The soft, whispery wails of the night breeze rustled the leaves high in the trees as well as the decaying underbrush along the forest floor, the large moon casting a faint, ominous glow along the small clearing the wildcat found themselves in. Darkweb had no idea where they were, nor did they know what territory they were in, what they were most concerned about was finding a place to rest. Their muscles burned for relief, exhaustion hung heavy along chiseled features as Dark caught sight of an old pine tree that withered and fallen a long, long time ago. It reminded them faintly of thunderclan, not so much the tree but the surrounding area, the forest reminding them of a clan that was no longer here, a clan that was, in hindsight, forgotten and abandoned in the trial of time.
Unsheathed claws gently drew over the weathered surface, catching loose bark and debris as they made a hasty attempt to scale the fallen ancient. For any other creature, it was an easy climb, a hop skip and a jump away from a nice spot along the crooked trunk. But for a cat who had been drained physically and mentally from a journey such as theirs, it was quite a challenge. A wince managed to slip past clenched teeth as the larger panther hauled themselves upward, their muscles ached with pain until they eventually gave, Darkweb could feel themselves slip before their body hit the hard ground with a soft thud. They didn't have the energy to get up, and so Darkweb lied there, unmoving beside the soft rise and fall of their chest, staring up at the darkened sky that sparkled to life with thousands and thousands of stars. It was so beautiful tonight. Tears threatened the wildcats dark oculars, a soft sniffle breaking the silence in their throat before the night air was filled with soft, mournful sobs.
Darkweb as a fool to think everything was still normal, a blubbering fool to think nothing had changed with their absence back into the obscure abyss, they were a fool to still think the people they loved would actually wait for them. Dark had come back too late, and now everything they had was gone; their home was gone, their friends were gone, their family was gone. All because Dark thought their was something awaiting for them in the abyss, oh what a foolish, foolish creature they were. The sobs were becoming more apparent, overpowering the whispery breeze that casted through the large pine trees that populated the area.
What a fool they were
To think they could live a normal life
