ooc; my orientation was three days long & it took a few hours to register for my classes so it was a hassle lmao anyway, i liked your idea of luca having a crush on gavin cause oof yes?? spice it up idk how harlem would react to it, maybe gavin tells him & he’s just like “okay cool?” and maybe that’s not the reaction gavin was looking for? and he could get upset thinking that harlem didn’t care for gavin in a way?

gold, diamonds, pearls & expressive silks. these were things that harlem’s wife understood, if she didn’t have the best of anything she would definitely throw some kind of fit. this marriage; and the word marriage is used very loosely in this situation, was used in order to gain political power. it was designed to combine two kingdoms into one, having harlem ruling over both in his iron like fist. florence’s kingdom was on the brick of carnage, her father had been over thrown & her oldest brother was a sick twisted man that couldn’t rule a kingdom properly. harlem was forced to go into war with his future wife’s brother, his brother in law; florence’s demanded her brothers head on a pike. the battle was harsh and the battle was long, many of his people were slaughtered and many of his knights in order to take control of soston. four years of a bloody war had finally been won, giving his wife what she truly desired; her brothers head on a spike. oddly enough, the skull of her dead brother sat within their bed chamber, covered in dried flowers & the crown that he wore almost constantly. seeing the skull made harlem cringe, but he didn’t dare to question florence as to why she wanted to keep it. throughout those four years of war, having her within his kingdom walls had begun to cause him to want to rip out his own teeth. the two had been married prior to the war & he hadn’t known anything about her so throughout those four years he managed to sculpt a very clear picture has to who she truly was & not that fake, sweet little girl that came riding in a beautiful white carriage up to his kingdoms front gates. explosive anger, greedy and abusive towards servants and maidens, harlem was completely astounding at her behavior and whenever he confronted her about it it always ends up in a huge fight. over the years he’s learned when to say anything and when not to, but certain things he never tolerates; her disrespect towards other people, especially when their status come to play.

either way, harlem was married off towards the horrid wrench. consuming her kingdom and blending it within his own, ruling over one of the largest kingdoms on this side of the sea. harlem consumed a mass amount of power and authority throughout the lands, a power that florence wanted to taste. being a power hungry wrench wasn’t a good light, she’s painted a beautiful picture of herself throughout the years as ruling as queen; trying to win over the people to love her.. even though most of his subjects didn’t. they simply played her as a fool, making her think that they truly loved her.. they simply feared her for the monster she was. while harlem has learned to live with florence, he’s never managed to love her. the children they created were never made out of love, harlem’s first born son was born simply because he needed and heir & his next three were accidents. if he were to be honest with himself, in the beginning he didn’t love his kids. the fact they were half florence made him crawl within his own skin, he felt that if he couldn’t love the woman that bore the said children how could he love them? but, at time went on harlem was able to see their true beauty & began to love them like no one else. harlem does everything for his kids, there wouldn’t be anything he wouldn’t do for them. his four children managed to cause his heart to soften, they’re the true reason why he understands the meaning of love. while the love for his children was a new found sense, harlem desperately wished to have the love from another person. that sappy, romantic, soul mate kind of feelings. he’s spent over 4 decades with a woman who shares none of the same values, ambitions or goals. 4 decades with a woman who didn’t love him or even like him, a woman that would lay in bed with knights or a handful of lords; a way to make harlem look like a incompetent man & husband. there had to be someone better for him.. right?

i’m well aware about waters point, but that’s in the past. we’ve all made mistakes and i don’t doubt your abilities. he said with a slight nod, ivory hues locked on gavin. whatever it was, harlem felt the need to stick up for him in the face of his hound like lords; once they found a persons weakness or flaw, they won’t stop picking at it until their victim starts pouring blood. he’s seen it serval times over the years, his throne room marble flooring being stained that beautiful crimson. while it was a trait that he couldn’t entirely hate, it could easily become a hazardous issue if he didn’t put a cap on it soon. you’re a fine knight and i’m more then certain you can keep your eyes on me he said with a soft grin, a playful wink daring to flash upon his face. it was true, gavin was an excellent knight and harlem felt as though he was in good hands

harlem couldn’t contain his soft laughter when he heard gavin’s comment, while it seemed inappropriate to laugh he couldn’t help it. ill definitely keep that in mind, a very tempting offer sir gavin. he said with a cheeky grin, porcelain canines peaked through the smile. but, in the corner of his eye, he could feel florence’s disgust. somehow it seemed to radiate from her skin and infect the room with a thick, tar like substance. a mental shudder ran down the king’s spine, not wanting to look at his gem covered wife ”that’s not funny harlem, threating the lives of our nobles is in poor taste she said, her arms crossed in her lap. grunting quietly he looked over at florence with dead, shark eyes if you’re just gonna sit here and constantly nag, leave. if not, sit there and be quite please. harlem said bluntly, turning his attention back towards gavin. he didn’t pay mind of florence’s obvious annoyance, her pale face turning into a slightly beaten tomato as she casted an ugly eye towards the knight before shifting in her seat, standing up and making her way out of the room. when she left it felt like a boulder had been lifted from his shoulders, a relaxed sigh expelled from his lungs as the doors shut behind her dark green silken gown. as you can already tell, my wife’s a handful. he said quietly, shaking his head. the reality of it was, if gavin was to watch over harlem as though he was some useless child he would have to watch the destruction that was his wife since you’re having to watch my every move like a child, you will have endure the queen. he muttered distasteful, shifting once again within his throne before standing back upon his feet let me know if she ever gives you a hard time, won’t you? he asked kindly, looking over at gavin with sickly sweet smile on his face

anyway, i figured i would show you around walls of the kingdom. i’m not entirely sure you’ve seen much of it, correct? or am i wrong? he asked gavin as he took a few steps down from the throne, standing next to the knight. the atmosphere was calm and dare one say sweet, an interaction that would make many royals tilt their head. harlem lived in a world where if you weren’t of noble blood, you were looked down upon. treated as if you were literal horse shit, to not be given any kind of interaction unless it was an order, harlem was deemed the odd ball out.
