"Will you help me stay here, by your side."

This is not what she had in mind when she finally found the one she would be with forever. It started as any normal day, the mermaid had left her peacful home under the waves to once more to watch the humans who would come and vist the beach. Sometimes they had families they would bring with them. It never failed to make the lonely madien smile when the childern would going running to their parents claiming to have seen a mermaid. The people she loved to see the most, were the couples. They stood close together with such love in their eyes. The mermaid wondered if she would ever beable to have that kind of love. The madien of the sea let a sigh leaning on her hands as she watched the beach. She hoped her love would come to her soon.

Then, she appeared, like a gift from the gods. She was beautiful, the way sun made her skin glow was mesmerizing. Her hair moved like e gentle waves. She couldn't see much more of her features, but she didn't need to she already knew this human was the one who held her heart. After her senses came to she realized her soul, was a human. She couldn't accept this, it couldn't be true. The mermaid dove down below the surface denying her forever, wasn't all that long.

  • Thanks! Also so my character should have just broken up with a previous partner and now be wondering the beach at night a bit sad right?

  • A sniffle sounded from the female as she walked silently along the beach. The sun was lowering slowly in the sky bit by bit. Her long black hair hanging straight and past her hips today her outfit nothing special. Noemi was usually in some kind of strange outfit or cosplay idea but today she just wore a baggy t-shirt and some black sweats. Her feet kicking up the sand as she walked along the beach in a sad bitter anger. Once she was far away from anyone who still was upon the beach she picked up a small flat stone. With a sharp flick of her wrist she sent the rock skipping across the lazy lapping water of the ocean. A small tear trailing down her face as she finally flopped down into the sand. Though a splashing sound had her look up momentarily only to see a ripple in the water. She shook her head thinking it had just been a fish.

This day was not her day first her car had broken down. Then once she called her partner of six years to help they had arrived only to help for about ten minutes. Though during that ten minutes the only help she had gotten was the help of realizing her partner was an asshole. It was like all that time together had been nothing they hadn’t even had the decency to break up gently. Noemi had been dumped by three simple words we are done. That’s all her partner had said before calling a tow truck for Noemi then leaving and not alone mind you but with someone Noemi had thought was a friend.

  • Cordelia

    Female • Mermaid • Tail

Cordelia had been avoiding the beach, the surface, the sun, basically anything that would remind her of the one her soul chose to be with. She couldn't accept this, she was human. Humans were mere moments in time compared to the immortal life of a mermaid. Her heart hurt, constricting in her chest the further she forced herself to travel from that beach. 'How could fate do this?' She asked herself within her mind each day she was away from the one who already held her heart in her hands. It would have been fine, welcomed, if Cordelia's soulmate was not a human.

She tried to ignore the way her heart hurt the greater the distance became. She tried to ignore the way her energy was beginning to slowly leave her the more she stayed away from her human. Her tail, which was once a beautiful gold and blue, was now dull, lifeless even scales missing in places. Cordelia didn't have any mirriors down here in the ocean, but she could feel the way her skin got closer to her bones day by day. 'I'm dying.' It was a thought that came to her randomly one day when she was simply floating there watching the fish swin by. This wasn't what brought the mermaid back to the human, no it was the pain in her heart. The pain she felt from being away from her so long. She knew deep down she would have to face this if not for herself, for the one who destiny had deemed worthy to be loved by a maiden of the sea.

Admittedly getting back to her human was much, much harder than it was leaving. She knew the reason behind this, she was weak. Her tail now looked like something out of a horror movie with the missing scales and almost translucent fins. She had heard about this in the tales her family used to tell. If a mermaid was separated from their soulmate for too long they would become very sick, and would eventually die. Cordelia was stupid enough to think it wouldn't take affect becuase her soulmate was a human. Oh how she was wrong. The pain she felt was nearly unbearable at this point, she hoped at least reaching the beach would help relieve some of her pain. With great effort the mermaid hauled herself up onto the beach, the sand felt coarse against her skin, but it was a welcomed feeling rather than drifting endlessly in the ocean. "I made it." She spoke to herself in a soft manner, she was amazed she was able to do it. She softly grunted as she rolled onto her back to look up at the night sky. If she had died at least it would be peaceful.

  • I’ll be getting a reply up shortly. Ugh my muse has been so dead lately. I’m trying to do some more small groups to see if it helps my muse.
