oh gosh, that's gonna hurt lars even more ooF. like she understands why he'd be okay with her distancing herself, he probably needs to be away from her for a bit but because they never really talked about what happened in the arena and now she's distancing herself like this only to notice that he's actually pretty okay with the fact that this is happening.

lars is going to assume the worst and just recede back into her little mental protective shell that she had finally started to creep out of with adder's help.

once he starts to try and reconnect though, lars will definitely try and reconnect as well- she misses him, he's like a father to her and she can't help but miss him. he protected her and took care of her when she didn't know how to and he taught her a lot about what actual love looks like.

she'd do her best to make sure she looked like she was doing really well, though, but she'd also be a loooot more secretive. lars would hide herself more, try and cover up any bruises or wounds she might have by wearing long sleeves all the time. she'd also be just as jumpy as she was when she and adder met for the very first time, when she didn't know how to open up and trust someone.

lars is also probably way too scared to tell him that her brother is there in district 13, let alone the fact that she got sucked into his cycle of abuse again.

it's unlikely she'll actually come out and tell adder any of this, so if you are okay with it maybe he should end up walking in eventually and seeing gabriel hurting lars.

or hell, maybe lars leaves a little note in adder's room asking to talk to him about something important and to meet somewhere at a specific time[idk where, probably some place quiet] and somehow gabriel finds this out and gets extremely angry about it. so he ends up taking his rage out on larsen, ultimately causing her to miss said meeting. adder is where she asked but when lars doesn't arrive after a bit he's like '???? uhhh something aint right hold up' and goes to her room to find her and that's how he walks in to find gabriel hurting her???? maybe???

and that is exactly how lars felt because the person who she loved most was hurt!! she didn't know why it happened, she didn't know the details of what was going through kits mind, all she knew was that she had to stop her. yes, lars made assumptions that ultimately led her to believe kit was still a threat despite having run off, but she was also blinded by rage [which isn't really an excuse, but she didn't know how to control her emotions and calm down enough to think rationally about what she was doing. she just went and acted on her feelings]. lars probably didn't know how she would explain that to adder if he didn't know what it was like to be completely and totally controlled by your emotions[if that makes sense].

thinking about it, if adder did see what was happening to lars, he might start to understand more of what she was feeling when she killed kit.

and lars is still hella guilty about killing kit, so that's not something that she just brushed off. she'll definitely be having nightmares about it for a hot minute oof

lars would be acting hella strange and with him not pressing the matter he's just trying to watch out for her and avoid reminding her of her brother! the only problem is he has absolutely no idea that her brother is actually still there and because he has never seen gabriel's face, if he happened to see him around adder might not even realize that's him. hell, adder may even see lars and gabriel together at some point even before everything that's going to go down because they don't exactly look alike and there's such a large age gap between them.

maybe he does see them around and lars looks better-ish and that's what solidifies his thoughts that she is doing okay, that she doesn't need him, etc etc??

[this is mostly a repeat of what you said] then adder notices a bruise or a wound and it will probably be bad enough that it couldn't have been just her being clumsy or something [especially because she really isn't a clumsy person by any means]. and then like you said, he'd comment on it and that would then lead lars to write the note to explain everything, gabriel sees her leaving adder's room and just loses it. she doesn't show up to meet with him and so he goes to check on her, only to find gabriel attacking lars.

so i would assume he fuckin throws gabriel off of lars and if adder does beat gabriel to death [and assuming he's just too angry to even think straight], maybe adder just keeps on beating him up even though he's already dead and lars is just like 'oh my god, he really did that', probably panics and tries to stop him before he literally purees gabriel's skull.

and if he gets arrested because of this, lars will just panic even more and she'd be willing to say something and try to help explain that what adder did was for a good reason!! she has a lifetime of abuse backing her up and the physical scars don't lie, so idk :eyes emoji: i also dont know how they'd handle something like that in district 13 but i like the idea and honestly i kind of want that to be the way this goes oop-

but afterwards, lars would just agree with him and probably start crying like, 'i really never want you to leave again, it was terrifying without you here' and yes, so many hugs

lars would also apologize for a lot of the things she did, especially for all of the stress she caused him during the games bc holy shit

it wouldn't be completely mended but it'd definitely be a start.

and anyway, after her brother is [hopefully] killed, lars will probably stick to adder like glue for a little while because even though gabriel is gone she's still scared as all hell that it's too good to be true [mainly bc of the first time she thought she was free of him, when they arrived at district 13 she thought he wasn't going to be there but he was!! and even though she probably witnessed his death, she's still anxious abt it] and at that point she feels safest staying with adder.

also we gotta find a way to send everest to district 13 because the minutes lars meets him her heart is just gonna melt and she's going to end up becoming a big sister to him and take care of him and spoil him with toys she makes and it's gonna be CUTE and ADORABLE and it's going to make me CRY bc lars finally has a family again and it's just
