  • the moons had come and gone, bringing with them change. winter had settled into the forest, prey was dwindling, sickness hung in the air, and asphodelpaw was now an apprentice. finally, after waiting for what felt like an eternity, he could show everyone what he could do! soon they would all sing his praise and regard him as the mighty warrior he would become. no longer would he be looked upon as a weak, helpless child. no, no, no. absolutely not! he was asphodelpaw now!

thinking about that made him giddy, his stomach fluttering with excited butterflies. asphodelpaw... he liked the sound of that! it had a much better ring to it than asphodelkit.

today, his mentor (who was an npc for now) was nowhere to be found. asphodelpaw scanned the clearing, checking every crack and crevice, even sticking his head into the warriors den to see if they were asleep. but he came up empty handed. ... did they go out on a patrol without him? the thought made him huff, his breath billowing out in front of him as he plopped down into the snow covering the camp floor. great. he had been looking forward to patrolling, or a training session. but no, his mentor had to leave without him, so now what was he supposed to do?

the apprentice fumed for a minute or two, his fluffy tail tip twitching and nose wrinkled into a semi-scowl. then, an idea hit him. straightening up and padding into the center of the camp where everyone could hear him, he cleared his throat. "who wants to spar with me?" if his mentor wouldn't take him out to train... he'd just have to take matters into his own paws!

  • Small grey ears pricked up at the prospect of a spar. Shellpaw's head swiveled around to see Asphodelpaw, the newest apprentice, calling from the center of camp. Well! Looks like this was an invitation to prove just how awesome she was. And to put this tom in his place (which was a funny thought, considering she was roughly the same age as him). But, anyone who knew the apprentice knew that she was always desperate to prove herself. Her kittypet heritage and partial deafness brought about massive insecurities that she had come to shroud with prickly words and somewhat rude behavior. Only some, like Peachpaw, Kai and Fallowkit, had been able to gain her full trust.

With a huff, the short and squatty she-cat stomped on over to the ginger and white tom with arrogance radiating off of her. She came to a halt in front of him, having to tip her head up to meet the much taller apprentice's gaze with her own narrowed one. "I'll take you on," She challenged with a smirk. In all actuality, Shellpaw's confidence was unearned. She...wasn't the best at fighting; not yet, anyway. She and Crimsoncry hadn't gotten too in depth with battle training, but she wouldn't let that "small" detail hold her back.

  • ✧ // our lives are made, in these small hours”Show im’ how to fight! You got this Shellpaw!” Crimsoncry’s apprentice was also his best friend. More than anything he believed she would be amazing. Shellpaw was already a powerful climber, and apparently he was no candle compared to her as he had struggled more than he liked to admit. He wasn’t close to Asphodelpaw, but he didn’t want to seem too biased because she was his best friend. ”Shellpaw’s my best friend and all, but if you try hard enough I’m sure you have a small chance of beating her.” he added with a small smile on his maw.

    Oddhare / 36 moons / Male

    ---------------------------------------

Go on with our lives and lose those things behind. Wrapped around with lie stand there voiceless

Shortie and edgey was finna spar. Well this was interesting. Oddhare didn't have a warrior cats name just the one his parents had given him. So he was slightly envious of the lot but hey he will gain trust and build his way up the ranks to become a decent warrior or feline who was accepted. Hunkering down he tucked his paws in watching the two of them.

It didn't feel like it had been so long since Cyclone was tussling with his kits, pretending that they could overpower him, and now Asphodel was an apprentice. The thought made him giddy. In just a few moons, his son would be a warrior! Flameseeker hadn't warned him how quickly their litter would grow up.

Returning to camp with an admittedly scrawny vole secured between his jaws, the silver tabby deposited his prey and turned to regard the trio of apprentices. He couldn't in good faith cheer for either of sparring cats more than the other; although Asphodelpaw was his biologically, Shellpaw was one of the many who Flameseeker had welcomed into their family.

Joining Oddhare, he let out a pleasurable sigh as he collapsed into a sitting position, cheerfully calling, "I'm sure you'll do great! I'm cheering for you both!"

  • his amber eyes lit up, watching one of his many siblings stomp over to him, any previous irritation melting from his features to make room for the anticipation that sparked inside of him. oh, this was going to be fun. his adoptive sister was nothing short of a spitfire, and while he may tower over her, she had the advantage when it came to physical strength and training. still, this did not uproot his confidence. he raised his chin and stared down at shellpaw, mirroring her smirk with one of his own. "nice to see you too, sis. are you ready to get shown up by your younger brother?"

two others had appeared by the end of his declaration, both of which he wasn't familiar with. the older one remained silent, settling down a ways away from the two siblings to watch. the other apprentice, however, piped up with some lighthearted quips of his own. "a small chance? i think you miscalculated!" came the quick retort from asphodelpaw, sticking his tongue out at oceanpaw.

cyclonebluster's presence and cheers only pushed asphodelpaw to strive even further for victory. he already couldn't afford to lose in front of his clanmates, but if his dad was watching, losing wasn't an option. not that he was afraid of losing. shellpaw may have strength on her side, but he had speed, and that had to count for something!

"alright! ready... set.... go!" the last word was barely put of his mouth before he lunged forward and aimed a few blows at shellpaw's muzzle with claws sheathed.

  • Shellpaw pricked her ears when a familiar voice began to cheer her on and she flashed the tom a grin. Oceanpaw was such a great pal; she had struck gold with him. Her ears grew hot in a bashful manner and then her adoptive father's voice caught her attention. Oh no, she had to impress Cyclonebluster. She couldn't embarrass herself now! The small she-cat pursed her lips indignantly and narrowed her eyes at Asphodelpaw, giving her adoptive little brother a challenging look. "You wish, tree trunks," She quipped to the lanky tom, lowering herself into a defensive crouch. Then, it had begun. Shellpaw reeled back as a barrage of strikes rained down on her muzzle, momentarily blinding her as she winced. With a light growl, she remembered her recent training with Crimsoncry, recalling his lesson on remaining balanced while dodging. Boy, had that come in handy just now. The short apprentice suddenly dropped her right shoulder and rolled away from Asphodelpaw's attacks before settling on her stomach. She suddenly pushed off with her hind legs, aiming to take the tom's long legs out from underneath him as she she shot beneath his belly.

  • Even though it was two members of his family who were sparring, Skitterpaw (as he quite literally skittered over, paws skidding across the blanketed ground) found himself more persuaded to cheer on his brother's side, eye's gleaming with awe and determination. "A-S-P-H-O-D-E-L-P-A-W! Whaddoes it spell? ASPHODELPAW!" cheered Skitterpaw, bouncing up and down on the spot he had settled in, sat beside his father, his energy spilling out of his voice in droves. Hey, maybe he should try this sparring thing sometime- he was more enticed toward hunting, if he was honest, but fighting couldn't be that bad! "Go, bro, go!"

  • ✧ // our lives are made, in these small hours

Oceanpaw grinned, hoping to be on par with his cheers just as Skitter was with his. "SHELLPAW! SHELLPAW! GET IM' UPPERCUT! YOU GOT THIS! GET HIS PAWS! OH-ALRIGHT! He wasnt sparring but the adrenaline was getting to him seeing his friends both do their best. Shell did have the advantage in size and experience, but he was sure they would be able to work it out somehow and prove their worths in their own way. He believed in them both. Looking at Oddhare, he heard the older tom was new and wondered what he thought. Sliding over, he leaned closer to the odd colored tom and whispered. "Who'r you cheering for?"
