats in confusion, keeping low to the ground to crawl over to the other havana brown kit. wary to look down, he tethers his body down with claws, neck creeping forward. a flare of amber eyes shine back in a clear image, showing confusion and fear. "there's another cat through there!" he hisses, paw batting at the object, racing behind mudkit when it bounced on the ground slightly. peering out behind mudkit, he glares at the object. "if the twolegs managed to make an object of clean mud they must be more powerful than we thought..."

"I'm clean aren't I?" The tom would use his name as a terrible joke, although in that moment he would take note of the twigs and leaves that he could see sticking from his pelt. His green hues would watch Gorsekit as the younger tom seemed to try and make sense of the object- He was so expressive, his tone, his face and body posture. All of it.. It was what was expected, it was normal. Mudkit would keep his grin, "Powerful, but dumb." He'd imply as he'd look over his shoulder to the black tom. The brown Havana would approach the object, "They made this object but then left it, now we have the power." His tail would swish behind him in an expressive motion, "It's uh.. It shows us, us. I think. What could we do with this?" He'd inquire as he'd look to his denmate.

  • "What have you found?" Batpaw hummed as she approached the pair of kittens. "Oh, it's pretty!" she squeaked as she popped out from behind Mudkit, trying to look into the mirror herself. "Maybe it's just for looking at. You know, for fun."

  • the shrill voices of kittens drew his attention away from whatever daydream he'd been lost in, dull eyes refocusing on the real world and it's inhabitants; mudkit, gorsekit, and batpaw, all staring incredulously at... wait, what was that? a rare tug of curiosity pulled him to his paws, sidling over next to batpaw, examining the foreign object in thoughtful silence. he leaned over it, staring into... his own eyes. it was his reflection, but it wasn't a puddle. it was solid, his paw dragging idly across the smooth surface of the mirror. "...weird," he commented with a sniff after batpaw. "twolegs are weird. who'd want to stare at themselves for fun? besides a narcissist."

  • "So this is the mysterious treasure?" Honeyflower piped up with a grin as she approached the group gathering around the strange twoleg object that Mudkit had found. She had been the one to offer him the task of finding it in the first place, and it seems his efforts had been rewarded. And now, it seemed, came the question of what they were supposed to do with this strange object. For a moment, Honeyflower peered over the shoulders of the young kittens and apprentices, catching a glimpse of her own face in the shiny reflective material - clean mud, was it? How strange. For a moment her amber-hued eyes paused on her own face, slightly tired around the edges but those notes of exhaustion hidden beneath a warm smile, the truth in the cracks only evident to herself, who knew her own mind and evidently her own face in some capacity. "Well, it reflects things, doesn't it? We found out today that it's shiny because it reflected the light that was shining on it. Maybe there's some sort of game you could play with it?" It was an offer, at least, because Honeyflower frankly couldn't think of too much to do with the object herself, but maybe the kits could find some entertainment in it. "Or perhaps one of you might think of it as a good gift for a friend or one of our allies?" she added, imagining that other kits in other Clans might take interest in it as well.
