run it back / power malfunction?

  • it'd been night when junepaw had crossed the border into solaris kingdom after spending a week in shadow veil to fulfill his duties as darkseeker in the pines, and to finally receive the order he had been waiting on for the past month. it was the first time he'd covered a larger distance since attaining the prosthetic and, thus far, he has not been disappointed. however, the spontaneous decision to return to the kingdom had been a poor one, made after attending his little sister's funeral and the infuriating meeting that occurred just before it.

to say he needed his space was a severe understatement, and so this was the reason why junepaw hadn't turned up in solaris' camp that evening. instead, he decided to spend a night under the stars. he hadn't ever been able to look up and into the inky skies and observe the stars that twinkled dully in its encompassing vastness. it was an impossible feat in the whispering pines, where the towering trees obscured all with its thick canopies. that night he fell asleep with little to truly worry about, his last thoughts of the night being of that of his late sister.

he wakes up just as the sun touches upon the horizon, and its warmth began to heat up the desert. it would have been a pleasant morning to wake up to if it hadn't been for the fact that he realized, rather suddenly, that he wasn't in the same place he had been before, and that he was standing back at the border. he doesn't notice that he's grown taller or that his ears weren't as big or that he wasn't even a cat anymore. no, he felt as if he were in some sort of dream state and, in a mild daze, stumbled over the border and towards the place he'd last fell asleep.

it was hard to look down at his own body. he wasn't dead ( no, in fact, he could see that he was still breathing - it looked as if he were just in a deep, intense slumber ), and he choked back a sound of confusion as he lifted his head and cringed. "holy shit ...what the fuck is even happening right now?" his mouth felt dry, his paws shaking as he plops himself onto the sand beside his unconscious feline body, wide amber eyes fixing themselves on his sleeping face.

"seriously, what the hell?" caught up in the numbing experience he was facing, he fails to notice anyone that would approach him as he curiously prods his own side to make sure that, with definitive fact, that he wasn't dreaming or that he wasn't actually dead. it probably looked suspicious, a dog smelling of nowhere leaning over some unconscious body - but junepaw didn't even consider this fact.

    - tldr; june's possession power decides to randomly awaken itself! for now, whenever he falls asleep, he will get transported into another body until he gets a grasp for the power. currently, he's in the body of a white saluki with gold accents and is lingering by his initial [unconscious] body.

since junepaw had returned at night, rosemary had not had a chance to see him or meet him. if anyone asked her who junepaw was, she probably would have stared blankly at them as she wracked her head for a face to the name, but she would end up telling them she didn't know. after all, junepaw had only come back recently, and rosemary still did not know everyone in the kingdom- something that she was trying to work on. lucky for her, she would get to meet junepaw, although in less than ideal circumstances.

the young trailblazer had been out early in the morning, awakened by an annoyingly loud bird. she had tried to fall back asleep, but her body was ready to rise, and so rosemary had decided to take a walk. it would get her blood flowing, and she could stretch her limbs out, and so when the bulk of the clan was awake, she would be her usual chipper self. rosemary's stroll had been uneventful, the only excitement being a particularly shiny beetle that she batted at, until she heard an unfamiliar voice that dripped with confusion and surprise. curiosity spiked up in her, so of course rosemary had to pick up her pace and draw closer until she saw a lanky dog looming next to a sleeping cat.

this was weird. rosemary did not know the dog, and she did not know the cat, but she did know that the distinctive scent of the solaris kingdom did not cling to the canine's fur. perhaps he was a newcomer, but even a night in the solaris kingdom would make him smell different, rosemary reasoned. she took a small, slow step forward, careful not to get too close. "uhm... i think what's happening is that he's asleep." rosemary had no idea why somebody would sound so baffled over someone else sleeping. the dog had to have seen somebody sleep before, right? this couldn't be new to him. "who- who are you? you're in the solaris kingdom's territory."

  • "Is this a joke?"

"I can always depend on you" — Ashe

Ashe barely knew Junepaw, but hearing the commotion caught the sunguard's attention and he began to walk over with a look of confusion on his face and a frown upon the silver feline's maw. "...Whats going on over here?" he asked them with a confused look upon his maw before he stared directly at Junepaw's new body, he himself was also wondering how the saluki had gotten onto their territory.

"Sorry its just...strange on how you even gotten into our territory in the first place" he explained backing up Rosemary and her questioning on how this stranger even gotten here, but of course he had no realization that standing in front of them was Junepaw.

  • he was startled when a new voice suddenly reached him, and shuffled away from the origin's of the voice, whipping his head around to stare down the girl that approached him. his molten gaze was ablaze, his eyes narrowing at her pointless observation. what, did she think he was stupid or something? "well yeah, i can see that." he can't help but snap impatiently at rosemary, smoke trailing from between his teeth and blowing outwards from his flaring nostrils. his grouchiness stemmed from the fact that this entire situation seemed to happen out of no where, much like how it had when he had gotten his fire elementals. he wasn't even sure what has sparked this odd power awakening - was it his perpetual state of being pissed off at the world? or was it something beyond his comprehension? either way, it pissed him off, and he didn't have time for someone who wouldn't help him.

he turned his back to her to further examine his feline form, even going so far as to pick himself up in between his jaws. that was, he would have done so if rosemary and ashe hadn't asked their questions. "what?" his amber gaze, smoldering, snapped back to the two solarians standing near him. were they serious? "it's me. junepaw. y'know ...someone who's living here?" the puzzled and exasperated boy looked between the two, looking for any hint of recognition in their eyes before he turned away from them once more. "i just walked right on in. someone wasn't doing their job, apparently." he'd gotten so far into the territory and no one had stopped him. but that didn't really matter here, it was mostly june just being sarcastic since he wasn't in the most pleasant of situations currently. they'd have to forgive him for his short - tempered attitude.

he huffs as he looks over his initial, unconscious body for a long moment. "so i ...guess this isn't some kind of a weird dream." junepaw had crazily realistic dreams before, like the one of him dying, and him killing mercy. "that's me. i'm looking at myself in another person's body. ugh." he feels queasy, and he grimaces as he shuffles his pale paws against the ground. "do either of you two know how this could've happened? why i fell asleep, and then woke up a completely different person?" he pokes his siamese body with his paw again, scrunching his nose as he watched himself roll limply onto his side. "the hell ...this better not be permanent."

  • TAGS ☆彡probably a power or something, he'd reply aloofly to junepaw, as he approached. he knew it was a power, and he knew exactly which one it was, considering his mother had it, but the other male's previous statement had irked him. irked him enough to make him petty, that's for sure. so, he'd lazily shrug his shoulders, and study the discarded body disinterestedly.

  • Sangria didn't like to classify herself as an early bird or a night owl, as she tended to be awake and around at any point in the day. However, after her recent run in with Tempus and her mild amusement with the sun rising, the girl found herself waking up just that bit earlier to reach the shoreline and watch the sun rise. Her brisk walk, ears drawn back and a yawn parting her jaws, was broken by nearby words. Cusses spat without a care, confused Clanmates trying to subdue the first voice. Her initial reaction would've been to approach at a meager, maybe annoyed, pace. Another sunrise in her short life to be missed, after all. However, the first voice belonged to Junepaw, and her mild trot shifted into something more - a jog, worry creasing her brow.

She arrived just behind the others, looking over the canine with gentle confusion. She must've heard wrong - she wanted to believe so, mediate the situation, and get on with her life. But he spoke again, muttering about some power and nudging the body beside him, one she hadn't noticed until then. The calmness of the situation did little to soothe the crushing girl, the fur on her shoulders prickling and her wings flaring up as she looked down at the siamese, his missing leg replaced but his eager blue eyes closed. Dead - no, not dead. Asleep, in a deep rest.

Sangria moved to the front of the three, fear and worry clear in her eyes. It was obvious to see that it was more distress and agitation that bothered Junepaw, rather than pain and suffering, and yet she couldn't help but feel so saddened that he had to fall for this nasty trick. Her powers trickled in slowly, and while she was far from gaining any sense of mastery in either one, she wasn't causing destruction nor was she swapping bodies unknowingly. She couldn't understand him, but she could pity him - something she knew he wouldn't like.

"Junepaw?" her voice was still raw from sleep, her eyes squinting up at the saluki. This body, she would admit at a later time, was handsome like his old one, but she would always prefer the warm chocolate browns of the comatose body. Her mangled paw reached up, almost extending out, almost touching him and acting as if this was a figment of her tired imagination. Junepaw was at her paws, asleep, not within this dog before her. But she wasn't an idiot, and she knew acting like one wouldn't get her anywhere. Her wings pulled back against her body, however loose as worry and confusion still tugged at their tips. The pink pad of her paw finally finished the vague action, resting lightly atop his. Never once did he get angry at her, not when she cried into his shoulder, not when she claimed she would return the favor, not with anything. Yet somehow, his new body and his current agitation drove fear into her core. She didn't like it, not one bit, but she didn't hold back, "Are you okay?" she eventually asked, tone still light and head tilted up towards him.

to say that rosemary looked rebuffed was an understatement. she had processed that ashe had drawn up near them and asked a few questions, but her focus had been on junepaw, and when he snapped at her, her ears flew back with a hasty, "okay." was she used to people snapping at her? certainly not. although her observation had been useless, she didn't know it was until he kept talking. he was insisting that he was junepaw, that he lived in the solaris kingdom, and that he fell asleep and woke up in a different body. rosemary was baffled by the situation and still nursing hurt feelings that would probably not get an apology, and probably didn't deserve one. oh, how sensitive she could be. rosemary was proving to be less and less useful in all, with no idea why he switched bodies.

aether offered an idea, and rosemary wished she could agree or disagree, but she didn't know the capabilities of powers. she knew that shapeshifting existed and she knew that telekinesis existed. other powers were a mystery to her. at least sangria cleared it up once and for all that it was junepaw. she watched as the serval hybrid went forward and gently rested a paw on top of his. they must know each other well, rosemary reasoned. if sangria liked him, then that meant he was probably less hostile usually. she couldn't blame him too much for his agitated tone- he was stuck out of his original body and seemed to have no idea how to get back. she didn't offer any more words to the situation, instead opting to back up and let sangria take the lead.

  • perhaps if junepaw hadn't been so out of it in the moment, he would have minded his flaring temper. her feeling hurt flew way over his head, simply ignored as the girl offered no solution to his problem. a part of him felt bad for getting so angry at her when she hadn't been the one to put him in the situation he was in now, but he'd simply discarded the feeling with an irate wag of his tail. it wasn't like she was exactly helping him either, so he felt in the moment that he had very little to be sorry about.

aether's coldness wasn't very well - received either, as he only rolled his eyes heavenward. he'd figured it was some kind of new power a while ago, and the dawningcrown's brother being an ass to him for no reason wasn't a good way to calm him down to say the least. "thanks for the oh so very insightful explanation, ass." he mumbled under his breath with a huff, a thicker trail of smoke curling around his slim and elongated muzzle. his lips pulled back slightly as his blunt claws curled into the sand, trying hard to ignore all of the people that were just standing around. if they wouldn't help him, he'd have to do something himself ...just like he always did, since he couldn't ever hope to rely on others to help him when he needed it.

the fur along his shoulders raising, all of the fire that wanted to spill out of him in his increasing frustration seemed to extinguish itself entirely at sangria's voice. burning amber eyes, smoldering with emotions indiscernible, shifted towards the molly as she made her way to stand in front of the three that were there. he was instantly grateful for her appearance, but the look in her eyes made him clench his jaws. pity was something he had never liked getting from others ...he'd gotten so much of it from the day he'd lost his leg, and lost just about everything else in his life, too. he never wanted it since it did nothing but make him feel like he never had anything under control but... sangria was right. he'd never gotten angry at her, never will have to heart to, if he were frank. somehow, he understood that she would truly wanted to help him, and that her promises to him weren't empty.

the saluki blinked. he hadn't realized sangria had laid her paw upon his until he heard her words. "are you okay?" was he okay? when was he ever okay? "i ...no." junepaw stammers uncharacteristically, his fiery gaze now becoming subdued, extinguished, embers of what was left over barely simmering. "i don't know, ria." the frustration was still very much clear in his voice, but his initial anger had mostly disappeared. and now he just looked helpless in his frustration, thin wisps of smoke trailing skyward steadily as he falls into a resigned silence.

  • [ ignore how late this is gbakdurbakj ]

While the fire in Junepaw's eyes dimmed and became but gentle sparks of vague annoyance, warmth bloomed in Sangria's chest. Only for a moment did she think of the affect she had on the boy, how she adored him with all she could and how he trusted her and became calm around her. A lot had happened - she could see pain lingering in his smoldering gaze - but she didn't ask. She relished in the fact that he didn't lash out at her for her soft question, for her moments of pity, for her paw on his - before attempting to move on and help him, just as she promised she would.

"You don't have to know," she tried to keep her voice steady, her eyes on his and moving so slightly should he try to glance away, "Not now, at least," she reassured him. A moment passed before she removed her paw from his, shifting her weight and finally removing her dual-colored eyes from him, and onto... well, him. She stared at Junepaw's feline body for only a moment, before leaning over to touch it with her nose, "Let's bring it - him? - back to camp, and we can try to figure out as much as we can then," she kept it open, space for Junepaw to interject, to correct, to object all he wished. She felt he had a right to be upset, and even if he was only simmering now that didn't mean he couldn't flare up again, "I can make you tea," she offered at last, looking up from cat-June and back to dog-June.
