What Could Possibly Go Wrong? ((Roleplay Thread))

  • The hot summer sun glowers down upon the theme park with no mercy. It's unbelievably hot and the air is humid, even for the dinosaurs. The many assets lounge lazily by the lakes in their enclosures and the majority of the park's visitors and personnel flee into air-conditioned buildings to take refuge from the heat. But not the ones who have no choice but to do their jobs out in the summer sun. Allison is one such person. Having been born and raised in Florida, the woman is accustomed to the heat and doesn't mind working in the sun's rays. Alice walks undeterred by the humidity towards the indoraptor paddock where the entire pack resides, carrying two heavy buckets filled with raw meat and chunks of bone, one in each hand. Usually they feed the hybrids live prey such as goats, but today she has been told to feed them slabs of raw meat and bones to gnaw on so the raptors won't wear themselves out by hunting in this heat. The woman quietly walks up to the large feeding window, keeping an eye on the trees and underbrush nearby, and slides it open. She dumps one bucket through the window and whistles shrilly to let the hybrids know that it's feeding time. That done, she slides the window shut and proceeds to go towards the training paddocks where some of the handlers will be working with select groups of indoraptors. There's a couple already out with their raptors but many of the paddocks are empty due to how early in the morning it is. Alice jogs up the stairs to one of the viewing platforms and sets the second bucket of meat by the feet of a handler who had requested her to get the meat for them. That job done, she turns and walks back towards the primary paddock to see if anything else needs to be done.

Meanwhile, the sleek black beast peers out of the forest cover of the indoraptor enclosure, cunning amber eyes glued to the spot where a redheaded woman had been seconds before. Opening her nostrils, the hybrid easily scents fresh meat near the window that the human feed the pack from. A low noise of content rolls against her throat as Indigo leisurely makes her way over to the pile of raw meat and bone dumped into the paddock. She halts halfway there and raises herself onto her hindlegs, issuing a few caws into the air before running the rest of the way to the food provided to them by the humans.

  • Cerridwen V. Isis - Sirsiki

The roasted sun lit upon the brilliant crimson haired adult as she circled around her indoraptor quietly. The duo had been up from the midnight hour till early morning before the two had ended up resting before starting the training again. Having most commands down, Cerridwen Vivian Isis (more commonly known around the park as Cel) gave a soft command in Italian as she paused. A bucket of meat sat to her right - near her leg as she knew Siri wouldn't dream of attacking her. The two were closely bonded and one was rarely seen without the other. Cerridwen had been at the park for about 7 years now and she loved it. She had found the egg after it h ad been abandoned and she all but raised Sirsiki. Together the duo had a mother-daughter like bond but either way both were protective of one another. After she clicked her tongue gently, she tossed a nice raw piece of meat to her friend before approaching and tilting her head - once her indoraptor gave the okay did Cel approach Sirsiki and stroked the raptor along her eye ridges.

Sirsiki was an unusual indoraptor. She had albinism and her white color often made visitors think they had seen a ghost. Her golden hues stood out sharply against the white scales and her lithe form was streamlined and elegant. Her dark amber gaze scanned around the enclosure the duo were in before her attention was called to Cel and immediately she moved to the right side of her handler. The command had been spoken in Italian and she got distracted form the one she was being trained for very quickly but she didn't mind - she got time with Cerridwen. Sirsiki gave a

gentle caw before watching Cel carefully - noting her handlers position and lowering her hand to let out a low growl of approval when the delicate fingers scratched along her eye ridges in an extremely satisfying touch. Should anyone else attempt this - Siri wouldn't be certain that any fingers would stay attached. The white raptor was intelligent ... but also possessive of her handler ... even some of the most experienced handlers wouldn't dare approach her.

Laying out in the sun was another female of the hybrid species called indoraptors, snoozing atop a large boulder and stretched out lazily across its uneven surface. The black and white tail gently swayed across the boulder every so often. The majority of the thick limb hung off the edge and so was one of the female's arms, golden eyes shut as she sunned herself despite the humidity in the air. Mercy groaned an irritated huff and lifted her head begrudgingly at the shrill whistle suddenly penetrating her sensitive ears. But she knew the whistle meant it was feeding time and she was admittedly a bit hungry. The call of Indigo further encouraged the bulky female to move. Exhaling sharply in a snort, she hefted herself up and slunk off the boulder with her claws clicking and dragging in the stone surface.

Mercy strode for the sliding door window that the humans would sometimes feed them through, humming disinterestedly as Indigo rushed towards the offering of meat. Normally the salt-and-pepper indoraptor would rush to the food as well and try to bully her way into snatching the largest piece, but today Mercy was feeling lazy in the heat. So instead, she took her good time in getting to the meat pile.

Not particularly minding being in close proximity to Indigo, Mercy was pretty lax around other females, she trotted up to the pile and sat back on her hind legs. Extending her claws, she delicately dug through the pile of raw meat to pick out her choice of the cuts. She settled for picking out a thick strip, quite a juicy cut, and brought the strip of meat into her jaws. Happy with her pick, Mercy settled down nearby but we'll away from the meat pile to eat.

Sheltering from the heat but called by the sweet promise of food to sustain him, the runt emerged slowly from the forest cover. The small, red-striped beast first poked his about out of the bushes to take deep breaths of the humid air into his flared nostrils. Pale, milky eyes blinked in reflex as the rest of the hybrid followed out in to the sun's rays.

Riot didn't rush to the pile of meat quite literally guiding him by the nose. He wasn't exactly as smart as his species tended to be, but he wasn't foolish enough to sprint snout first towards a wide open area that could potentially have other more dominant indoraptors nearby. He quickly learned that it was best for him to hang back and wait for the others to leave before eating. The sightless runt didn't want a repeat of how a couple of the females once roughed him up for getting too close too soon.

Riot halted once he was close enough to smell Indigo and Mercy alongside the fresh meat, raising his snout in their direction and then in the direction of the food. He prances in place nervously, uttering quiet whines in the back of his throat in complaint.

  • Voodoo

On the far side of the enclosure, underbrush rustled and snapped. The ferocity at which the foliage was shaking would perhaps indicate that whatever was lurking within was massive, but that wasn't the case at all. No, the small male taking refuge from the heat was simply hungry; and despite the exhausting humidity, he didn't intend on waiting for the females to move. Plant matter exploded as the raptor-esque male erupted from his hiding spot, scattering leaves and kicking up dirt as he ran on two legs toward the bloody meats that the human had dumped into the enclosure. Voodoo didn't exactly have the traditional "manners" that most male Indoraptors had; though he respected the females, when it came to food he was as rude as could be. He bolted past a blind Riot, his tail nearly whacking the poor fella in the face as he flew by, and let out several shrill caws as he quickly approached the pile of meat and the females. He didn't fully stop even as he skidded in the dirt and bent down to seize a fairly large and juicy chunk in his jaws, then he turned and was off again, killing claws clicking as he fled back into the underbrush before Indigo or any of the other females could touch him. He had come and gone in an instant; a show of true speed, as designed by InGen.

Boots clicked on the metal grating below as a female figure made her way to the observation deck for the main paddock. A grey haired figure used their left hand to messily pull the disorganized strands into a bun. Percy wasn't quite used to using her left hand for everything. The figure frowned as she looked at her right arm, where it ended at the wrist. Percy sighed. Lavidia had been her first indoraptor ever. She was Percy's everything, her only imprinted indo, the only dino she had trained from birth. The cause of her success at Jurassic World. Something happened to the female however, and she wasn't the same. That accident would haunt Percy forever. The thin figure leaned against the rail, the sun hot on the back of her already tanned neck. The female's hazel eyes were trained on Indigo and Mercy. These were her girls, and she always observed her group during feeding time. She had been making slow progress with her three, and to add to that, she was given another. Sabotage. The female was unruly, and certainly a handful. The only good news was that most of Percy's group were fairly dominant, so they wouldn't get bullied by the newest female. She contemplated working in a group today, or just with the female for a while, then bring everyone else in.

    NESSIE

A dark figure crept at the edge of the underbrush after Voodoo had done his display. Red eyes peered out at Riot. The female got along well with the two males after recently being transferred from her old group with Whiskey and Spark. The female had actually become rather fond of the male's. She made soft clicking sounds as she moved to stand next to the blind male. She stood slightly above Riot, about the size of a small male. The female took a few steps forward before turning her head and screeching at the male to follow her. She wanted to make sure Riot got food, especially if they were training today.

    SPARK

A large white figure approached the bucket, emerging from the shade where he had been hiding from the sun's unrelenting rays. The male shook his spine, making his presence known. He came to stand a few yards away from Indigo. He would wait till the female's were done, or until he was given permission. He had gotten a few scratches and bites for being too eager.

    Asylum

    Interactions: Mercy ( ~:Wanderer:~ ), Indigo ( ShatteredDimensions )

Avoiding the sunlight as if it brings the plagues itself upon them all, the melanistic male called Asylum glares wishfully at the human dumping meat in their enclosure and doesn't take his eyes off the lovely pile of raw food waiting for him. As expected, the girls start moving in to claim their share of the feast. Grunting a low noise of discontent, he strides out of the cover of the shade provided by the trees and just barely leaps out of the way of the pale blur that is Voodoo in his way to the pile of meat. Snorting at the other male's antics, Asylum strides confidently right up alongside Indigo and Mercy, grabbing a generous helping of meaty chunks and whistling pleasantly through his nose at the females.

    Ruse

    Interactions: Spark ( CantSleep )

As soon as the scent of blood and raw meat is in the air, the large beast barrels out of the bushes on her hind legs. Ruse definitely isn't a shy creature and has no qualms with going out in the blazing sunlight if it means she'll be fed. She makes a straight beeline for the food, impassive to the other indos around her in favor of selecting her choice of cuts. All she offers is a faint, throaty rumble of greeting to her packmates and a rather discontent noise at Voodoo as she pulls a thick strip of meat from the pile. Ever the lenient female, Ruse swings her cunning gaze around to look at Spark and gives a gentle rumble as an invitation to come eat. She isn't his sister like Indigo and Nessie, but he is part of Matt's squad like her and she cares for the well-being of the entire pack regardless. And she won't bother him while he eats either, hopefully none of the other girls will if he's given permission by a female.

    ROBERT M. WHITEMAN

    ---

A great white beast lounges in the cool shade the underbrush provides as opposed to soaking up the warmth of the great blazing orb in the sky. The sun doesn't tend to agree with his pale scales when it's rays are particularly harsh, the lack of pigmentation causing quite a bit of discomfort for the albino when he's out in the sun for too long. It doesn't hurt him or affect his health too much, but it is uncomfortable enough to make the beast rather snappy and often causes concerns for Matt and the squad. Whiskey tends to avoid prolonged exposure to sun rays on days like these. Usually nothing can coax him out of the cover of the shade when the heat is this harsh. Nothing except for food.

The albino's head abruptly snaps up and swivels a bit to his left, pale eyes searching. A whistle trills through the enclosure and the Indoraptor perks his head up even more. He recognizes the tone of that whistle and knows it is feeding time. The white male rises to his feet and trots in the direction the whistle had come from. When he reaches the edge of the forest, Whiskey spots a couple of of the other Indos already there and he gives a brief caw to let them know he's approaching. He jogs forward on his hindlegs to the pile of meat. Crooning in greeting to the girls, Whiskey stands close beside Ruse knowing the much larger female is less likely to snap at him as opposed to Mercy and Indigo.

He hastily swipes up a long bone with chunks of meat and gristle hanging off it in his claws. He turns to leave just as the blazing orange-red streak of Sabotage pushes by him with a hiss. Whiskey quickly strides off into the shade of some nearby trees with his prize clutched in his taloned fingers, plopping down onto his belly to chew on the bone and strip the flesh from it.

Ever the gluttonous raptor and prone to bully insolent males, Sabo butts at Asylum's flank with a hiss but miraculously she leaves him alone in favor of simply forcing her way in beside him and greedily gobbling up more than her fair share of tasty meat.

Watching the Indoraptors flock to the food one by one is a man also standing on the observation platform of the enclosure, on the opposite side from Percy - he respects his fellow handlers and definitely respects the woman's personal space bubble. He knows she prefers being alone.

Matt also knows that when the Indoraptors are feeding is the perfect time to observe them, as they tend to creep out of the cover of the underbrush and into the open to eat even if some of them dart right back into the shade. He leans onto the wall and looks over each of the beasts in turn. So similar yet simultaneously so different from the velociraptors he'd been training before. He's been training raptors for years and being around the intelligent animals for so long has taught the man quite a few things and gave him the experience he required to upgrade to handling Indoraptors.

Like how it taught him which ones work well with each other. He easily spots two albinos he calls his own, Whiskey and Spark, near his big gal, Ruse. It makes him quirk a small smile to see them interacting and seeming to get along.

  • Cerridwen V. Isis - Sirsiki

Cel sighed as she stood up from her place on the ground. She knew that her bonded Indo had problems against Indigo and as such she preferred to keep her Sirsiki away from the other female. The girl gently stroked her friend’s face before she strode out of their own training enclosure and headed to the observation deck. Her eyes already noting Matt there as she casually leaned against the rails to study the group below. Gentle curls of crimson red lay over her left shoulder as piercing silver eyes studied the Indoraptors. A small twitch of her lips allowed those close enough to know she was smiling about what the males were doing compared to the females. Now - while she enjoyed training raptors ... Cerridwen was not one to go ahead and train any raptor. First off she preferred her solitude and second off ... Sirsiki had to approve. It was a tag team effort. Seeing enough - Cel turned on her heel to slip back to Sirsiki ... Not a huge fan of dealing with multiple handlers at once.

Mercy acknowledged the greetings from those who saw fit to greet her, rumbling back at the others in return. She watched the melanistic male, Asylum, approach and offered a low growl of warning as he made himself comfortable beside Indigo and herself. She returned to her own food quickly and picked apart the thick strip of raw flesh with sharp claws. She ripped off manageable chunks and swallowed many of the pieces whole while other pieces were ground up by her teeth.

When the recognizeable form of Whiskey approached, Mercy growled lowly in warning as she always had done with the males of the pack. She apparently had some sort of particular spite for the albino male though. She didn't exactly appreciate the company or attitude of Whiskey, he wasn't nicknamed Ruckus for nothing after all, but otherwise she seemed content to disregard the albino and instead focused on devouring her food.

She was anticipating some training today. At least, she hoped there would be.

Riot simply stood back from the feeding female, well away from the much larger raptors that could easily toss him in to the dirt. The vocalizations of his squadmate, Voodoo, paired with a near tail swipe from the other small male prompted him to give a small yelp and take a couple cautious backsteps.

Fortunately for him, the comforting scent of his most recent squadmate, Nessie, approached close by his side and passed him by. A screech to follow from the female was all it took for Riot to eagerly scamper after her like an excited puppy. He vocalized a couple quiet, elated croons at Nessie in thanks.

Percy sighed as she noticed the other handlers beginning to mill around. The female frowned as she continued to contemplate the possibilities of the day. The female watched as Sabotage pushed Asylum out of the way. Hmm. Pushy. So if she could figure out how to give her what she wants, in exchange for an action. That might work. The female sighed again while looking at her feeding group. They seemed to get along okay.

    (c)trexgirl

    NESSIE

Nessie wagged her tail as Riot followed her call. She approached the pile, stepping next to Indigo, knowing her clutchmate was unlikely to snap at her too bad. She grabbed two modest sized pieces of meat, and made her way to the blind male. She gently rattled her spines along her neck to warn him of her approaching. She dropped the larger piece of meat in front of the male and stepped away. She didn't want him to feel threatened by her being near while he ate. The female looked up, and saw her former handler, Matt. She squeaked at him and approached the deck, still holding her piece of meat. She wagged her tail and held her meat up proudly, clicking. She threw it up and caught it in her mouth, quickly chewing and swallowing. She spun in a circle, her clicking not stopping. She was ready for training, but she didn't see her new handler.

    (c)trexgirl

    SPARK

Spark shook his spines at Ruse, and lowered his head in thanks. He approached the pile, and grumbled a greeting to the eating females. He was about to grab a piece before Sabotage quickly snatched it up. He growled, baring his teeth. It wasn't much of a threat, because most likely Spark wouldn't follow up. It was a slight warning however. He didn't feel like fighting with the female, but he would only allow so much disrespect. He grabbed a thick chunk, and left. He lay in the shade, snapping up his food before his eyes found Nessie. He followed her eyes and found his handler. He stared at Matt for a minute, before turning back to the females.

    (c)trexgirl

  • *:・゚✧ Once he was sure none of the more dominant females had followed him into the underbrush to rough him up for his display moments ago, Voodoo snorted through his nose and settled down on his belly, grateful for the shade that the vegetation provided. As he began to tear into his morning meal, the scales on his shoulder twitched as a rather unpleasant itch there flared up, interrupting his feast. A disgruntled noise left his maw as he stared at the spot. So, the beast tossed his head back and let the rather large chunk of meat slide down his gullet, not bothering to savor it or to tear it up into smaller chunks; a part of him worried that one of the dominant females would come and take his food from him before he could finish it, so better to down it quickly. A pleased rumble vibrated in his throat at the feeling, and once it was down the hatch he immediately began to scratch at that darned itch with taloned fingers.

He would likely stay in the underbrush for a while longer yet — He was sure his handler would come by soon, only then would he come out, or until one of the other Indoraptors, preferably any of his squadmates, coaxed him out of hiding. Voodoo had really come to enjoy the company of the blind male and the other two females (though he had nearly taken Riot's head off earlier with his tail. But that had been in the heat of the moment; food had been involved and he'd been in a hurry, after all! Absolutely, positively, one-hundred-percent not his fault.)

    Interactions: Observing Riot ( ~:Wanderer:~ ), Voodoo ( stormy ! ), Nessie ( CantSleep ). Searching for Zephyr

Instead of hanging around the observation platform as most of the handlers seem to do during feeding time, she's gotta admit that it is a good time to just sit back and watch the Indoraptors, Jenny is instead lingering on the rails above the holding pens leading to her squad's training paddocks. She usually prefers to be down on the ground during drills, up close and personal with her squad, as opposed to standing on the viewing rails above the training paddocks. But she's not dumb enough to enter the pack's enclosure, at least not during feeding time.

From here the blonde can briefly see one of her boys, of course it's Voodoo, beelining for the meat and darting away faster than he appeared once he claims his prize. A smile graces her features as she pushes her glasses back up the bridge of her nose, turning dark eyes to the rest of the pack who haven't retreated back into cover yet. The sight of one of her her newest girls, Nessie, helping out Riot is a welcome one. She'd been worried that the female wouldn't get along with her boys when the head honchos transferred Nessie from Matt's squad over to her. Now the only raptor of the pack remaining to be seen, is Zephyr, one of the females that (from what she's been hearing) has been tossed from one trainer to the other. Poor girl.

    Asylum

    Interactions: Mercy ( ~:Wanderer:~ ), Indigo ( ShatteredDimensions ), Sabotage ( Evengaline )

Asylum seems to pay no mind to the, quite frankly terrifying, bulky female called Mercy growling in his direction. He only slaps his tail on the ground and heads back over to the pile to get seconds. What he does mind, however, is the form of Sabotage shoving him aside to eat. The crested male protests loudly by raising his spines discontentedly and releasing a high-pitched caw in complaint. He settles rather quickly though and stalks off back to Mercy and Indigo, empty-handed. Asylum plops on his haunches beside the two girls, eyeing Sabotage balefully.

    Ruse

    Interactions: Spark ( CantSleep ), Whiskey ( Evengaline ), Sabotage ( Evengaline )

Ruse rattles her spines back at Spark in turn, keeping an eye on him while he picks what to eat to make sure none of the others bother him. Of course, Sabotage snatches most of the juicier pieces right out in front of them. Spark hisses, and Ruse grumbles warningly at the other female too, briefly puffing an agreeable noise at the albino male, Whiskey, that comes up beside her. She turns back to her meal shortly after, food first and then she'll see about socializing with her squadmates.

Peering through the darkened undergrowth of the enclosure, a large creature shifts impatiently. While most of the indoraptors are nose first in the food pile, she prefers to keep her sharp eyes keen on the trainers standing on the observation deck. She knows the routine, she is aware that the handlers tend to view the beasts during their most vulnerable moment, and she likes to display dominance during this time. Making a series of clicks, she raises her scales, rattling them together in warning as she slips out of her of hiding place. Her jaw parts, saliva dripping from her teeth. An airy hiss escapes her, much like a venomous snake. Her killing claw tapping the dirt floor. The summer heat beats hard against her black scales, and she immediately feels the prickling temperature shift. Taking inventory of the other creatures around her, the indoraptor known as Zephyr approaches the food pile.

As a loner, she is last to arrive, however her large size and fierce nature easily allow her to fit amongst the ranks regardless of when she eats. Zee noses through the pile, selecting a thick piece of beef chuck, she uses her front talons to hold it in place while she rips a large piece off, tilting her head up and swallowing it whole. The dominant female is not shy about her eating habits, and chooses to tear into the beef in the open, with little to no hesitation. Her attention is on the food, until she hears a familiar clicking sound.

Zee looks towards her squad mate, Nessie as she performs for the handlers. and releases a brief chuff of disapproval. Tilting her head, Zephyr peers up at the holding pen rails, narrowing in on Jenny. The intelligent beast raises her scales in discomfort, letting out a shrill caw of warning before shaking out her spines, much like a dog, and returning to the pile of meat, selecting a large beef liver.
