"Yes," Thraka nodded. "I felt something from you, when we met earlier. You...had a very unique aura around you, so to say. An aura that could only belong to those who possess this power." And she was still feeling it right now. Thraka was almost certain that she had found who they were looking for. "Tell me, have you ever wondered where the Monsters come from?"

“well... not really.” Lara admitted. “I just knew we had to keep people safe. Why?”
-
"Well, we believe that your power could potentially be the key to pinpointing their origin," Juno said. She took in a deeper breath, and then she looked back at Amadeo, indicating that it was his turn to speak.
"But we don't know yet if you actually have this power," Amadeo said. "All we have is suspicions."
"But our suspicions are strong enough to share them with you," Thraka said. She looked around then, and then she looked back at Lara with a serious look in her eyes. "Whatever you do, do not tell anyone else about this. And...keep this in mind: Grandmaster Everett isn't who you think he is." -
Lara felt a weight settle on her but she nodded slowly. “Okay... well... how do we know if I have this power?” She had to make sure they weren’t lying to her or leading her on for a joke.
-
"Try commanding the Monsters," said Thraka. "According to what we know about this power, you can command them and...purify them. But commanding is the easiest part of it, we believe. Keep in mind that it could be very difficult to control a Monster. They are mindless beasts, first and foremost. But perhaps you can do something to tame them, at least a little bit."
-
Lara frowned, taking a monster sounded difficult, especially if she couldn’t tell anyone else. “How am I supposed to do that without my team knowing?”
-
"Try it subtly," Thraka instructed. "It could be done mentally, but verbally would make it easier. And really, who's going to hear you while they're busy fighting a Monster?"
"Probably me," Amadeo said. "i'm pretty nosy."
"Shut up, Amadeo." -
Lara nodded slowly. “Alright... on the next mission I’ll try then.” She promised them.
-
"Good," said Thraka. And then she and Juno and Amadeo turned their backs to her, and then they began to walk off. But meanwhile, Thraka looked back over her shoulder toward Lara, her eyes hard and serious. "We'll meet back here, at around the same time as now. Don't be late, and tell me if you have any results." And then with that, she was gone.

The girls were once again on a mission, this time in a desert to go clear a nest of new snake Monsters that had popped up a little bit too close to a town for comfort. "So, snakes, huh?" Ruby said as they trekked through the sands. "I wonder how big those are."
"Honestly, if the Monsters don't kill me first, I think this heat will," Tala panted.
-
Lara didn’t answer, lost in trying to figure out how she was going to manage this whole taming thing. Maybe if they split up it would work better?
-
"Well, speaking of the Monsters, there they are!" Ruby said. She pointed over toward them. The Snake Monsters—apparently named Fangs—all looked about eight feet tall, which is way taller than Ruby was comfortable with a snake being. But right now, she and Tala both stopped and glanced at each other, and then back at them. "So, we got a battle plan here or what?"
-
Lara swallowed nervously. “Just do what each of us do best.” She told them simply, seeing Saren give her a confused look. They always had some kind of a plan to try and follow.
-
"Huh. So, just go with the flow, huh?" Ruby said. Although she did find it rather odd for Lara to say that, she trusted Lara enough to know what she's talking about.
"Are you sure?" Tala asked Lara, raising a brow at her.
-
“I’m sure.” Lara spoke a bit stronger then, but she was staring at the monsters, silently willing them to back down without a fight.
-
The Fangs didn't seem to back down, though, and Tala noticed Lara staring at them. "Are you okay, Lara?" Tala asked, raising a brow at her. "You seem to be staring at them quite intensely."
-
“I’m fine.” Lara muttered, frustrated it wasn’t working. “Let’s just go.” And with that she led the way in, hoping to be able to speak aloud.
-
Ruby and Tala exchanged glances, but they followed Lara toward the Fangs, then. And as the Fangs caught sight of them, they all let out large hisses and slithered toward them. One of them had their head shoot up and go down toward Ruby, but Ruby quickly dodged, and as she did so, she landed a punch straight toward the Fang's head, and the Fang reared up, hissing loudly.
-
Lara pulled her bow off but her thoughts were still focused on getting the monsters to stand down.
