    .Robinpaw.

Lilyfall hadn't been in ShadowClan for very long, but they already loved it here. The camp already felt like home, the territory was beautiful. They had been trying their best to learn how to hunt, and although they hadn't caught anything yet, they came closer and closer to making a successful catch with every attempt.

That was all that mattered. Lilyfall didn't rush things. They weren't angry or upset that they hadn't caught anything yet - that was no failure. They just needed to keep trying. The dark tabby firmly believed that they could achieve anything they wanted, they just had to be patient.

Spotting a small squirrel by the roots of a tree, Lilyfall dropped into a clumsy crouch. The slender feline then began to stalk the squirrel. At one point, one of their small, delicate paws hovered over a small twig, which Lilyfall tentatively stepped over. They had already made that mistake before, and they knew better than to do it again.

The tall cat was very close to the squirrel now, and it still hadn't noticed them, incredibly preoccupied by their nut. Lilyfall paused for a moment, before leaping.

Their paws grazed the squirrel's pelt, but the small creature then darted away, the feeling of its fur lingering on Lilyfall's paws.

Closest attempt yet. Lilyfall had never managed to successful touch their prey before. They were so close now, which was exciting. The tabby couldn't wait to make their first catch - they couldn't wait to take it back to camp and find out who was going to eat it. Lilyfall hoped that they liked it.

The dark brown tabby then glanced around, looking for more prey, more motivated than ever before to make a successful catch. They wanted to sing and dance in excitement - but they stayed silent, determined not to scare away any nearby prey.

Through the trees, Lilyfall could see the pelt of another cat, heading in their direction. They didn't know whether the other cat had seen them yet, but they raised their tail in greeting.

The cats in ShadowClan were lovely. Lilyfall didn't know any of them that well yet, but they were incredibly eager to spend more time with them. Yes, some of the ShadowClanners were friendlier than others. Some of them had been quite nasty to Lilyfall, just because they had been a kittypet before recently joining ShadowClan. Lilyfall didn't think that was nice, to judge someone for who they once were, or for their heritage.

Besides, Lilyfall saw nothing wrong with being a kittypet. Their mother, father and three siblings were all kittypets. Lilyfall had left to join ShadowClan for personal reasons - but they absolutely respected the life of a kittypet, and they hoped that one day, all of their Clanmates would respect it too. Lilyfall wasn't angry at the cats who had judged them for their past as a kittypet, the tabby just felt disappointed that they felt that way. Hopefully whoever was approaching now would be friendlier to Lilyfall.

         - Robinpaw has been having a fun time lately, despite the weird weather. Those clouds weren’t promising anything good, at least not for her. She was training with Valerianfire a bit, and she was learning how to hunt pretty good. Even when they weren’t training, she used up all her free time to chat with friends or train. Not for the future- no, the future was questionable. But she was having a good time, and wouldn’t let a second go to waste.

Hi, Lilyfall!” she greeted, carrying a mole with her. Being a clanborn she-cat, she had a visible advantage in such things. “Almost there,” she added with a light smirk, noticing the fur in between the cat’s claws. Maybe they two could try hunt something bigger together? Have their fifteen minutes of fame. Didn’t that sound like fun?

Lilyfall's eyes lit up happily at Robinpaw's friendly greeting, glad that the young molly seemed happy to see them. The apprentice carried a mole in her jaws, and so, Lilyfall complimented, "That mole looks delicious! Someone's going to have a great meal." Maybe to some cats it would seem as though the dark tabby was overreacting, but, after all of the struggling they had gone through while attempting to catch prey, Lilyfall believed that every single catch, no matter how tiny, was worth plenty of praise.

The slender tabby smiled sheepishly as Robinpaw looked to the fur snagged in their claws. "I'm getting closer and closer with every attempt," the tall cat agreed, her tone sounding very positive. "But I'm just not quite there yet. Everybody makes it look so easy." And that was true. Lilyfall had seen numerous ShadowClan warriors make impressive catches seemingly effortlessly. But Lilyfall suspected that wasn't 'effortless.' Nothing came without effort, and they were sure that even the most skilled of warriors struggled sometimes.

Struggling was a part of life after all. A painful part of life, yes, but a very important part, too. The way Lilyfall saw it, if there was no struggle, nothing would be worth anything. An apprentice's first catch, a cause for great celebration, would be brushed off as a minor event if there wasn't a satisfying struggle leading up to said apprentice's victory.

Looking back up at Robinpaw, their eyes gleamed gently, "Considering you caught that mole, you're already a better hunter than me, so there must be something you can teach me," their smile grew a little wider as they suggested, "So how about you mentor me today? Teach poor old Lilypaw how to hunt? No pressure!" The dark furred feline let out a gentle laugh after speaking, hoping that their request wasn't too much for Robinpaw. Perhaps they had put the poor girl a little on the spot. But on the other hand, maybe Robinpaw would take it as a compliment, as a fully grown warrior wanted to learn from her.

         - “Oh! This is my second catch ever, actually. I haven’t been apprenticed for that long,” she replied awkwardly. “Besides, you’re much older than me, Lily.” She didn’t expect to be asked to mentor someone just after getting a mentor herself. Although it was true if Lilyfall’s never caught anything before, maybe there were some natural clan cat things Robinpaw could teach them. “But perhaps, we could try hunt together! All is easier in two.” She started looking around, before something reminded her of her mentor’s words. “Hmm, you know, to catch prey you first must find prey. How are your tracking skills?”

Lilyfall was surprised to hear that the mole was only Robinpaw's second catch. "It's a very good catch, considering it's only your second one." The brown tabby complimented warmly. Truthfully, Lilyfall was rather surprised that Robinpaw had only been recently apprenticed, as she looked a lot older than the other '

new' apprentices. Lilyfall had always felt as though they were fairly good at judging age, but perhaps they had messed up this time. They decided not to voice their thoughts out loud, worried that it would sound insulting if they said that Robinpaw looked older than six moons.

Lilyfall was happy to hear that Robinpaw wanted to hunt with them, and they waggled their short tail in excitement. "I agree." The dark brown feline mewed. Lilyfall was a strong believer in togetherness and union, in love, unconditional love, towards everyone. That... wasn't the point that Robinpaw had been trying to make, but it was something that they very strongly believed in. Love was their passion.

Life was too short to be cruel, after all. Life was too short to harbour feelings of hate, feelings of rage.

And even if life went on for a million moons, even if Lilyfall had all the time in the world to treat others the way they pleased, they knew that they would choose love, time and time again.

At the young's molly's question, Lilyfall again let out a gentle laugh. "I'm slowly improving, but I still get a little confused. My nose seems to lead me all over the place!" They joked, light blue eyes shining beautifully with laughter.

         - Many cats seemed to be confused about Robin’s age. Yes, she was older than most... it stung a bit that she was so much behind other apprentices her age. But she would work twice as hard, and earn her warrior name! Maybe cooperation could be a thing of its own, right?

Yeah, there’s a lot of smells around here!” she agreed. “But can you smell... uhh, anything specific? Like... prey of some kind?” She questioned. She hadn’t even tried sniffing something. She’d rather try leave it to Lilyfall. Because how can you know that you need to improve if you never try? Kind of her motto. You are only here for a while, so why not try everything?

Nose twitching, Lilyfall tried to pick out any particular scents. It took a while, the tall warrior just standing there, not moving, just trying to work out what specific scents hung in the air.

Eventually, they picked up the scent of sparrow, and informed the young molly of such. "Sparrow. I can smell sparrow, I think," the dark tabby's nose then went back to twitching, trying to pick up where the scent was coming from. This too, took a long time, and Lilyfall couldn't help but wonder whether their companion was feeling bored yet. They thought the sparrow scent was coming from somewhere east, and so, heading in that direction, Lilyfall continued to sniff the air. The scent was getting stronger. "This way. I think the scent is getting stronger."

The dark tabby then headed off to the east, flicking their short tail for Robinpaw to follow them. After following the scent for a while, the slender feline spotted a sparrow. The small bird stood on the ground, not moving much, its back turned to Lilyfall. The dark brown cat turned to Robinpaw, excitement in their blue eyes. "There it is!" They whispered, happiness evident in their voice even though they hadn't even come close to catching the sparrow yet.

    "I have to go."

         - Robinpaw gave a nod, sharing the feline's excitement. Great, so this was done! All they needed to do was not scare the bird away. The sparrow could make for a nice meal for some elder or kit. Looked pretty plump to her.

"Great, Lilyfall! The first step to catching something is finding it. You're halfway through," she meowed, volume of her voice lower than normal. She really sounded like her mentor, didn't she now? She hoped the other didn't find it annoying.

She didn't really know how exactly they could hunt it together, birds were quick to fly away as soon as they noticed them. Robinpaw didn't want to ruin the hunt for Lilyfall, although she did say they would hunt together. "Hmm, you found it, so you can try catch it. I can hide a bit to the right and serve as a backup."

Lilyfall was faintly amused by the way Robinpaw was speaking, sounding as though she was a much older and more mature cat than she actually was. This experience should be good for her - one day in the future she might have an apprentice of her own. The brown tabby felt as though Robinpaw would make a pretty great mentor, considering the rather good advice she was giving Lilyfall despite only being very recently apprenticed.

"Alright!" The tall feline whispered, dropping into a clumsy crouch and creeping towards the bird, short tail sticking out awkwardly. They didn't appear to be especially balanced, their body weight leaning more towards the right than the left.

Upon getting close enough to the sparrow, Lilyfall leaped, and for a moment, managing to pin the bird. Triumph rushed through the brown tabby at the feeling of the plump bird beneath their small, delicate paws, but before they had a chance to kill the creature, it shot out from underneath their paw, flapping towards Robinpaw. The sparrow was slower now, clearly dazed from their close encounter with Lilyfall. "Incoming!" Lilyfall called to their companion, flicking their short tail towards the sparrow, hoping that Robinpaw might be able to make the catch.

    "I have to go."

         - Dumb little sparrow, thinking it was so free, huh? She was surprised Lilyfall was skillful enough to scare it in her direction. Soon it would face the power that was teamwork!

Robinpaw sprung her hind legs up, claws aiming directly for the bird as it helplessly fluttered in her direction. Her paws flew by on both sides, and at the same time she bore her fangs into the sparrow’s neck. She had a rough landing, stumbling forwards with the prey falling out. However it was already too hurt to move. She quickly ended its suffering, then pushed it towards Lilyfall. “Here. Your catch. I already got the mole buried back there. And I hate plucking so much you wouldn’t believe,” she teased with a smirk. Of course Lily didn’t need to pluck it, but she had to make sure she wouldn’t resist claiming it. Although it was very obviously a weak excuse.

The dark tabby lifted their tail up, eyes shining with delight as Robinpaw made the catch. It seemed that even though Lilyfall had messed up, things had worked out fine anyway. Padding over, the brown feline looked a little doubtful as Robinpaw offered for Lilyfall to take the sparrow as their own catch. "Are you sure?" the slender tabby asked. "Thank you! But... it really wasn't me who did anything. I just scared it and it happened to fly in your direction." Lilyfall was glad that Robinpaw had managed to catch the sparrow, but Lilyfall didn't really feel as though they themselves had helped, at least not intentionally.

After speaking, they spotted a mouse next to a nearby push. Whispering to Robinpaw, "Position yourself on one side of the bush," they flicked their tail towards the other side of the bush. "I'll stay on the other and try to drive it towards you." Hopefully Lilyfall would be able to intentionally provide assistance this time.

Stalking towards the mouse, waiting until their companion was ready on the other side of the bush, Lilyfall then suddenly quickened their pace, alerting the mouse to their presence. "Now!" They called to Robinpaw, as the mouse shot through the bush, light pink tail disappearing into the greenery.

    "I have to go."
