  • It's chilly. The wind whips by, rustling your clothes and freezing you to the bone. You're alone, walking down a dark road lit only by the occasional street lamp. You don't know how you got here, or what your purpose is. You keep walking. A shiver runs down your spine, and goosebumps raise on your skin. You feel like somethings watching you. You start to walk faster, the wind biting into your flesh. It's only when you start to run that you realize you're barefoot, the gravel from the road stabbing your feet with every step. You begin to slow, breathing heavily. You stop, panting, resting your hands on your knees. It's at this point that fear has started to creep through you, and you look wildly around at your surroundings.

You are about to start walking again when you hear a gentle jingling noise. A figure is approaching from the darkness, low to the ground. You begin to move back, but stop when the figure steps into the light. It's a dog. A fairly large thing, fluffy, black, brown and white. It sits under the street lamp. You walk closer, cautiously reaching a hand out. Its tail wags, and it stands, turning around. It begins to walk, looking back to see that you are following it. You are. You follow the dog for a long ways, cursing the pain in your feet, and the cold. The dog barks, startling you out of your thoughts. You stand in front of a large house, cozy looking, with a large garden.

    You follow the dog inside.

  • BEEZ

It was chilly, as it always was on the empty road that led to the Gregory Linwell House. Beez padded quickly along the street, his collar jingling as he went. He sniffed the air, searching for the newest arrivals that Mx. Lenore had sent him to fetch. The familiar stepped into the pavement illuminated by one of the few street lamps, sitting down and wagging his tail. Beez looked at the figure(s) approaching, and waited for them to get closer.

    BEAU

There were books strewn all around the warlock, about various subjects, none of which were of importance. Beau was lost in thought, creating small images of animals dancing over his desk. Mx. Lenore had just sent Beez out, which meant there would be new arrivals soon. He sighed, vanishing the imagined animals and standing, pacing over to the large window in his office. Another long night, most likely, of explaining to scared children as to why they had been swept away from their families and brought to a house in the middle of nowhere.

  • Mercy had just come back from her office, and was flopped (fully dressed) on her bed. She was well aware Beez had just left to retrieve new arrivals. If there weren't many, she may be lazy and leave it to Beau to explain why they were here. She'd done it for the last lot, hadn't she? Mercy couldn't remember. Sighing, she decided to sit up, looking around. Her room was simplistic, and it hadn't changed much since she'd been given it when she was a scared child swept away from her family. Not that she minded not being with them anymore - as far as she could remember, they didn't want her anyway. Mercy stood up, pushing her arms above her head in a stretch until she heard a satisfying click from her fingers, then let them swing down by her side as she left the room. Down a hallway and to the left, it wasn't long before she stood outside Beau's office/classroom/wherever he was. Knocking on the door, the woman didn't wait for a reply before she pushed the door open, face radiant with a bright smile. "Hey, Beau. What are you brooding for?" was the first thing she said when she saw the older man stood by the window. // rudyard

Callum was stood, leaning against the entrance doorway outside. He had on a white T-shirt with a grey hoodie, just to keep himself warm in case the night got a bit nippy. He'd been stood here since before Beez left to get the new arrivals, and made a mental note to retreat back indoors to wherever when they arrived. Maybe he'd watch from the shadows as the kids were introduced to life here. The guy had been here for three years already - wasn't as long as some other people, but it was still a pretty long time. When he was 21, maybe he'd go out into the world again. His resources would be unlimited to finding Luke out there, though they were limited in the Linwell house. Sighing, Callum reached a finger under his glasses to rub at his right eye. He really should stop thinking so much about his brother - that wasn't going to help him find him any faster. Technically, Callum figured he should be heading to bed within the hour or so. But what troubled young adult got a full eight hours of sleep? Or was it twelve? Callum didn't care at this point - his hazel eyes just kept staring straight ahead, out at the darkness in front of him.

Beau was startled from his thoughts be the door to his office opening loudly, knocking into a pile of books as it did so. He winced, but looked up at Mercy, who had just entered the room, nonetheless. It was probably his fault anyway, he really should clean up those books... "Oh, hello, Mercy." He waved a hand out the window, at the ever growing darkness, "You know.. the usual." Beau rubbed his eyes, turning around to fully face the other teacher. "What brings you to my office so late?" He offered her a small smile, and stepped away from the window.

//I realized I never really said how the house was set up, so I'm making some changes to the original post to tell about that.

  • Agnimitra was walking along the cold street. Her best friend was right next her and both were shivering from the cold. Agni looked around quickly and found a dog sitting by the side of the street. She tugged on her friend's arm to get her attention and then walked over to the dog, kneeling down to let it sniff her hand. "Hello there."

The night air nestled a chill beneath Lucie's skin that she couldn't seem to shake as she slipped around the house, treading quietly from the backyard to the front gardens. There'd been whispers of Beez heading out once more, which mostly meant new arrivals, and her curiosity was piqued. The outside world was its own oddity to Lucie, who had spent more of her life within the safe confines of Linwood than not, and she always found herself watching for new arrivals, wondering about why it was they found themselves walking hesitantly along behind Beez in the darkness. She would have liked to think that she only just remembered her own arrival but that day was a frequent star in her nightmares, not specific moments but the feelings of confusion, grief, and desperation. Lucie pulled her knit cardigan ever closer around her body, the sleeves stretched over her hands out of the habit of covering them, refusing to let her mind drift too far toward the circumstances which had brought her here in the first place. Though she stood in the shadows, the dim light coming from inside the house caught in the strands of her pale gold hair. She noticed suddenly that there was another person standing outside, the tall figure outlined in the warm light of the house as he stood in the doorway. While she didn't have any natural aptitude for stealth, the ability to walk around airily, silently (mostly without making the floorboards of the house creak) was one she had honed. "Are you spying for the arrivals, Callum?" Lucie asked lightly, her expression more amused and inquisitive than judgmental.

ooc: like i said in her history, lucie has been at the house something like 9 years, so she's definitely not just arriving. interacting with tubig .

  • Mercy smiled slightly as Beau stepped away from the window. Slowly, she entered the room, quietly closing the door behind her. In reality, there were not many people at the house Mercy’s age. There were a few in their early 20s, but Mercy still viewed them as kids if they weren’t a teacher. Whenever she didn’t want to be a teacher, she’d talk to Beau. The guy was a good friend, and she’d rather him than Mx. Lenore - who was nice, but the fact they were a principal of sorts was a little daunting to Mercy. ”I’m not tired, and it’s not like I can go to one of the kids for a late night chat. Though if you were about to head to bed, I can leave,” she offered hastily. Mercy looked up to Beau, in a way. She presumed he’d been doing this longer than her, and tended to try and keep out of his way while also trying to befriend him. It was a bit difficult for someone as friendly as Mercy. // rudyard

Callum was absently staring off into the darkness still when a light voice jolted him. He visibly flinched, though he didn’t jump massively. He turned his head down to see Lucie. Callum wasn’t exactly a ‘people person’, but he knew everyone’s faces and names. Unfortunately for him, that gave some people the impression they were friends. He hoped that wasn’t the case with Lucie, as nice as the girl seemed. ”More like getting some me-time before they arrive. Wouldn’t surprise me if they’re all below fifteen,” he responded. Callum kept his tone neutral and turned his hazel eyes back on to the nothingness he’d been staring at before. He’d indulge in conversation, only because Lucie wasn’t annoying like most of the others. // maddi

  • Lorelei was right about to warn Agni that it was a bad idea before her friend walked up and talked to the dog. She sighed and followed her hesitantly, then standing close beside her. She muttered to her, “I was gonna ask if I could turn it into stone.”

  • Agnimitra looked to Lorelei with a shocked expression. She put her hands around the dog's neck and used her body as a sheild. "No! He's just a lost little puppy." She says, almost like a child. The girl looks to the dog and smiles. "Don't worry, I won't let her turn you to a statue."

Beez knew the drill. He had been doing this since he had arrived at the Linwell house, he knew the routine better than anyone. Beez wagged his tail, doing the expected and sniffling the girl's hand. His ears pinned back and he whined when the other girl mentioned turning him to stone, that... did not sound pleasant. Shaking it off, he gave a low 'woof' and tried to stand, but the first girl had thrown her arms around his neck. He was not a puppy thank you very much.He wriggled out of her hold and took a few steps back in the direction of the Linwell house. He turned, giving another soft bark, then took another couple steps. C'mon...Just follow...Beez thought, mentally urging the two girls to follow him.

    BEAU // tubig .

Beau listened intently at Mercy spoke, nodding along. "Oh, no, not at all." He laughed, rubbing his eyes again. "I've got to stay up at talk to the new arrivals, you know how it goes." He gave a tired smile, crossing to his desk and pulling out the chair, "Please, sit," he hesitated for a moment, then made some room on the desk itself, clearing off his partially graded papers. "Sorry about the mess..." Beau looked sheepish, rubbing the back of his neck with a hand. He always tried to make a welcoming environment for people, and he liked Mercy, He had been teaching here since she was a student, and he had been happy that she had stayed.

  • IC; Unlike many of her classmates, Elenora loves new people day. Adding new people to her strange family is one of the few things that actually makes her excited. A quick adjustment of her rugged leather jacket, which seems to be the opposite of her current mood seems to be enough to satisfy her. She quickly steps out of her drawing-covered room, with fake brick walls and paint splatters covering one of her walls. Taking a quick peek outside, she quickly realizes that one of the younger students is missing, Lou.

Elenora speed walks to the younger witch's bedroom while plastering a sweet, yet false smile across her lips. She knocks on the door, making a small beat with her knuckles. "Lou sweetheart, it's time to wake up" She calls out while leaning against the door frame.

  • Lorelei growled as the dog tried to lead them towards the strange house. She grabbed Agni’s arm and took a step back towards the way they came. She says, “Let’s go, Agni.” Her tone has the urgency like she has just walked into a haunted house and realized that the doors had locked behind her. She then looked toward the dog again, her unnerving green gaze locking with his.

She suddenly had a strong desire to turn him to stone and watch as his face became distorted in horror. She didn’t like how Agni had immediately ran to it, and how she had taken the dog’s side even after Lorelei had warned her.

Beez whined, looking away from the girl's intense stare. He woofed, walking in a quick circle around the two, then stepping back towards the house. He whined again. C'mon.... please... Beez thought, his tail still wagging back and forth. He paced a little bit, moving to the house, then back to the girls, his "dog tags"-they held his information like a normal tag, but were in the fashion of military tags- jingling as he went. Beez looked to Agni, the one who seemed to be the friendlier one of the two and whined. Please...

    LOU // ~Lynn~

Lou was having a pleasant dream, she was walking through a meadow, being followed by all sorts of creatures. They were chattering in their various languages, and Lou was leading the little band to the dark woods that lay only a couple yards away. It was just as she stepped into the forest that she heard someone calling to her, the noise echoing around, bouncing through the trees. Lou woke, blinking the sleep out of her eyes and standing up. She smiled, sliding out of bed and walking to the door, "Mornin' El, I'll be out in a mo'." She said, offering the other witch a smile before closing the door and getting dressed. It only took a minute, and she opened the door and walked out into the hallway to stand by Elenora. "New people day, right?" She asked, looking up at the other girl.

  • Agnimitra yanked away from Lorelei. "He wants us to follow him. Please, Lorelei?" She whines in a similar fashion to Beez. Her eyes have a pleading gaze that she casts to Lorelei and then back to Beez. While looking at Beez, she smiles and giggles. "I think he can help us...look, he has tags." She points out.

    // rudyard   Dianemu

  • Lorelei growls and says, “Fine. But only because your going. Don’t count on me to stay.” She brushes a strand of her hair out of her face and settles her gaze on the dog again. She was usually nicer to others, especially animals. But just the fact that it happened to be there when they appeared in the middle of the cold was definitely suspicious.

Lucie blinked, a little bit in surprise, at his neutral tone as he spoke. She wasn't sure what she expected, but in the monotony of their days, she supposed that she'd come to believe most people viewed the arrival of new students as a flash of excitement. She couldn't particularly consider herself the world's friendliest person, she was probably a bit too quiet to earn that accolade. Despite that, she had to admit that the wizard standing beside her had her beat. Lucie and he had lived in the same house for—oh what was it, three years?—and even still she couldn't particularly call him anything more than an acquaintance. He knew her name, she knew his, and they lived with the acknowledgement that they inhabited the same space. His distance made her wonder if he was a lonely sort or just melancholy by disposition, but she felt awkward bringing that up. "The children remind me terrifyingly of the passage of time, the fact that I am no longer as small as them. I can't fathom what it must be like for the familiars." She leaned her back against the side of the house and turned her face out as she spoke, looking into the garden instead of at Callum's face. "Though I imagine that's not particularly what you meant." Lucie's entire body was rather still, like she was imagining that she could simply become a fixture of the house or she was trying not to scare off a startled animal. Honestly, the second one might have held more truth, as she considered the fact that even now, this might be the longest conversation she'd had with Callum. "I hope I didn't interrupt your 'me time' too much. If it's alright with you, I'm just waiting it out until I feel tired and maybe see their faces, and it's warmer near the house. I can keep quiet, though."

Beez yipped , his tail wagging faster. He walked up to the house, glancing back at the girls, then nudging open the gate with his nose. He barked, loudly this time, so as to alert everyone that he had returned. Beez trotted into the garden, walking in a circle and sitting down to wait for one of the teachers to come out. He didn't have to wait for very long, Mx. Lenore striding out of the house purposefully, giving a brief hello to the students on the porch before moving to stand by Beez. "Hello, I see Beez here found you." They chuckled, giving bees a pet on the head. "You're not the first to get lost on the road, it tends to swallow up all the land marks." They smiled, their calming aura hopefully easing the nerves of the new arrivals.
