Luigi and Sonic were walking, trying to find Mario
“Mario...! This isn’t funny bro, where are you?!” Luigi called

Sonic looked around with flicks of his ears, sighing softly.
"C'mon, Mario...!"

Luigi sighed “I don’t get it... where could he have gone..?

"We've searched everything, ain't we?"

“Yeah, and no sign... not even a-“ Luigi stopped
Ahead of them was a tree that had a branch sticking out. Hanging on that branch was Mario’s burned hat

"H-Hey? Ain't that...?"

“Mario’s Hat...?” Luigi went up to the tree, jumping up and grabbing the hat from the branch

"The hell...?"

Mario’s spirit appeared behind them, watching them sadly

"M-Mario..." Sonic's ears flattened. "The hell happened..."

Eggman happened the spirit murmured from behind them
“Huh?” Luigi turned around to see him

Sonic turned, ears flicking.
"Is that...?"

“Mario?” Luigi asked
The spirit nodded his head

"It was Eggman, huh...?"

He nodded then pointed to his chest, where the hole from where he got impaled could still be seen

"Tch, o-of course it was..."

Mario nodded sadly

Sonic weakly sighed, clenching his fists.
