  • MOTTLEWISH

    the tales untold

Breeze blew in between Mottlewish’s fur when she went for a solo patrol. Those were always fun, sometimes she got to meet fun people. Or find some that are looking for help. Sometimes just regular patrols aren’t enough, you have to scavenge for gems. It was just about luck. And timing, but mostly luck. Like how else would you find a BloodClan exile? Or a tribe cat wanting to join the clan? Or a starving pregnant kittypet that needed your help?

Despite Mottlewish having no reason to be out since she couldn’t hunt, and yes she learnt the hard way there can be bad consequences when you go alone, especially when you cannot fight, she still had this force pulling her out there. She didn’t want to be inclosed, isolated inside one single clan for her whole life. No, she wanted to explore, find out more about other clans.

She remembered Heronstar’s strong words about breaking the code, and shrugged. She wouldn’t be crossing the border or anything. Just walking alongside it, checking for hopefully not aggressive intruders, doing her best. Being out in the forest and feeling a different scent than the SkyClan one was nice, especially when it was not just once a month. Gatherings were fine, but all of the important things are far too formal and can get passive aggressive. Mottle was looking for friends, as always. For people to put her trust in.

And well, she was the type of cat to take in a BloodClan traitor without asking the leader. Man, did she get into some trouble back then! With a smile on her face and shimmers dancing on her pelt through the leaves, she walked closer towards the ShadowClan border.

  • Everyday it was simply a matter of sticking to routine - morning patrol, replace the nests in the elder's den, train, take a break, finish off the day with an evening patrol. Sometimes Stagpaw wished for a more eventful day, but he didn't mind completing his apprentice duties. It was all part of the system. If he wanted to be a warrior, he would have to do them. Besides, he enjoyed being of some help to others.

Stagpaw remembered quite vividly the days when he wanted to go out and explore the territory, see what was beyond the nursery of ShadowClan. Of course, being the sort of law-abiding male that he was, he didn't ever try to sneak out of camp. Instead, he relied the kindness of older felines to take him around the territory under their protection. They never went too far, only a few yards away from the camp entrance, but it had still been such a fascinating experience. Now, on the other hand, Stagpaw couldn't see what he had been so excited about. It was simply trees, the occasional wild animal, and lots of bushes. He didn't know what he had expected to find as a young and naive kitten. Still naive, though more in touch with reality.

Given recent events with DarkClan, Stagpaw figured he ought to patrol ShadowClan's borders more frequently until tensions settled down, if they ever would. He had already completed his apprentice duties today, but enjoyed volunteering to go on short solo patrols because, well, he liked to help out and be of some use. It was quite uneventful, though that was probably a good thing. Though this time, there appeared to be another feline roaming nearby, on the other side. He didn't recognise her; judging by the scent and the border, she had to be a SkyClanner. "Hello" he would call out with a reassuring smile, unbeknownst to him that she was blind. "Is SkyClan faring well?"

    the tales untold

//oops sorrey Mottle's not blind hehe

The molly glanced over at the ShadowClan apprentice, replying with a smile as well. "We're fine I think. Some StarClan shenanigans are apparently going on, so codebreaking is somewhat even more... bad than before. Like, something seems to be wrong. Not like I'd be the type of cat to break the code... and honestly I have no idea what is actually happening, but I'm a bit concerned. Thinking, is Adrien... and all of my kits, friends... alright up there?" She asked. Maybe spilling things like this wouldn't be a good idea, and there could be consequences if the other clans found out, but at the meeting the leader didn't even hint at the fact it should be kept secret, and Mottlewish's conscience remained clean. They were all clan cats, so naturally there wouldn't be any problems.

She's heard of the problems they've had with DarkClan. One of the reasons she wasn't fond of the idea to come back to the mountain clan. She still loved it with all her heart, but she would rather have peace. Being a warrior cat and all, she was happy to be a permaqueen at least. She wouldn't hurt anyone by doing her job. Hopefully it was all settled now.

"I've come back to the clans just recently, so I'm catching up with what's been going on in the forest since late newleaf. I heard your clan and DarkClan had some... unpleasant situations together. Is it all better now?" She asked, curiously perking up her ears.

  • (oh my bad ahaha, i must've got confused with another character cx)

He was surprised to hear the older molly spilling the situation in SkyClan, for other cats he had come across reacted quite defensively to his question, even if it was just another form of asking how they are. That was simple politeness, no? What would they rather he say, call them foxbrains? So for Mottlewish's calm response, he was grateful, and that was evident by his relaxed composure. "What do you mean? What's StarClan doing?" he questioned with slight concern, non existent brows furrowing. If SkyClan was in need of any help, he supposed he could relay the message to Briarstar and see what she thought about intervening. Though he knew some cats took offence to the invitation of help, so he didn't bother asking Mottlewish. Nevertheless, it seemed a bit concerning if something was going on with StarClan, their ancestors.

He was taken aback by her own question regarding the whole...situation with DarkClan. It was all over now, however, and he wasn't ashamed to talk about it as ShadowClan were back on their feet and as strong as ever. "Yes, it's all better now" he stated truthfully, before adding on: "Briarstar is doing a good job as leader, and we haven't had any trouble with DarkClan since...oh, I'm Stagpaw by the way, heh"

        - Mottlewish shrugged. "I have no idea... but I think Heronstar said something about 'we can't afford to lose StarClan' or something? It's very peculiar and I honestly don't know what to think. Perhaps I shouldn't be thinking about it too much though, maybe the Leader wants to keep it with the medicine cats," she replied. It was hard keeping up with what was happening in both worlds, and she could be quite busy as a queen of SkyClan. She liked just talking on the border, relaxing awhile having a nice conversation. Why wasn't life always this simple?. "I'm happy to hear that. Name's Mottlewish," she'd say in reply, embarrassed a bit she forgot to introduce herself.
