  • NETTLEKIT

    the stinging silence

Nettlekit was happy to have his friends in the nursery. He felt less alone with his best friend and sister here in camp. It felt a more like... real family. Lately there sure have been some surprising things happening around him, and as shook as he was from the unlucky mess unraveling recently, he tried not to think about it. They were just accidents. Leafbare was dangerous.

Still, he wanted to have his little piece of newleaf, his little spot to be complete. For that, he’d also need it to be... all-sided. Kind of. Blossomkit and Lilykit might’ve seen each other, but he really wanted them to get to know each other better. Well, not talking and all of that might’ve made it pretty hard, and the fact Lily was extremely shy and... Blossom sometimes came off as... less sensitive, but it had to be done. He needed something positive to focus on, and this could make it easier.

He walked towards his sister, she seemed to be napping. He liked how she slept next to him, although Lilykit was on the opposite side of the nursery. He would gently nudge his sister, and then try and take her by her spine fluff thing where their mom used to hold them to move them around. He could feel his muscles tense as he pulled and then let go. Hoping to have gotten his sister’s attention, he would gesture with his ears and tail towards the opposite side of the nursery. Hopefully this would go as smooth as he hoped. Or it would be a disaster.

Blossomkit felt someone pulling at her spine, and her eyes shot open, panic rushing through her body. She fought to stay calm - she had promised that she won't show any signs of fear now that she was here in DarkClan. She was going to be a brave, confident warrior that her Clanmates - most importantly her brother, would be proud of.

The white molly snapped her head around, blue eyes glaring at the shape that stood before her for a moment, before softening as she realised it was just Nettlekit. "Hi, Nettlekit!" She purred, pushing the fear she had felt back down her body. It was better to suppress the way she felt - she couldn't let anyone see her weaknesses. That wasn't what a strong cat would do. That wasn't what a warrior would do.

She followed her brother's gesture, understanding that he wanted her to focus on the other side of the nursery. "What's over there?" she asked. Blossomkit knew that Lilykit was sleeping there - she had seen her and Nettlekit hanging out a fair bit, and although Blossomkit hadn't really spoken to the other female, she had decided she seemed pretty sweet. "Lilykit?" She guessed, hoping that she had interpreted Nettlekit's movements correctly. She was still struggling a lot to communicate with the tom, considering that he was mute. Well, as she had discovered, not exactly mute, but he had chosen not to talk, and Blossomkit understood and respected his wishes. She loved talking and couldn't imagine staying silent for even just a day, but for Nettlekit... that was his life now, and Blossomkit admired her brother's courage.

Lilykit would sometimes spend her days inside the nursery by herself. She could curl up by a wall and just sit there with her thoughts. Sure it sounded lonely but for her, it was nice. No one bothered her and she could just sit and think. There were no distractions, no kits playing with a moss ball, no cats bumping into her, no warrior yelling out orders to his mentor, and apprentice complaining about how hard being an apprentice was. Sure she liked to cat watch and listen to gossip sometimes, but there were days where she just wanted to in the silence of the nursery. This was one of those days.

Lilykit was in her usual spot, laying on her bed with her paws tucked under her. She was staring down at the moss thinking about how she needed to change her bedding soon when paw steps caught her attention. No one usually came over here. Looking up, she saw Nettlekit and Blossomkit making their way over to her. She knew Nettlekit. They were close friends and had quickly bonded over the fact that they didn't talk. But Lilykit didn't really know Blossomkit. She knew of her and that she was Nettlekit's sister but she had never really been around her much. As they got close, she felt herself instinctively trying to hide herself in her fluffy tail. Taking a deep breath, she forced herself to stop being so shy. She put on a smile to greet to kits.

  • NETTLEKIT

    the stinging silence

Nettlekit glanced over at Lilykit. Of course he could understand how she felt, it was hard to be with others. He knew she was an extremely introverted cat, but he was sure she would feel better if she had more friends than just him. Blossomkit could try and help her come out of her shell, right? He didn't want to seem like forcing her to do something, but well, if she didn't want it there still wouldn't be much he could do. He already put himself in a pretty awkward position, so he might as well go through with it. Remember, you're doing this for... Unfortunately, he couldn't remember.

When they came closer to her he padded towards her nest and nudged her with a soft smile. Then he looked back at Blossomkit, not letting his doubt show or the fact he had no idea what in the world he was doing. To put it simply, he never had to introduce anyone without speaking. He justed wished Lily would cooperte, because if she didn't talk maybe Blossomkit would think she was weird, and Nettlekit didn't want that.

Blossomkit padded alongside her brother towards Lilykit. From what she had seen of the other molly, she was pretty shy. Blossomkit couldn't really understand that - she was a naturally sociable cat, and didn't really struggle at all with introducing herself to strangers or having conversations. If Nettlekit wanted Blossomkit and Lilykit to be friends, which seemed to be what he was suggesting, Blossomkit would collaborate with that - she certainly didn't have a problem with it at all. Since joining DarkClan, she hadn't really made any friends, and she knew that sooner or later, preferably sooner, she would have to start building relationships with her Clanmates. That was probably the first step to her starting to feel like less of an outsider.

Lilykit had smiled, so Blossomkit of course smiled in return. "Hi!" she mewed, waving her white tail in greeting. "I'm Blossomkit, and you go by Lilykit, right? I haven't really had the chance to introduce myself to you yet." She hoped this didn't get awkward too quickly - it probably didn't help that her brother was mute, though of course, that was absolutely not Nettlekit's fault. At least Blossomkit wasn't shy too - she couldn't imagine how agonising this situation would be if she was. I have to keep this conversation going. I need to make friends in DarkClan, else I'll never truly be one of them!

    "Speech."

Lilykit stood frozen for a few seconds. She just smiled and blinked at the kits before she realized what was happening. She nervously tried to find her words. She desperately wanted to seem normal to Blossomkit but she feared it was too late. She already looked strange just standing there dumbfounded. "H-hi!" she said, more in a shocked voice than a nice-to-meet-you voice. She internally screamed at herself for being so stupid when it came to strangers. She could never find the right words to say to them. She also never say the words that she did find quite right. She usually ended up making others feel like she was so weirdo that they should avoid. "Um, y-ya. H-how are, um, you B-b-blossomkit?" she asked, she voice still shaking.
