  • Matthew knew he was being stubborn. But he didn’t want his parents to die. After a few minutes, Matthew was finally relenting. “Alright.” He mumbled reluctantly. He was still unsure about it but his parents looked horrible. And he guessed it was best to put them put of their agony. “Fine, I’ll do it.” He decided.

  • Hugo was surprised about him agreeing to do it. "I'll leave you to it...after it's done, you'll be moving out. I made a promise to your mother that I would take care of you now so you will be living with me"

  • Matthew was surprised at what Hugo said. He wasn’t sure about it but he silently agreed to it and he nodded. “A-Alright.” He stuttered out and he took a look at his parents, biting his lip. At least he would not be alone anymore and that brought him some comfort. He wanted to be alone right now so he could put his parents out of their misery in peace and privacy.

  • Matthew nodded and he waited until Hugo left. He swallowed harshly and he wiped at his eyes, glad that he was given peace and privacy with his parents. It only took a bit but he finally put them out of their agony which brought him comfort and he knew they were gonna have to be collected by the death collector. Matthew quickly went outside, feeling a sharp ache in his chest.

  • Hugo waited outside feeling sorry for Matthew. He remembered how he had to do the same to his own father and could only imagine how hard this was for Matthew. He turned to him as he made it outside. "I'm sorry you had to do that

  • Matthew shut the door and he looked at Hugo. “I-I know.” He said, sounding gloomy and sad with what he had to do. He was visibly shaking as well. He couldn’t leave his horse in the stable alone, though and he fidgeted visibly.

  • Matthew turned his attention back to looking at Hugo. “Y-Yes, I have my horse that is in the stable nearby.” He explained briefly. Of course, it was the only animal that he had and he knew it wouldn’t be wise to leave the horse all by itself.

  • Matthew nodded and he made his way quickly to the stable, slipping on Briskly’s bridle before leading him out of the stable. Then he led the horse over to Hugo, Matthew did seem to calm down a little bit partially because he had his horse with him.

  • Matthew knew that Hugo was just trying to keep him calm and cool and just trying to distract him. And he went along with it for his comfort and he figured it was best for him. “T-Thank you.” Matthew thanked solemnly in a soft voice.

  • Matthew looked at Hugo, quite surprised that the doctor would even be taking in others. But he did not question it and in response, he just nodded and wrapped his fingers around Briskly’s reins.

  • Hugo walked with him down the road in silence except for their footsteps and the horse. He opened the door and out came running a few children to greet him. He smiled seeing them. "We have a new member of the family"

  • Matthew said nothing at all and the only thing breaking the silence was then sound of Briskly’s hooves clopping against the ground. Matthew knew he would have to adjust to being with others that lost their family members to the plague. Matthew let go of Briskly’s reins and honestly he just stayed silent, not really knowing what to say.

  • Matthew let his gaze go from looking at his horse over to looking at Hugo. “Alright.” Matthew said blandly as he started to go inside, slightly trusting Hugo with his horse but he didn’t seem really bothered. It wouldn’t hurt to relax and get adjusted to his new home.

  • Hugo went to help the horse into his own stable while some of the kids showed him around. Once Hugo returned, he went to remove his mask knowing it to be safe in the home for him. He went to check on Matthew then. "How's adjusting?"
