StoneClan
Part I: The Dark Time
Before StoneClan was formed into the solidified force it is today; the cats whom have made up the clan itself had been a simple band of strangers whom tolerated one another within the limits of purely survival purposes. These cats had settled upon a flatland, although providing little protection from the outside elements, the strangers had thrived upon the merciful rainfall that would settle upon the lands as well as hunt the wildlife that would be pushed through the flatland’s seemingly endless expanse. It was peaceful, as the cats tolerated one another willingly enough and conflict seemed like something too far away for these cats to pay much heed to. However, in their complacent nature that had settled upon them, they were oblivious to what would soon come to befall them in their time of ease.
Ten generations after these nameless cats had settled upon the flatland that they called their home; soon stranger cats would come to them, battered and injured, far too weak to last upon their own strength alone. Due to the cats having no previous threats or even interaction with those living on the outside, in their compassionate hearts, they brought the strange scented cats into their ranks, treating their wounds and teaching them how to hunt the wildlife that they hunted themselves within their homeland. This however in their compassion would soon doom them to what would be forever referred to the “Dark Time”. The strange cats whom had been tended to had a leader, a foreign cat with an even stranger name and even more so unknown origins; a tom named Blackpath. Blackpath had found the cats upon the flatlands vulnerable in their kindness and innocence, as they had no central leader, Blackpath had settled upon himself to become the missing figure that they needed, a cruel leader whom would soon introduce the innocent souls to a path that they never knew. A path dripping in blood and suffering.
Through Blackpath slowly pushing himself into a leadership position, the innocent cats had trusted him, having already befriended the cats who he had led to the flatlands, they assimilated to his ways. However, he introduced unknown things to them, and forced them to pick up a path of violence to prove their worth to him. Gradually, Blackpath began warping the cats to fight amongst one another, to thin out the weak and old from their ranks, enforcing punishment on those whom dared showed defiance, and completely silencing those whom tried to raise their voice in protest. His era of terror proceeded onward as the flatlands were also being stripped bare of its prey, with Blackpath demanding excessive hunting and the ever pressing need for new blood to be birthed into the world, it was clear that the flatlands could no longer support Blackpath’s now subjugated group. So, it was soon underneath his choice that Blackpath would move his now fear filled group into territory beyond the ancestral home of the formerly innocent cats he had captured.
Part II: The Great Voyage
Underneath Blackpath’s leadership, it was then that the fearful cats whom he had subjugated underneath him would be forced to leave the flatlands that they only knew. The first few days were met with little morale with the cats he now led into land unknown. Death although now not uncommon had seemed to cling to the large group of cats as many had lost their will to live, their hearts having rested with their home, their will to live had faltered and many in mass amounts had slipped off into the void of death, crippling a vast majority of Blackpath’s numbers. However, Blackpath wouldn’t take pity on their poor souls, casting those whom died into mass burial pits for the buzzards to feast upon their flesh, as such this was met with reluctant acceptance and yet disgust in his blatant disregard for the dead. The cats were pushed even further, forced to their limits as Blackpath granted them little time to sleep and very little time to recover from past injuries, and due to moving through climates that the once innocent cats were unused to, many had also died from the sheer stress upon their bodies.
Through harsh weather did the remaining cats were forced to soldier on, forced to keep moving despite crying out for the rest they wanted. Blackpath wouldn’t relent however, and soon the exhausted group, pushed to their limits and only surviving upon the fear Blackpath had instilled within them of his demands, they had finally reached a new home; vastly different from their previous one, and a home that was already occupied by strangers, a group that they would soon assimilate into their culture and ranks, though of course not by peaceful means.
Part III: The Dawn
The cats soon would settle into a humid forest, thick with prey and vast river systems. Vastly different from their previous home, Blackpath soon had forced his exhausted cats to begin repeating what he had forced them to do before, produce young blood and hunt without regard to the amount of prey they were slaughtering. This of course, wouldn’t go unnoticed as the forest was already occupied by cats they had yet to come face to face with. The forest was already occupied by a group whom called themselves StoneClan. This clan, led by who would be known as the fearful cat’s new leader; a tomcat named Morningstar had found the disturbances within the territory and would soon come to find the cats whom had been forced to settle in. Thus, due to this discovery a war would break out between the warped Blackpath and the stranger, Morningstar and his group. The battles were fierce and numerous, yet with the wavering moral of the cats underneath Blackpath’s control, Morningstar had taken advantage of the obvious hatred of Blackpath and soon granted refuge and safety underneath his leadership. Many of course would soon join Morningstar, and thus Blackpath’s reign would abruptly end. The leader whom had terrorized them would do so no longer, and thus Blackpath would soon be slaughtered by the cats who he had thought he had control over, and as promised Morningstar who would be seen as these cat’s savior had accepted them within his clan’s ranks, offering them time to recover and fully accept the foreign ways that were presented to them.
Part IV: The Cataclysm
However, peace would not last. Although moons after Blackpath’s death, another vast change would settle upon the StoneClan cats; the earth itself would rip and shatter, forever changing the homeland these exhausted cats were trying to adapt to. The shaking had happened suddenly, and the fear that had swallowed the clan so suddenly had caused many to fall to the earth which churned and split open, swallowing up trees and unfortunately taking many cats with it. As such, the humid forest would soon be vastly changed, with a massive split running through the center of the territory and stretching for miles. Within the unexpected event, the cats would unfortunately lose their leader, their hope in the dark: Morningstar. As everything had settled, and the shock would wane, the clan would once more struggle to bring themselves together, suffering being something that would change them, and soon they could only hold onto the promise that the future may provide them, something that even now remains uncertain.
Territory-
StoneClan’s territory is a humid forest, although vastly changed from the cataclysm that had assailed it moons ago. Majority of the forest where the clan itself lives resides within the grassy, thick and forested areas that still remain. It is here that plenty of prey still thrives, and many river and cave systems had formed, thus giving plenty of room for exploration and places to gather water. However, this grassy area is split by a massive “scar” within the earth which separates the still livable territory from the other side of the territory where StoneClan had originally resided. It is now referred to as the Dead Lands, and also serves as the clan’s burial grounds due to many of the cats having been swallowed up by the earth there. It is here that the dead ground and barren trees are mostly sacred grounds and are not to be trespassed upon for any reason, and due to fear of the earth tremors, it is forbidden for most if not any cats to approach or even walk upon the Dead Lands.
Further out south from the territory, toward the center of where the cataclysm had laid waste to the territory, a large, shining rock protrudes upward from the churned earth and glows even in the harshest of sunlight. This rock, formerly having been hidden by a small cave where StoneClan had approached it for moons on end, seeking answers from their warrior ancestors referred to as StarClan. It is here that the deputy receives their nine lives upon the death of a previous leader, or medicine cats seek guidance from their ancestors.
