— fernpaw was set for a life of comfort and leisure he moment she was born. a new kitten, bright-eyed and curious, found herself in the arms of a couple that had just adopted her. and for the first few months of her life, things were easy. comfortable. breakfast and dinner came at the same time of day. she could wander around the garden and slip under the fence around the yard at any time, to explore the small piece of land beyond it because to her it was the whole world. she spent all of those days looking around, drinking in the sights and smells of the outside world. and it never seemed dangerous, because there was always that sense of security she felt near her home.
she couldn’t have predicted what would uproot her from that simplistically sweet life.

— her fur is a rich sable color with dark brown tints that blend across her pelt. the tawny colored fur deepens to a dark walnut brown at her paws and face, as well as her tail. the coat itself is short, and has a fine, silky texture. while she isn’t particularly picky about the state of her fur, she takes good care of it and cleans up frequently. her eyes are a pale translucent yellow color, perhaps her most unnerving feature, which often cast a hard glare at others. her body is toned, with compact muscles that show easily underneath her short fur. however, her adolescent and growing body is still built awkwardly, with paws just a bit big.

— the first thing another will notice about fernpaw is that she is in short, kind of an asshole. her brisk and curt mannerisms are cold and cut off, driving away the possibility of any amicable interaction. she is withdrawn, finding it much easier to shrink in on herself than to reach out to others. while this has caused her to feel quite lonesome, it is all she’s ever been and she sees no way around it. her defense mechanism is to lock up tight like a safe. these restraints on her social interaction do not affect her mind’s ability, however. fernpaw is very pattern-oriented, picking apart the little details of things most others wouldn’t give a second thought. she finds herself often analyzing and analyzing and wow- seriously overanalyzing everything. it gets to the point where she often second-guesses many of her own actions.
some of her key strengths, however, are her honesty and objectivity. her creativity and open-mindedness aren’t the tools of some quest for any ideology or emotional validation. she believes very strongly in sticking with the truth, even if it isn’t always pretty. she doesn’t go around intentionally hurting feelings, but she does believe that honesty is truly the best policy. no use in bluffing or making things up for show.
