YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT WENT WRONG.
you don't know what went right, either.
in fact, you don't really know anything
no one does. one night, everything was fine. you were spending your saturday night partying with you friends. or maybe you spent that night working, perhaps on homework, perhaps late at a boring desk job. it doesn't really matter. either way, it was normal. nothing felt odd or out of place, you don't remember seeing any suspicious characters or unusual faces. but there was one. hiding among you, slithering under every radar as if he were never there at all. but he was. he was waiting. planning out his every move, ready for the perfect moment to strike. to get what he came here for.
turns out, that perfect moment was last night. you woke up & it was all you could hear that morning. missing girls - three of them. you have no idea if they're related - no one does. no one knows anything. and even though you can tell the police are trying to take charge, you can tell they're no different. clueless, powerless like the rest of you. a week later, three more kids go missing. and then again the next saturday. and then again. and then again.
you can't help but wonder what's happening. you feel afraid. maybe you're in the same class of one of the teens that got grabbed, maybe one of them was your kid. maybe one of them was your brother, your sister, your sibling. that is, until you stumble across the dead body of one marie anderson. it's deliberate. meant to be found.
and the next morning, when you wake up to the police claiming that teenage girl's been found and sent back to her family... you realize that maybe the cops weren't as clueless as you thought.
yee haw! it's a murder mystery rp. but instead of the emphasis being on 'who's the killer' it's more on 'survive and find a way to out the killer'! this is basically the tale of a corrupt cop killing/selling/kidnapping the high schoolers from the local high school. i like imagining this takes place somewhere like rural texas where it's a kind of 'everyone knows everyone' town. a republican state, somewhere where the cops kinda run the place. where they're seen as divine/always to be trusted. that kinda feel!
so, our characters are all going to be high school kids OR various other adults! whether it be a non corrupt cop on the corrupt force, a teacher, a parent, etc! i imagine the kids will outnumber the adults though. adults dont care about what their kids say, not in shitty slasher flicks. and that's what life is babey! one shitty slasher flick.
anyways, i don't have a set list of "rules" for this, per se. this is strictly 16+, as there will be VERY dark and mature themes. murder, kidnapping, sex trafficking (none of this will be rp'd out obviously (or romanticized, bc that's gross)! just mentioned and perhaps our heroes will find like clues to lead them to finding out it's happening but nothing beyond that). i imagine there will be real bad scenes of peril, with our characters almost dying / getting kidnapped themselves. so! that's why no one under 16. don't lie! it's shitty. speaking of shit, the swearing in this thread will not be censored nor will it be infrequent. if that makes you uncomfortable, please leave now! :^) there will be descriptive violence / graphic imagery also. and the rest should be self-explanatory! no breaking ff rules, fade to black, etc etc. also! two characters/person! if you have two, it must be one adult one student! so no matter who's online at the time, you can make some progress rping! and so if there's only one adult character they're not stuck by themselves.
here are our slots folks! if you have any other ideas, let me know before you send an app and i'll add them if i think they'll fit!
adults
THE GOOD COP: has good intentions, wants to help their town and keep the peace. entered the force to help others, completely blindsided when they start hearing rumors of the corruption on the force, they don't believe it until they team up with the other adults/students and realize it has to be true. but if they betray their boys in blue, who knows what'll happen to them? (SANTIAGO LOVELOCK)
THE ENGLISH TEACHER: sweet as sugar or a bat out of hell - up to the player. this teacher has studied the greatest american literature for their entire career, so when their students start going missing, they are one of the first to step up to the plate and realize something dirty might be going on. after all, all that reading has given them a good eye for this sort of thing. driven by a carnal urge to protect their students, they will stop the dirty cops or die trying. works great with the history teacher and the math teacher (OPEN)
THE MATH TEACHER: paranoid and terrified or angry and violent - up to the player. they have an impeccable memory from having to memorize so many formulas, and can do any intense calculation in seconds without showing their work (gasp!) this teacher has spent a lifetime being suspicious of the town they grew up in. whether it's from a childhood trauma or anything else doesn't matter. when they hear that their students are going missing, they immediately jump to blame the cops, though because of their track record, no one believes them. it's hard being a cop hater in a town full of 'em. works great with the english teacher, as their shared drive to bring down the cops will result in them both working harder. consider also the arts teacher who can use their good memory should they ever see something they shouldn't have. (OPEN)
THE SCIENCE TEACHER: quirky and innovative. when the going gets tough, they get going - specifically to think of an out-of-the-box solution. they're brilliant in their own right, and when the adult crew gets stuck in a jam, you bet they'll be the one to keep a level head and find a way out. exceptional knowledge on chemicals, perhaps they're even a fledgling criminologist. either way, they'll have one hell of a burden to bear and one hell of a target on their back. works great with the history teacher and the guidance counselor. (OPEN)
THE HISTORY TEACHER: the dad/mom/parent figure of their students and younger faculty (unless they are the youngest). trusted by all - that trust could be justified or it could be misplaced - up to the player. this teacher has an unparalleled knowledge of history. a jack of all trades, this teacher can help the english teacher or the science teacher due to their uniquely versatile knowledge of the world, whether it be the most infamous murders in history, or even common chemical weapons. (RESERVED)
THE GUIDANCE COUNSELOR: the sweetheart of the group. the baby deer everyone wants to protect. physically weak, but they have a PhD in psychology. they understand how people work. they could work excellently with the good cop to get in the police force's mind and trick them into doing what they want. or, perhaps working with the science teacher would allow their shared knowledge of the human mind to flourish. (RESERVED for me owo)
THE ARTS TEACHER: a mastermind of all forms of art, they have an amazingly vivid imagination and an innate ability to lie. with profession in theater, they are able to act however they need to at a moment's notice. they can visualize anything, and sketch out diagrams or faces in record time. works great with the good cop should they have any inside info, as well as the math teacher, as their crazy good memory works well with their crazy ability to draw details. (RESERVED)
students
THE JOCK: yeah, you saw this one coming. perhaps they do poor in school, perhaps they excel - up to the player. they are incredibly athletic and could outrun or outfight anyone who dares to try crossing their path. they are mean and bully those under them - whether or not this meanness is true or an act is up to the player. is drawn to the beauty and naturally avoids the nerd, but what's new? someone like the valedictorian will be able to give them the brains and insight they need to survive this mess, as will the good girl. the pure brawn duo of them and the troublemaker certainty cannot be ignored. (SCARLETT EMILIA HOLLOWAY)
THE BEAUTY: known for her anything but her brains, this ethereal being is held in the highest esteem among their peers nevertheless. personality completely up to player. they have the respect of both faculty and peers, and is known for being polite. however, they are smarter than those around them like to give them credit, and they're more than capable of using the art of surprise to their advantage. very good at manipulation and at keeping secrets. if they could ever get the good girl and the royal bee to team up, they'd be unstoppable, though acting alone with the good girl is more likely. combine their innate ability to manipulate with (MADDISON "MADDY" SINCLAIRE)
THE NERD: the bottom of the totem pole, the nerd is smart yet understood. perhaps they are well versed in DnD, perhaps their poison lies more in video games, maybe they like comics. they are highly intelligent and have a high standing with most teachers (the art's teacher, however, is wary of them). They are good at persuading adults that they, and anyone around them, have purely innocent intentions. can get the group out of any fix due to their amazing reputation. (OPEN)
THE THEATER KID: the arts teacher's pet. though no expert, they are also well versed in the art of lying and keeping a strong poker face. art's teacher trusts them with a lot of faculty secrets, and knows more about the faculty than any other student. a lifetime of learning lines has gifted them a great memory, and they are a wonderful impressionist. if they need to, they can take any costume and blend into the crowd, or take center stage and act as the distraction. works well in sharing info with the wallflower and spreading it with the royal bee. they could easily act as a bold distraction while the loner sneaks into somewhere / steals something important as well. (MAUREEN MILLER)
THE STONER: vapes in the back of class, smokes weed in the bathrooms, probably sleeps through all of their classes - the stoner may not seem like the ideal person to have on this quest. however, what they lack in sobriety they make up for in connections. they are friends with every weed plug this side of the country, and they all owe them a favor, somehow. they come from rich parents, and are quite generous with their money, donating as much as someone wants after being asked only once. thus, they have friends in high places. and who knows? they've even saved the lives of a few cops with their money; maybe some would be willing to look the other way? (ALBIE BUCKINGHAM)
THE WALLFLOWER: you've heard this one a thousand times before. this student likes to keep to themselves and doesn't have many friends, alongside from their cat and their parents, maybe. but no friends means no enemies, and they overhears quite the bit of gossip. the guidance counselor is their best friend in the world, and the two of them have been known to do... perhaps a bit of gossiping during school hours. spends class time in the nurse's office as well - knows when every kid gets sick. if someone ends up getting attacked on school grounds, they'll hear about it first. thus, them and the theater kid work well, as they each have the info the other is missing. and with the royal bee's help? all of that info will spread like wildfire. (OPEN)
THE MOVIE BUFF: of course. what would a horror movie be without one? this student is incredibly well versed in anything movie released in the last 100 years, and of course, one of their favorite genres is horror. they know every slasher flick from front to back, and thus, is inherently suspicious of the wallflower and the beauty. they are paranoid, and take an odd shining to the math teacher for their shared suspicion / anger towards this town's police force. (RESERVED)
THE TROUBLEMAKER: every teacher's worst nightmare, the troublemaker is known for getting themselves... well, into trouble. they're physically strong and pretty witty too - but they're not very sneaky. maybe anger issues, maybe they're just bored easily. either way, they know the school system in and out. they've been in detention more times than they can count, and at this point, they know where every teacher is at any given moment. (CHANCE)
THE GOOD GIRL: the betty cooper (but with a personality) of this story - the good girl is the apple of the school's eye, second only to the valedictorian. she's too innocent for her own good, however, and will often assume the world is better than it truly is. however, she can be amazing for boosting team morale, and she's also pretty good bait if the opportunity ever arises. her and royal bee or the beauty can use their looks and combined intelligence to pull off any heist, and the jock can provide the muscle to pull of any plan she needs. (OPEN)
THE VALEDICTORIAN: this student has the brains of the nerd and the popularity of the beauty. universally liked by all and with good grades, this student looks like they have their life all together. however, what they have in success they lack in care. they hardly sleep or shower, and it's clear all the pressure to be perfect has developed some sort of issue in them. so, despite their ability to convince student or teacher of their intentions, they lack the physical strength that even the nerd could muster. thus, they are not only a target, but one who cannot defend themselves. the jock can provide the protection they need, while they could help the jock think through their inevitably impulsive plan through. and, of course, no one could deny how powerful them and the nerd could be when it comes to intelligence. (ATHENA WILSON)
THE QUEEN/KING/ROYAL BEE: high school royalty, thinks they're top dog and they're probably right. everyone fears them; they know what they want and they can get it. what the stoner has in connections, the royal bee has tenfold. their daddy practically owns this hick town, including the cops behind this whole thing. but doesn't that mean...? yeah, yeah it does. to get through this whole thing, the royal bee will need the good girl's ever-caring support/idealism. however, they will most also need to pair up with someone like the troublemaker who, though they may hate, will be able to give the royal bee the new identity they need to move on. they could easily help spread the theater kid's and the wallflower's information as well. (MAIRYA PATEL)
THE LONER: friendless, and they like it that way. they prefer to work alone.. however, it's starting to look less and less possible by the day. having spent most of their life fending for themselves, the loner is a stealthy thief who can steal whatever they need to survive. crafty and thoughtful, they work swimmingly with the theater kid, whose loud displays can act as the perfect cover. and, with the troublemaker's intense knowledge of the school's vent system/where every teacher will be, it's easy for the loner to sneak in. (OPEN)
