    Witchwood Academy

In a world grounded in the laws of reality, a world terrified by the magical and magnificent, young witches can only do so much with their power. Their abilities must be kept hidden, locked away in attics and cupboards, practiced only in secret.

This is what Witchwood Academy is for.

Elder witches use their years of experience to teach the new generation the ways of magic in a safe space, along with everything else they need to know for life in the real world. Here magic is encouraged. Here, witches are surrounded by witches, in a place where they can truly be understood.

    Primrose Avens~

Prim held onto the leather grip of her suitcase like her life depended on it, nervously tightening her hold on the bag as she stared up at the school, the wooden doors towering over her. It was entirely irrational, to be so anxious entering her safe haven; but Prim had never relied on her own feelings to be rational. The world around her, it seemed, was willing itself to make something go wrong.

It took a deep breath and a conscious loosening of her grip for her to work up the courage to open the large doors and begin making her way to the dormitory tower. Finally, the seemingly endless summer was over. Finally, the next year's term was beginning, and Prim and her classmates were welcome back to the academy.

Prim seemed to have arrived early. It was eerie, walking through the echoing halls without the other students she was used to, but there was a comfort to being alone. Prim almost ran up the stairs to the dormitory, speeding through the common area and into her own room.

Her plants and furniture had already been delivered, in the exact same pattern she had left them last year. Prim set her suitcase of clothes and other small belongings on the bed and turned to the window to watch as other students began to approach the school. Prim tried not to be worried; she grabbed a book out of her bag and headed down to the common room to wait.

She would have to meet her classmates sooner or later, after all. There was no use avoiding it.

to kal, it was just another year at school. he always arrived early, because it was better than spending even more time at the homeless shelter he spent his summers at. the excitement of returning to school had by now faded into something more like an anticipation to be hidden away from the world again. to not have to breathe in the moggy air of the city or have to deal with the fines his mother had wracked up before jail.

stepping into the great, cobbled hall, kal breathed a deep breath. safe. home. with his trunk rolling behind him, he ascended the stairs into the dormitory. kal didn't have many belongings, so his room stood barren aside from the items in his trunk, which took little time to unpack. a photograph of him and his mother and a glass figurine of a black cat stood on his nightstand while his black overcoat hung off one of the bed posters. he turned and took in the familiar sight, one for sore eyes, before allowing one rare, tiny smile to grace his features.

Sariel sighed softly as she slowly walked up to the school. Her arms throbbed with the new bruises she had gotten recently but she was here now. She was safe. Silver hair flashed as stunning blue orbs studied the large doors. She gently used one hand to push the doors open slowly as she took a deep breath, turning her head as a soft hoot called her attention and she gave a timid smile towards the gorgeous white owl on her shoulder. One finger gently stroked down her soft back as the owl gently preened her hair softly, running her beak through the silvery strands. "Thank you hun." Sariel murmured gently, her eyes softening.

Sariel gently clutched her suitcase close to her as she started up the stairs to her dorm room. Mainly moving out of habit to her room as she gently opened the door. Making sure no one else was a round as she placed her suitcase on her bed as she sighed. Her owl flew from her shoulder to perch on the bedpost as she sat down, gently rolling up the baggy sleeves to study the dark purple bruising. She gently wriggled out of the cardigan, her long silver hair tumbling down her back in a shimmering silver curtain. Her short sleeved shirt hugged her body, accentuating her body softly as she stood up, holding some salve in one hand as she headed for the bathroom, her long ebony skirt swirling around her ankles softly as she tilted her head. Rubbing the salve on the bruises near her neck and on her arms. Her fingers gentle but quick at the same time.

  • Plum’s frantic footfalls echoed down the humble halls of Witchwood as she sped through them. “Shoot, shoot, shoot! I totally lost track of time while exploring — I’m gonna be way late!” she cried to no one in particular, balancing a precarious stack of various luggage items and books. This would be the young witch’s first semester at the academy — it took years for her family to scrape together enough to provide her with the necessities — and she couldn’t be more thrilled...or nervous. She already missed her siblings terribly, and this lofty palace of a school was dizzying in comparison to the small and comfortable cottage she had grown up in. Still, she reminded herself that this was all for them. The fears and anxieties that she felt were soothed by the thought of her family’s smiles, as she continued running down the—

“Wuaaahhhhh!!” Plum shrieked as something large caught her foot. Within seconds, she had tumbled to the ground with about as much grace as a fish on land, and her belongings had scattered everywhere. Well hey, at least by the looks of it, she had found the common room.

Ludo barely even flinched as some day-dreaming ditz tripped right over him and splattered on the ground. Why should he concern himself over it? All he was doing was reading. “What gives?” he mumbled in a flat tone, not quite bothering to glance up from the page he was on.

“Wh- that’s my line! What on earth are you doing reading in the middle of the hall?!” the girl fired back, gesturing to his position. Ludo had assumed a cross-legged position on the floor, his back hunched and several seemingly random items placed haphazardly at his sides.

He shrugged, looking up for a moment. “This spot gets the best light,” the boy replied, as if the answer were obvious. Ludovic was a returning student, and as far as his family was concerned, they couldn’t have sent him back to Witchwood soon enough. He had already been here for hours, and wasn’t exactly leaping at the chance to get lectured by some stuffy professor. His pale gaze instead flicked to the luggage items that had spilled around the common room. “You should pick those up. Someone could trip over them,” Ludo added with the faintest shadow of a devious smirk.

Plum heaved an exasperated sigh before moving to retrieve her scattered objects, hoping to any higher power that she hadn’t made a clumsy first impression on all her classmates.

    Lovetta Dalnim Lee

It was always a relief for Lovetta to return to Witchwood, to be among other kids where she could practice her abilities. She loved her parents, she truly did, but they didn't understand her magic nor her seemingly odd connection with the stars. The school was a place for Lovetta to return to in order to hone her skills, and to also relax into her odd ways without fear of judgement.

Dressed in her usual black clothing decorated with stars and constellations, Lovetta had arrived to the school early in the morning. A sad necessity for the night loving girl, as traveling from the countryside of France took a while. Her room had been set up in the same way she had left it the previous year. Her walls covered in star maps and plastic glow-in-the-dark stars covered her ceiling in constellation patterns. Now she had returned to the common room to relax and catch up on her sleep without missing any of her friends coming in. Her stiletto boot covered feet were crossed at the ankles over the arm of a comfy chair, and her black leather shorts and velvet tank top covered her just modestly enough when paired with her mesh star patterned shawl.

Well, she had been sleeping until a large crash awoke her. Knowing how Ludo worked, Lovetta slowly got out of the comfy arm chair to help Plum. Heels clicking against the floor, she reached down to help collect Plum's items. "Don't worry about Ludo, he's usually like this. You'll get used to it, sweetie." Her voice came out in it's usual dreamy tone with a light French accent as she spoke to Plum while holding out some of the books she had picked up with a black nailed hand.

Sariel turned her head as a soft hoot called her attention from the work she was doing on her bruises. Her loyal owl , Vienna had perched herself on the bathroom counter, tilting her head at the girl. Amber eyes seeming to reassure the girl as she then flew to her shoulder. "I know ... I hear them too. Should we go down and join them?" The witch asked softly, running her fingers over the snowy white feathers to soothe her nerves as took a breath and set about covering her bruises with foundation. Her fingers gently applying the makeup to her pale skin so the dark colored marks were hidden from view before she took a deep breath and squared her shoulders.

Her blue orbs grew icy and cold as she locked away her emotions and took on her distant and cold personality. She didn't make friends last year and she sure as heck wasn't going to risk it this year. The silver haired witch strode down the stairs to peer into the common space, her eyes picking out Ludo, Plum, and Lovetta easily before she sighed and ran a hand through her silver hair, remaining in the shadows out of sight. It sure wasn't necessary to make herself known.... but Vienna apparently had other ideas. The snowy owl was always curious despite her mistress's unease and decided to go fly and check out the other three students. "Vienna, get back here!" Sariel hissed out, groaning inwardly as she stepped into the given light, cold blue gaze piercing as she sent a stern glare to the snowy who was circling above the three. Holding her arm up, the girl raised an eyebrow as Vienna hovered before dropping and perching on the outstretched limb. Her talons careful to not put pressure on the bruises she knew were there as she sidled up to the girl's shoulder and ran her beak through the shimmering strands of silver. Apologizing to her mistress as she hooted gently.

    [ f e m a l e | | s e v e n t e e n | | c h a r m s a n d p o t i o n s s t u d e n t ]

Nikki had just arrived after a long, nerve-wracking train ride to the Academy. While the other students already knew their rooms and some of the other witches, Nikki was going in blind. Being so shy, the young, black-haired girl hoped that she wouldn't run into anyone. Unfortunately, she had no idea where she was going. When she applied to Witchwood, there was a brief description of the castle, but now that she was here, it seemed gigantic. Without a pet, any friends, no supportive family, or any previous connection to the world of magick, Nikki was actually really anxious to start her life here. While most of the other witches saw Witchwood as a safe space the short, green-eyed girl couldn't help but feel like an outsider. Then maybe I should go inside, she thought to herself with a half-hearted chuckle. Realizing it would only get worse if she dragged it out, she tried to put away her thoughts of inadequacy, straighten her posture, and let out a sigh of finality. Opening the looming wooden doors, she stepped inside.

Walking through the main floor, she spotted the door to the library and suddenly felt comforted knowing there would be a place that she can hole down with a good book or study to her hearts content without the pressure of social expectations. Her heels clicked on the floor with an eerily hollow sound as she continued making her way towards where she thought the dorm rooms were. Nearing a giant spiral staircase, Nikki heard mumbles and steps from way above. She brushed her long hair away from her face, smoothed out her tight black dress, and hauled her single suitcase up to the top.

Reaching the top, she heard the flutter of a bird and some footsteps. Remembering that the application mentioned you would be able to bring a small pet, she assumed a cat or hamster or something. With so little knowledge about how witches normally live, Nikki had to keep from fleeing back down the stairs out of her absolute unwillingness to meet other witches. Remembering she had nowhere else to go, she rolled her luggage behind her as she slowly clicked her way down the hallway towards the common room's warm light that was bathing the floor in an orange glow around the corner.

  • annalise

girl glowed like warm amber or dying embers as she made her way towards the school. most of the fellow students would be there by choice. she wished she could say the same, but no, her parents were just desperate to get rid of her and her untamed power. exasperated, exhausted. they had no idea what to do with her. and so there she was: shipped off with nothing but a bag of clothes to her name. still, anna was determined to make the best of it. it was a school for witches for pete's sake! this was going to be exciting!

the castle loomed before her, but she met it with a giddy grin. bouncy step. anticipation built and built until she was nearly jumping up and down. in one swift motion, she swung open the door, calling out a warm -- "hello!" -- only to find herself faced with a corridor. surprise glistened in her honey eyes, quickly replaced with something more akin to disappointment. "where is everyone?" she'd sigh under her breath as she pushed through, taking moments to peek into doors as she passed. nothing. nothing. nothing. "okay..."

after what felt like years of wandering, annalise would eventually come to a very promising staircase. she'd ascend it with the same energy she had from the start, nearly barreling straight into another girl stalling in the hallway. "oh!" she chirped in surprise. had she-- had she actually found someone else? aiming to grab the stranger's free hand with both of her own, she'd offer a jubilant grin. "i've been walking for ages! you're the first person i've run into, and you have no idea how happy i am to see you." before she could explain that she hadn't meant her specifically, her mind was had switched topics. assuming the raven-haired girl even let anna take her hand in the first place, anna released her to gesture to herself. "i'm anna! well, annalise actually, but no one calls me that." bright eyes flickered past the young woman in favor of the room emitting a warm-glow light. the fire breathing within it called annalise, and she found herself dying to know what lied just ahead. "what's in there?!" she hissed in enthusiasm. she aimed to grab the girl's arm once more, this time in an attempt to drag her into what would turn out to be the common room.

her flitting gaze found the fireplace at once, but before she could cross the room to be near it, she was stopped by a small crowd of students -- some of whom were on the floor -- right by the door. "oh! hello!" she greeted, speaking to both everyone and no one at once. there were so many people! how fun!

    Primrose Avens~

Prim couldn't help but simply sit there, wide-eyed and seemingly terrified, as she watched the strange array of events unfold in just moments before her eyes. A stumble, a strange snowy owl, multiple students running in seeming either far too excited or simply frantic. The suddenness of all the chaos in the previously peaceful room was almost funny.

Prim let out a giggle and rushed to cover her mouth; She hadn't meant to let herself get involved in all of this, not even through something as small as a laugh.

Despite her blush Prim sat up in her seat and tried to seem confident. This was her goal this year, wasn't it? To let herself get involved with her classmates, not just watch from afar amid her own timidity. "Hello," she said back softly to the girls who had just entered. She stepped across the room to help the poor girl who had tripped up, offering a hand and a slight smile.

  • Bearegard strode up to the doors, gazing at the building with bored, half-lidded eyes. He drew the ragged shortcloak tighter. He didn't want to be here; it was his second year, his first yielding little progress in his studies or ability. Beau certainly didn't make much effort in correcting course, either - he often skipped opportunities for lessons, choosing to lay in his dorm instead. He certainly made himself out to be the ever-annoyed layabout skirting the line between attendance and expulsion.

Slinging his bag over his shoulder with a huff, he pushed through the gently creaking wood. The heavy click, click, click of his boots echoed through the nigh-silent corridor. Beauregard turned into the common room and abruptly skid to a halt, gazing at the group gathered, then down at the reading witch sitting directly in front of him. He almost seemed like he was about to move to help, before noticing just how many people gathered to assist Plum. Apparently not wanting to seem silly, he just stood a second longer, looking down to Ludo.

A short, "Why," rasps out from Beau's throat. He just steps over Ludo, possibly giving the book a light kick by mistake -- or 'mistake' -- and strode on into the common room.

  • Plum's face lit up as a beautiful, practically glowing stranger came to her aid – or maybe it just seemed that way after her experience with the imp on the floor. She quickly scooped the last of her scattered items off the ground and flashed a grateful smile to whom she assumed was one of her new classmates. "Gee, thanks a bunch! Oh, um! I'm really sorry about the mess, I –"

The young witch's flustered ramblings caught in her throat as a streak of white flashed across her vision. Her attention immediately turned to the circling entity, only able to fully take in what had flown past her once it had settled on its companion's arm. A dazzling white owl...in person! "Wow! No way!" Plum gasped, dropping her belongings once again as her hands moved to press on either side of her face. She skipped over the newly discarded items, appearing excitedly before the silver-haired girl and her owl in a matter of seconds with a beaming expression.

"Oh my gosh! Is it real? I mean, of course it's real, but it's just– I've never seen an owl so close up before, and it seems really well trained! Did you train it yourself? Oh, is it magic? Are you magic? Wait, duh, we're in a school for–" she paused in the middle of some erratic gesture, reading the atmosphere around her in that moment. Right, she was probably causing a scene again. "Ah, um...sorry!" Plum squeaked in apology, righting herself and taking a few respectable step back. She scratched the back of her head with a nervous giggle; if she wanted to make friends here, she'd probably have to try being somewhat less of a ditz. "I should probably introduce myself! My name's Plum. This'll be my first year here, so please forgive me if I take a little while to get used to things around here!"

Ludo sighed, propping his head with a hand. His perfect little reading nook had become so very noisy; it was nearly impossible to focus. "Don't sully my reputation to the newbie, Lovetta. Or could it be you want me to hide your tarot deck around the school like last year, hm?" he chided with a crooked smirk as he recalled the prank. Ah, good times. Seeing as the situation with Plum seemed to be resolving itself – or so he thought, until the scatterbrain dropped everything she'd just picked up – he made one final attempt at returning to the pages of his book. This was all well and good until good old Beau decided to make his presence known.

Ludo threw his head back with an exasperated sigh, glaring in the direction of the passerby. "Cheery as ever, 'Sunshine?'" he grumbled before finally snapping his book shut and shoving his belongings into a modest messenger bag. The pale haired boy hopped to his feet, quickly matching the stride of the classmate that disrupted his reading time. "So, did'ja burn down any buildings over the break? Ooh, maybe a whole forest?" Ludo pestered Beau, poking a finger at the other's cheek with no regard for any potential personal space. After getting bored of that intrusive action, he slung a thin arm around Beau's shoulder, eyes glinting with mischief from behind his rounded glasses. "Come on, fill me in! You wouldn't get into any trouble without your dearest pal Ludo, would you?" he sneered with a slight chuckle.

  • Beauregard continued to walk on as Ludo matched his pace. Clearly, Beau was trying to ignore Ludo, gaze fixed forward lazily. He then stopped abruptly, wobbling in the momentum of his stride as the boy poked at his cheek and threw an arm over his shoulder. Beau let out an exasperated groan. The tired classmate drew his fingers through his slicked-back hair, his head lolling to the right lazily to look at the other boy.

"Ask again, and I'll set your scarf on fire, Ludo. Again." The cloaked punk rasped back groggily. Despite the threat, he didn't sound all that malicious speaking to the other prankster. With the hand opposite his classmate, Beauregard moved to try and snatch Ludo's hat, fixing it onto his own head. Successful or not, he continued, "There a reason you're tailing me like a puppy, you little goblin?"

Sariel blinked for a moment, subtly flinching back as the girl appeared beside her. Her eyes immediately softening just a tad as she heard about it being her first time. She totally understood how it was with first years...she was similar in a way on her first year. She gently risked a glance at Vienna on her shoulder. "Her name is Vienna." The quiet voice murmured from the girl. Her silvery hair was over one shoulder while the snowy owl sat upon her uncovered shoulder. The owl gently running her beak through the silver strands she could reach. Vienna kinda took over a big sister role to Sariel when the girl was struggling back home.

The bruises on her arms throbbed as she remembered her home and a particularly sharp tug on a strand of hair brought the witch back. Vienna held a soft glare at the girl and then swiveled her head to glance to Plum. "Oh...My name's Sariel. Nice to meet you." the witch murmured, her unease growing as more voices appeared to come towards her ears. She wasn't used to attention but Plum brought out the big sister in her... and honestly she was pretty sure Vienna knew and was laughing at her. Sariel leaned against the wall, her eyes studying the others in the common room. Making sure she was by the stairs to be able to make a quick escape should she get overwhelmed too easily. She usually did ... depending on how many were in the dorm this year.

    [ m a l e | | t h i r t y - e i g h t | | e l e m e n t p r o f e s s o r ]

The Professor sat in his large office, if you could call it that. It was more like a den. With a fireplace of his own, a giant mahogany desk with beautiful, swirling designs hand-etched into it, and one of the walls being a full, ceiling-to-ceiling bookcase. He organized the texts and scrolls on his desk into piles. "Fire.. important one to sort out quickly, I would say. Although the young one from a few years ago nearly drowned the divination professor.." Mumbling to himself, the fair-toned, white-haired professor switched around a few books and stepped back to contemplate his work. "Well, if I don't consider the fire witch a priority this year, things could go badly..." Frowning without realizing, Wickstrom held a grumpy face as he tried to recall the applications of each witch - new and returning. Being solely the element professor had it's ups and downs. Being able to coach a student who is looking to master an element is great because it's nearly the only magick Dan can use perfectly. Being able to introduce a student to elemental magick who wants to try it is always a proud moment for the serious man. Though when a student needs help with charms, potions, animals, divination, or any other sort, the professor is merely a guide to the next. "I'll probably learn more from the other students than the elemental students will learn from me." He joked, with a small smile, one that nobody at the school ever gets to see. He likes to keep everything formal and serious, as he takes magick very seriously.

Located in the second tower - up an obscure stairwell that most people pass when going to the dorm rooms - Professor Wickstrom's "office" is the last office down a long, daunting hall. The other professors tell him that it suits him for having such a serious energy about him, but he just likes it because if his students come to practice the elements, less damage will be sustained by the other professors' rooms. Daniel has learned to take his students outside on most occasions, unless they are trusted upper-year students.

Knowing that many of the students should have arrived now, he held his mouth in a firm line as he considered going down to the main hall on the first floor to welcome stragglers or anyone with a question, or whether he should stay in his office and allow the students to get to know each other first. "I'm sure the returning witches will help the new ones. If they have any questions, someone can point them in the right direction - to me." He said, with a slight nod to himself in affirmation and decided to allow the day to unfold, helping the witch who requests his facilitation, and leaving alone the witches who feel too scared - or cocky - to ask for help.

    [ f e m a l e | | s e v e n t e e n | | c h a r m s a n d p o t i o n s s t u d e n t ]

Nikki blinked. What just happened? She thought to herself. One second she was celebrating her small win of making it up the staircase into the unknown without melting into the shadows, and next thing you know, the liveliest whirlwind of a girl showed up in all her excitement with introductions and... bubbly-ness. The dark-haired girl felt unbearably out of her element when Anna held her hand in a flurry of words. "N-Nikki.." She barely managed to mumble before Anna took hold of the unsuspecting witch and pulled her closer to the other students. As the fiery girl was distracted by the other people and the owl, Nikki was thankful that Anna wasn't shy and voiced her questions and opinions. I guess I'm not the only new one, she guessed, as Anna's lack of knowledge emerged as bright curiosity and eagerness to have her questions answered. Nikki's curiosity was showcased by her impeccable knack for hiding in the shadows and corners, absorbing all the information she could.

While most would say Nikki seems quiet and fairly uninterested, that couldn't be farther from the truth. The small-bodied girl was always fascinated by the dynamics and workings of the social connections between people. Simply unable to insert herself, the girl always longed to be open and confident around other people. Green-eyed Nikki would never be mistaken for snobbish as her small, cute appearance suggested a mild innocence and perhaps a little naivety - but that was if anyone noticed her to begin with. Standing just outside the doorway to the common room, feeling exposed as the firelight shone orange on her black dress and made her fair-coloured skin appear to have a healthier, tanner tone. She habitually pulled down her short dress to reduce the amount of bare leg showing between the bottom hem and the top of her thigh-high boots.

Pushing her little glasses up the bridge of her button nose with one hand, and with the other she pulled her midnight hair over one shoulder subconsciously as she glanced over at Sariel. Checking out the silver-haired girl's beautiful owl, Nikki suddenly feared that the owl might take flight and land on her head or something ridiculous. Not that she was afraid of animals, but she never really spent time around pet birds, and was certainly not expecting any to be here at the Academy. Taking a tentative step sideways so she had to lean a little to the right to peer past the doorway, Nikki for a minute looked like a child peeking around the corner after sneaking downstairs to steal a glance at the presents under the tree on Christmas Eve. Not knowing how to avoid the situation, or insert herself in it, she was stuck in limbo, soaking in all of the events taking place between the young witches in the room.

his room now set up, kal turned his attention to the distant sound of voices that he could hear wafting through the cracked dormitory door. picking his coat up off of his bed, kal swung it over his shoulders as he left the room, following the sound of voices into the brightly-lit common room. coming face-to-face with more students than he was expecting, kal recognized several familiar faces: ludo, lovetta, beau, prim, and sariel. he also found himself looking into three new faces, all of them appearing to be some charismatic girls.

flashing a smile at the newcomers, kal tugs his dark coat closer to his body, briefly debating scooting closer to the fire. "i didn't realize so many of you were already here. it's good to see you again, lovetta. not so much you, ludo, or you, beau." a teasing glint entered kal's eyes as he greeted familiar friends, sending a nod to prim and sariel, the two more introverted witches.

glancing at the new girls, kal can clearly tell that one of the three is extroverted, her aura dancing around her like a bonfire's licking flames. "now you three, i don't believe we've met. i'm kalervo kallio; everyone calls me kal around here." offering a hand for each of the girls to shake, kal bounces around to each of them before finding himself standing beside lovetta. "what have i been missing?"

    Primrose Avens~

In a swift movement, Prim tucked her book under her arm and leapt to grab Plum's things as she threw them to the ground, already spreading her trail of chaos to somewhere else in the common room. She looked far less composed than usual as she stumbled backward with the stack of books and belongings in her hands, searching for balance with herself and the unexpected weight. But despite her foolishness, nearly all the belongings were intact in her arms.

Prim giggled softly as she regained her composure and straightened her back. She set the stack carefully on the ground, keeping it upright despite its precariousness. She brushed the strands of hair that had loosened themselves back behind her ears and clasped her hands together loosely in front of her. With a deep breath, she let the small panic amidst the chaos that had grown in her chest fade away.

The girl spun on her feet to face the new girls, offering them a smile. "I'm Primrose--err, you can call me Prim."

  • Plum’s smile beamed as Sariel introduced herself and Vienna. It was pretty clear that she was a quiet type, but the fact that she was able to look past Plum’s own eccentricity and introduce herself meant the world to her. “Yeah! I really hope we can become friends!” she chimed. Her gaze turned to Vienna for a moment, before realizing she still had a small packet containing a biscuit from the train station. She fished it out of her pocket and offered it to the owl’s beak, giggling again. “All three of us!”

It took a few moments for the witch to remember the scene she’d left behind her. As soon as she did, however, she bit her lip and spun around, expecting to see yet another mess caused by her clumsiness. Yet to her surprise, all of her belongings were being carefully stacked by another witch that seemed to carry the grace of a proper angel. Admittedly, Plum found herself staring slack-jawed for a heartbeat, taken aback by this stranger’s...well, utter beauty. The gears slowly churned back to life in her head, and she realized Prim had introduced herself.

“Uh— Yes! I mean, thank you! For that! Ahaha!”Plum stuttered, her eyes darting to every corner of the room. It wasn’t really like her to get choked up in front of others; maybe the heat from the fireplace was just muddling her thoughts? Pushing her awkward outburst aside, she shuffled to retrieve her items, picking them up with a soft grunt.“So, um...how do I know which room is mine?”

Ludo snickered at Beau’s sharp response, recalling the fiery incident with clarity. Yeah, the faculty weren’t too jazzed about that one. By reflex, he retracted his arm and ducked his head away at the sight of a hand darting towards him — however, once he realized the action was harmless, he sighed with a chuckle and allowed Beauregard to steal his hat away.

“Oh, please,” he replied simply, fixing his glasses from the previous evasion attempt, “If you didn’t want me messing with you, then you wouldn’t have so kindly love-tapped my book back there.”

The fluffy-haired boy tapped his chin thoughtfully for a moment, reflecting on the other’s word choice. His eyes narrowed — a telltale sign that he already had some ludicrous scheme planned out — and he turned back to Beau with a sly grin.“Ooh, I bet you’d actually like me if I were a puppy, eh Beau?” he taunted whilst withdrawing a slim wand from his bag. The hand which held it moved in a precise and intricate motion, starkly contrasted his usual, unkempt demeanor. The tip glowed in response, and within that moment appeared a faint glow, a puff of smoke, and...a small Pomeranian, whose fur matched Ludo’s shaggy, pale hair. Well, that and a now much-too-large scarf bunched around its neck.

It was a decently complex spell — and one he was sure he’d get in trouble for if caught by the staff — but he’d managed to coax the more experienced witches back at his home to teach it to him over the break. While it was certainly a step up from his trademarked illusory tricks, he was sure his family had hoped Ludo would actually use the skill for something productive instead of cheap parlor tricks.

“How’s that?” Ludo’s voice came from the seemingly smug animal, which may or may not have been somewhat disturbing, “Think you can bare to be in the same room as me now?”

    IC:

Sariel couldn't help the flinch as the hand came towards her shoulder with the food and she gave a subtle nod to Vienna, who then gladly decided to help herself to the little tidbit of a treat. The silver haired girl watched with dancing eyes as s Plum turned and stared at one of their classmates before she turned and slipped back upstairs. There was getting to be too many people around her and she could feel the edges of her anxiety come forth so then seemed like a perfect time to slip away. Plus she could work on her potions and actually talk to Vienna a bit. The silver haired girl usually didn't outright decide to use her magic to talk to animals in front of others. She kinda kept that to herself these days.

"Vienna? What do you think?" Sariel asked softly, her eyes glowing with a slightly silver outline as she tapped into her magic a bit. Her unease showing as she flopped onto her bed, while Vienna delicately took off and landed on her headboard. "Riel, you know you need friends ..." Vienna scolded softly, her voice sounding... well soft and crystalline if you could imagine as such an owl would sound like. Sariel groaned softly as she gave a soft glare to the owl and huffed, but smiled grimly "You know why I don't allow anyone close. It's too dangerous for them." The witch murmured, turning over to fish out her potions textbook. It was an old book, cover a leather that was now a dull blue when it used to be cerulean blue, pages were old but neatly kept. Something her mother left for her long ago before she passed on. Opening the cover with the care one would handle glass, her delicate fingers ran over the message staring at her from the page.

    To my darling Riel,

This was my very first book

And I know you will treasure it

and add to it as you grow

You will always have me in your heart

    I love you my angel

    You are my life

    Love you Riel,

    Love, Mom

Gentle tears glittered as they fell and touched the page before the silver haired witch took a breath and wiped her eyes, running her fingers down the page and then switching to stroke her owl's feathers gently. She sighed before giving a weak smile to her companion and then went to studying. Her eyes tracing the words of certain plants and recipes her mother had written.

  • Beau pulled at the hat, canting it backwards and slightly crooked on his head. He narrowed his eyes at Ludo, letting out a 'pff' as the other boy spoke. "It isn't my fault you double as a doorstop, and you could've just kept reading. It isn't my fault you can't keep away from me, shrimp." He muttered dismissively, adding, "Books are boring, anyway." He muttered dismissively, before his eyes widened just a bit at the sly smile on Ludo's face.
"No. No, I'm leaving, you're -- " And, with only a single step away, he flinched and froze as the glow and smoke danced out. He looked left, and looked right, furrowing his brow. Where had he gone?

Beauregard looked down at the little dog - and his eyes widened to a pair of gleaming, ember-like saucers. He'd probably rarely seen something like this, his 'expertise' being nothing more than simple fire magicks not useful for more than lighting cigarettes and causing trouble. A slight, crooked smile cracks his face, creasing his tired eyes slightly. "Oh. My god." He rasps out in a quiet murmur, mostly to himself. To Ludo, he rasps, "I suppose that'll do. Can you stop talking, though? You're ruining the illusion of you being tolerable. Come along." The elemental witch stoops down to try to scoop up the small, scarf-clad animal, holding it like a kid holds a teddybear. So punk.
