  • NETTLEKIT

    the stinging silence

The kit turned around in the soft nest of the medicine cat den. He slowly opened his eyes, looking around at the surroundings. He didn't lift his head, but after his vision cleared he started noticing more about the place he was in. It had a hundred strange scents, some beautiful, some terrible, some strong and some faded out sick ones. His senses alarmed by the strange mixture, he lifted his head up and perked up his ears, but ended up regretting it when his spine reacted with the first wave of pain crashing into his brain. He let out a quiet whine.

The movement wasn't hurtful itself, but after he got out of the dreamworld completely it reminded him of the fact that he is injured. Despite the agony it brought him, he turned his head to look back at the wound and saw it was covered in cobwebs, with strong smells covering the classic scent of old blood. It also looked quite clean. They probably treated him after he fell asleep the previous day. Nice of them, he didn't feel it then. Against the way he felt before, his back was quite relieved.

They were just a few claws slashed across his back, no fractured bones or hurt spine, just some cuts that were far too deep for a kit, and that could easily lead to an infection that would come if he hadn't gotten help soon enough. And blood loss, but that was secondary as the wound was naturally placed higher on the body and he wasn't bleeding out or anything. He could've been dead if it had been on his flank. Luckily it wasn't, and he was in a strange place where the cats probably stored herbs in case of emergency, that was at least what he assumed. He was awake now though, with enough energy to run around the barn three times, not that he would go back there. Not because of the barn itself, but because of what he could meet at the way. His head spun and a chill ran down his spine, the fun on his back spiking up in protest to relive the memory. He tried to get into a more comfortable position in the nest, so he partially sat up and noticed a cat entering.

// SPIDERVENOM sorry i swear it always takes me 20 minutes to write out a reply xD

  • the medicine cat den, luckily, hadn't been too full. but full enough that the apprentice needed to make sure they had enough herbs and food for all the bodies, especially the young kits. he wasn't one for being nice, but he had no reasons to be rude to someone so small and so helpless. kits that is. limping back. into his den, he moved to press more polutice on his own wounds, wincing slightly, as his eyes clouded over, replacing the scene that stuck in his head, like honey to fur. shaking his head, he turned his head, his tail flicking at the kit who had lifted his head and began to stir around. grabbing a small bit of herbs for pain, that wouldn't make the other sleepy, he placed it down in front of the kitten, sitting down with his own nest which happened to be close by. "you can eat those if you are hurting again." he started, shifting himself slightly. "you don't talk much, do you?"

    the stinging silence

Nettlekit shook his head. He didn't talk, actually. He watched the medicine cat with the herbs. Medicine against pain? Interesting. Even though he wasn't hurting that much, he suddenly wanted to try it out, just to see how it would work. He leaned forwards from the nest, suddenly tripping over the edge and falling down to the ground with a quiet rumble. Now that was a moment when the pain, striking up his back and causing his fur to spike up once again, was too much. He quietly whined and randomly picked one of the hebs that were now behind him, chewing on it and swallowing. It wasn't extremely tasty, and although he had no idea what he just ate, he trusted the clan cats enough not to poison this. And the medicine cats seemed to be doing this all the time, so there was probably only small room for error.

  • Spiderpaw just hummed slightly, raising a brow. "That's fine. You don't really need to talk. And trust me when u say I wish there were some cats here that were just as silent as you." He meowed, stretching himself out, as he began to groom his own fur, before flicking his ears back. "Seems the herbs have peaked your interest some, huh? I can teach you something. It's not much but I'm just an apprentice. I don't know as much as Owlgaze." He remarked, grabbing a couple of things out just in case the mute kitten really did want to learn, just for fun.

  • NETTLEKIT

    the stinging silence

The kit looked up at Spiderpaw, curiously glancing at the herbs as he spoke. He was beginning to really like this cat. He didn’t mind his silence and wasn’t adding to his pain, was willing to take care of him although he was a stranger, and the honeycomb he brought the first time they met, oh the honeycomb. It was so amazing, such a beautiful feeling to be chewing on the soft and thin walls, licking the perfection of all senses which was the golden streams coming out. He hoped no one got stung getting it, although it was more likely they did. Hopefully not the kind apprentice.

He really didn’t seem to be still in training though, although the older tom was visibly the boss. He was in awe about the precision and speed the medicine cats helped others in, and wondered how hard it was to learn all of it.

Teach him a bit about them? Of course. He didn't notice the other picked some out though and still kept looking at the entire storage. He scanned the herbs and moved towards one specific dark green plant. Maybe they could start with that one, it was laying at the edge. It was funny, spiky but it seemed soft and thin. He put his paw on it and touched the upper flat side. It was... soft. Fluffy and soft. Perhaps the spikes were soft too and would bend. And it did, but the moment his pawpads touched the bottom side of the leaf, he jumped back in surprise. Panic flashed in front of his eyes, did it just bite him? Did his curiosity get the best of him and would he die now? His eyes wide in fear and fur on his back raised up, he stared at his paw. It looked normal but felt as if a bee has just stung him.

//fun fact, not many people know this but only the bottom of nettle leaves stings, the above part is smooth and soft, just like our kitty over here :3
