He was trying his hardest to smile, but it was getting so hard. All he could think about was her doing this with Valerianfire. How many times did she tell him she loved him, too? Was she thinking about him right now? Did she miss him now like she had missed Flaxen?

    Should he have even bothered...

"How about Sunkit, then? Or Yellowkit, but I think even the ones that look like me would love it better to be named after you" he purrs, dizzy as he's pulled in and out of pleasure and misery. He kisses her forehead, ruffling her cheek fur with his licks. He tugs on her cheek playfully, brushing her nose with a thumb, "think Mo would get jealous? " he asked with a little snicker, picturing his fiery child huffing about not being the baby anymore.

    Firedawn, Warrior of Shadowclan

Another giggle would flow from her lips at the thought of their precious daughter all fluffed up at the news that she was gaining sibling. She would watch his face for a moment, and she would of course catch the flickers of darkness that entered his gaze. The sadness that touched his otherwise gorgous golden eyes. It pained her. Because she knew she was the cause of that sadness. A part of her wanted to curse Starclan for allowing this to happen, but she knew that it wasn't their fault. She seemed to want to say something to him about it. An apology. An explaination. A confession. Oh Starclan, how would he even react if he knew the truth? If he knew what had happened just a few days before his miracle return? Firedawn didn't think she was strong enough for that yet. Besides, it was Flaxensuns' time now. She would rub her head against his own and purr softly, "I suppose there's only one way to find out.."

His eyes meet hers and the darkness in both their gazes fill to the brim. So much unspoken grief, so much pain between them. Loneliness and abandonment, nightmares and false fantasies. Flaxenglare could practically smell the rain clouds approaching as the silence lay thick between her giggle and his response. Would they survive the crash? How could they - how could he - if he knew he might very well be the only one who'd drown alone? He pulls her close and kisses her nose, the silence pounding loud in his ears as he smiles a toothy smile full of love and excitement he refused to let the rain wash away, "If you're up for it, I wouldn't want to waste a single second"
