Matthew did enjoy that he wasn’t in a house that reeked of blood and sweat. And he figured he wouldn’t have to constantly keep flowers on him since it seemed pretty safe here so he could relax and not worry about inhaling any bad air. Matthew looked over at Hugo. “I think I’m adjusting pretty well.” Matthew responded rather softly and contently.

Hugo smiled hearing that. "I'm glad you are. I'm sorry about the little ones about...I just didn't want to leave them to fend for themselves. We all have something in common after all, this plague took our families so now we're all a big family" he explained
-
Matthew quietly listened as to what Hugo was saying. He really did feel sorry for the little children who had their families succumb to the plague, though he could relate on to what they went through as now he was parentless which he would have trouble adjusting to for a while. But he prayed that his parents were not going to be thrown into any mass graves as he wouldn't want that. "I know... but it's going to take me a while to adjust to not having my parents with me anymore." Matthew murmured softly while biting his inner cheek.
-
"I know...it takes time to adjust. I'm still adjusting to my father's passing only a few months ago. He was a good man, but he's somewhere better, as I'm sure yours are as well" Hugo assured. He felt sorry for the young man still. "How about I show you to your room?"
-
Matthew briefly averted his eyes from Hugo and he had to keep his composure and not break down. But he was pretty tired and drained of energy from no sleep for two days straight. He missed sleeping on a warm and comfortable bed. "Y-Yes please, I'm pretty exhausted." Matthew nodded.
-
Hugo motioned for him to follow. The home has more rooms than most, but it was likely that people were going to have to share. In this case, Matthew happened to be sharing his room with Hugo. "There's two separate beds, yours is by the window" he explained
-
Matthew meekly and quietly followed Hugo, not saying a word until they got to the bedroom. "A-Alright. Thank you." Matthew spoke softly and he wasn't really feeling the best right now, most likely due to the lack of sleep. He honestly did not mind sharing a room but he was grateful it was two separate beds at least.
-
Hugo looked at him then noticing how tired he was. "You should rest, you need it. I'll be waking you later for supper" he offered. He remmebered Matthew explain how he hadn't slept for two days straight. He thought he should get some sleep then. "I'll give you some privacy, I have some other cases to attend to"
-
Matthew looked at Hugo and then he was quite happy that he was told that he should sleep. “O-Okay.” He stuttered out rather tiredly and then he made his way over to his bed.
-
Ooc: could we timeskip a bit to a few days? The two of them have gotten to know each other better some by then
-
OOC; yeah we can do that. Can you start? My phone is dying.
-
Ooc: sure
Ic: It had been a week or so and Hugo had gotten used to Matthew's presence in his home. It was a bit different than the others he had allowed in, since Matthew was close to his own age and shared the same room as him. He had to admit he was starting to like the young man. It was early morning and he rose with the sun to get breakfast prepared for those in the house. He turned to Matthew seeing him wake up. "Morning, would you want to help with breakfast this morning?"
-
Matthew had slowly been adjusting to his new life and home with Hugo and the others. It was strange at first but he slowly got used to it and he was actually enjoying the company now. After he was waking up, he rubbed at his eyes before looking at Hugo. “Yes, I’d like to help.” He nodded.
-
"Follow me to the kitchen then, I think the bread has risen during the night" Hugo explained
-
Matthew nodded and he slid off of the bed and he briefly stretched before he proceeded to follow Hugo to the kitchen area of the house.
-
Hugo walked in with him. "What shall we make today for everyone?"
-
Matthew briefly looked at Hugo before he thought for a moment. “Maybe we can make brown bread, broiled fish, and eggs for everyone.” He suggested, at least that was a breakfast he had been used to since he was a child and it was his favorite thing to eat for breakfast.
-
Hugo listened to his suggestion before smiling. "Sounds like quite the full meal. We'd have to catch the fish in the river and gather some of the eggs though. Could you gather eggs?"
-
Matthew nodded his head rather eagerly towards Hugo. “Mhm, I can go out and gather up the eggs.” He piped out, seeming relaxed and cheerful at the moment. Then he started to go outside.
-
Hugo left him to it before going out as well to catch the fish. He returned and was in the process of broiling the fish glancing back at Matthew as he entered with the eggs
