It was until around sunset when Urendi found them and came to go fetch them back to the ledge. Aluya seemed relieved that the tour was over now, and she and the others gladly followed him back to the ledge where Ellavan had been in for a couple of hours. "They're going to finish up soon," said Urendi. "We're going to get our results soon."
"And let's just hope that it doesn't end in yet another rejection," Aluya snorted. "We've had far too many of those."
"It won't," Vinthis said. "I'm sure of it."
"I'm sure they'll accept him," Ellitiren said. "Ellavan is brave, and strong, and kind, and...and he's handsome...and..." Ellitiren's speech soon devolved into stammers as his face went red, and Aluya shot him a look with raised eyebrows, her eyes filled with amusement and curiosity. -
Avanae glanced at Ellitiren when he was going on about Ellavan, noticing that Phryis seemed to be nodding along in agreement without thinking it was strange. “Ellavan is fit to be a king.” She agreed, trying to move the attention past Ellitiren until he decided who he wanted to know.
-
They waited for a few moments, and then Ellavan came up, along with Grandmaster Noemos. The Buzzard looked at them, and Ellavan went up to them. "We approve of your decision," said Grandmaster Noemos. "I will continue to discuss this with the rest of the Phoenix Court, but soon enough we will make a public announcement. Thank you." And with that, Noemos went back down inside, and Ellavan let out a deep, relieved breath.
-
Avanae nudged Ellitiren gently, giving him a warm smile. “Look at that, you found the new king.” She murmured.
”I-We knew they’d approve of you.” Phryis was telling Ellavan. -
"Well, would you look at that," Aluya murmured, sounding somewhat stunned. "Well, congratulations! I suppose I should trust Grandmaster Noemos on his decision here. You are the first one they've ever approved of. Now let's see if you can live up to the title that you have been given."
Ellavan gave the rest of them a small smile, and he looked at the others.
"See? I knew it," Vinthis grinned, and then meanwhile Ellitiren walked up toward Ellavan and held his hands in his own.
"Do you feel okay?" Ellitiren asked him.
"I'm alright," Ellavan murmured, gripping Ellitiren's hands in return. And then he looked back at the rest of them. "Thank you all, though." But there was some fear in his mind as he thought of the idea of being king. He had been imprisoned for being an heir...was it going to happen again, just because he was decided as the new heir to Ensivia?
-
Phryis hung back a bit then, suddenly wondering... he had called her his friend earlier. But would he still want her around now that he was heir again? She wasn’t entirely sure she wanted to know the answer to that.
Avanae didn’t notice her hanging back, focused on congratulating both Ellavan and Ellitiren. -
Ellitiren smiled at Ellavan, and then he gathered him up in an embrace. Ellavan returned it, and then Ellitiren soon drew away from him, his face flushed. But Ellavan didn't seem to notice how red Ellitiren's face had gotten. "I know you'll be great," Ellitiren said to him, giving Ellavan's hands one last squeeze.
"I hope so," Ellavan said. And then he looked over at Phryis and smiled at her.
"He's completely oblivious," Vinthis muttered to Avanae, watching as Ellavan soon drew away from Ellitiren and walked over to Phryis.
-
Avanae nodded in agreement. “I think all three of them are, actually.” Phryis seemed a little startled when Ellavan smiled at her but she seemed to brighten immediately.
-
"Hi, Phryis," Ellavan said to her as he approached her. "How have you been while I was gone?"
-
Phryis smiled as she looked to him. “Okay, we got to hear Vinthis give a speech about you.” She told him softly. “But I’m glad you’re doing okay...”
-
"Vinthis gave a speech?" Ellavan asked. He looked over at his younger brother then, and Vinthis gave him a shrug with a rather proud-looking smile on his face.
"Everybody totally loved it. You should have seen it," Vinthis said with a large grin on his face, but Aluya beside him rolled her eyes.
-
Phryis shook her head slightly with a small smile. “It was pretty impressive.” She admitted. “But I’m sure everyone that was there backs you now.” She murmured. “Although I can’t see why anyone wouldn’t support you.”
-
"I see," Ellavan murmured. So now everyone back there supported him? Well...if they were, then he was certainly flattered. But he wasn't quite sure what he had done to ever deserve it. Still, there were people counting on him whether or not he deserved it, and he might as well make sure that all his efforts counted. He didn't know what he would do if they didn't.
(( Time skip? ))
-
Phryis touched his arm gently. “And we’re all still here with you.” She murmured. “Just because we support you doesn’t mean you can’t come to us.” She reminded him, feeling like her cheeks may begin to burn soon if she kept touching him but at the same time she didn’t really want to stop.

They had been set to go to sleep for the night. Most of the others went to go sleep within the tunnels, but fortunately, since they were special guests, they got to stay inside somebody’s house. Despite the cracked and dirty exterior, it was surprisingly clean and well-kept on the inside. Vinthis was asleep at the moment, but Ellavan was still awake. He couldn’t get to sleep right now. And he thought that he saw Ellitiren outside as well, having come back from his training. So Ellavan got up, and began to head out the door.
-
Phryis shifted slightly and saw Ellavan getting up to leave. "Ellavan?" She mumbled, but she expected him to keep going.
-
Ellavan stopped for a bit, but he didn't look back at her. "I'm just...going to go take a walk outside," Ellavan murmured. "You can come join me, if you want." Then he went through the door, leaving the home.
-
Phryis was both surprised he stopped and that he offered her to join. But she got up and quickly followed after him. "Do you want me to come with?" She asked softly even though she knew he wouldn't have offered if he didn't.
-
"If you want to come, then go ahead," Ellavan said. He went outside and felt the cool night breeze hit his skin, and as he looked up, he could see the old royal palace of Ensivia, resting upon the mountaintop from across the city. Even in its downtrodden state, Ellavan could imagine it in all its glory. And perhaps one day, it was going to be his.
