Talon whips around and Ghost takes a protective stance on the ground.
"What is what?!"
Talon whips around and Ghost takes a protective stance on the ground.
"What is what?!"
Hunter crosses his arms. "That's exactly it. You don't know what might happen. " He turns back around.
Talon glares at Hunter and ghosts lunges, biting onto Hunter's leg.
Talon laughs a moment and then straightens himself again.
"Okay, Ghost, that's enough. Hunter, don't do that again, everyone's on ege enough as it is."
Both Talon and Ghost resume their search through the station.
"You should also know that I don't warn anybody if I see danger. I just attack." Hunter mutters. He smells the wind. "Ugh, I smell rot."
ooc: can you guys please wait for the other roleplayers?
Ripley scanned the gas station up and down, crouching to massage the end of their stub leg. It looked pretty clear. They straightened up, and took out their weapon, the baseball bat. They kept the bow and arrows strapped to their back, along with the backpack they'd carried along to keep supplies in. They stepped towards the building, feeling an eerie chill, as they always did every time they saw another emptied building. A couple of abandoned cars, rusting with doors that hung open, sat in the parking lot. They saw movement in one. They turned towards Beretta, and placed a finger to their lips in a motion to be quiet. They stepped closer, as quietly as they could, raising their bat. And something leapt out. They started, almost reflexively hitting it, but they quickly realized it was a scrappy-looking tabby cat. It hissed at them, but they weren't startled this time. They lowered the bat, and knelt down, holding out a hand. The cat cautiously moved closer, stretching out her neck to sniff their hand. They turned to Beretta. "I think there's something else inside the car." They heard something squeaking inside.
The floorboards actually looked fine. There must not have been much water that leaked into the house, or any at all. The roof was still holding up. Rosalind stepped outside, and circled the house. The shingles were there, but they looked worn. Maybe it would be good to replace those. She mentally added that to the list of supplies. The gutters would need to be cleaned, too, to keep the water from wearing down the shingles even more. And the back porch was definitely getting a little precarious. It would be good to fix that up, too. It was a good thing farmhouses like this were built to last. As she circled the house, she noticed the old pasture. The metal fences were rusted, but maybe they could be fixed up. If they even had any livestock to put in there. She shrugged. They wouldn't be getting any milk anytime soon. She hadn't had it for years, and she probably wouldn't have it anytime soon. That was fine. She would love to see if they could find any chickens, though, looking at the chicken coop. She would love to have some fried eggs again.
➶- MARJANI
Marjani already had an arrow notched, but refrained from pulling back. She found that if she waited too long on a shot, she had a higher chance of missing than if she had just fired quick, and trusted herself to make it. She had too many doubts when she held it too long. Far too many. Marjani allowed Sputnik to lead just ahead of Ev and herself. They weren’t out of sight of Hunter and Talon quite yet, but they seemed pretty occupied amongst themselves.
☤ - ZARA
“I’m sure.” Zara answers, deadpan as ever. Though she is slightly confused- she did notice Isabella… scanning her, so to speak. Zara wasn’t sure what she was looking for, but apparently she hadn’t found it. Zara squared her shoulders. If she could deduce one thing, it’s that Isabella was doubtful- her glance down at her stomach told Zara that much. But she had never been good at reassurance. Zara reassured people by giving them the facts- outcomes she was certain of, that they would live through this, that there was nothing to fear, et cetera. But she had no facts to give her. Realistically, Zara could guarantee absolutely nothing. She frowned slightly.
★ - KEANU
Keanu sighed. Very, very loudly. He could be doing literally anything else. Counting sinks like Colt. Going out to scavenge with Ripley. Maybe.
He was very adamant about his side, and Alani seemed equally headstrong. “Beretta’s older than you. And she's been using it for a lot longer.” He said plainly. He had never liked how much of a gun nut she seemed to be, but at least her brother Colt agreed that nine year old kids shouldn’t be toting around guns- not even in the apocalypse. Alani was perfectly safe at the farm with the rest of the group. He still had no idea why she was so insistent on going out into a zombie-infested wasteland where she could potentially die, but Keanu presumed that she was just trying to prove something. But he wasn’t about to let pride get her killed- or worse, dead but walking. He shuddered at the thought.
♟ - ALANI
Alani frowned. “Not by that much.” She muttered. Colt had just gone by them- Alani hoped that maybe it would’ve been Beretta or Annie, so they could tell Keanu what’s what, but Colt always seemed to agree with Keanu on the topic.
annie —
sensing the eyes that were carefully watching her every actions, she slunk away from the group and approached the store, humming a song quietly under her breath. and without so much as checking the inside of the store, she kicked it open and smirked with pleasure as it swung open upon contact with a loud smash against the wall, shaking the entire foundation. the tiny bell hung at the top of the door frame twinkled softly as she glided inside, observing the contents inside with a curious slant of her eyes.
unsurprisingly, it was dark. however, they'd made the clever decision of leaving when the sun was high in the sky, so luckily a meager amount of light still seeped inside from the lineup of windows displayed at the front. in the dimness of the store one could see the chaos that had unfolded at one point in time, back when the apocalypse was in its grand opening and people ran around like fledgling chickens waiting to be murdered. there was blood streaked through aisle and a display stand that had been knocked over, but there seemed to be a good amount of stuff that could be useful: food, supplies, medicine, maybe even water. things annie didn't really care for at the moment.
upon realizing there were no dead present to entertain her, annie drifted towards the trail of red that snaked towards the snack aisle and past the broken fridges. it lead towards a room in the back, crawling under a door so it gave off the illusion that it was bleeding. she brought out her knife and approached the door, pressing her ear against the cold surface. silence. she opened it.
once again the room was dark, and at first glance it seemed empty. but then the floor shifted and something looked up to observe the intruder, awakened at the sound of her presence. glassy eyes stared at her emptily, and from the small scraps of light that flooded in from the main part of the building annie could see sunken and peeling skin, the blood pooling all over the floor nearly black in the darkness.
"good. morn. ing~" she sang cheerily to the shifting creatures that crowded the room, and then with a smile she drew the door shut.
//i'll be posting germ's intro in a sec hhh,,,,
{Behold my slightly creepy eyesore format for Ev.}

EVENGALINE J. HAWKE
---
Unsurprisingly silent for the majority of the walk to the gas station, Evengaline sticks beside Marjani dutifully and of course gives the goodest boy Sputnik some head pats when they are demanded of him. Truthfully the boy is personally more of a cat person but, while he's sure he'll never adopt one himself even in these trying times, he thinks dogs are equally amazing in their own right and Sputnik is generally just nice to be around in his opinion. When the group of scavengers finally do reach the gas station, Ev is already keen to pick through any and all medicinal supplies the place has in stock but by no means will he be the first to go in. The dead could be walking in there and he didn't bring a melee weapon with him - damn him and his foolishness, he curses himself out in his head. Also it looks dark as hell in there. He's not afraid of the dark but he's also not eager to rush inside. And of course the last reason not to go in right now, Annie is in there. To him that's like three solid reasons not to enter the building right this second. Being sure to stay either in direct sight or the peripheral vision of Talon, the medic casts a glance at his partner as he turns to face the cars instead. He spots Ripley and Beretta already appearing to be dealing with something by aforementioned cars and it looks like a whole hell of a lot more fun than going into the creepy gas station just this second. Ev rolls his shoulders to ease the haphazard tension from them and looks again to Marjani, "Poke around the cars and then head inside?" He offers casually.

➶- MARJANI
Ev doesn’t exactly look like he’s in a rush to get inside- and Marjani understands completely. She’s not that eager to head inside either, and besides- Annie could handle herself. In fact, she seemed to relish in the adrenaline of gutting zombies. Or she just really liked to kill things. Marjani really couldn’t tell. She shrugged. “Sure.” She said plainly, lowering the bow slightly.
Sputnik seemed to be equally interested in whatever Ripley and Beretta had encountered. The dog had put his paws up on the car door so he could see whatever was inside, but he couldn’t quite reach. He opted for sticking his nose through the cracked window to see if he could smell it instead.
She waited until Ev’s back was turned to lean down and grip her leg just below the left knee, where plastic and polymer met flesh. Marjani was honestly surprised the prosthetic had lasted this long in the first place- she had it four years ago when this started (it was almost the same age as Sputnik), and albeit being roughed up, it seemed to still function as intended. Thank god. But her leg had felt like someone had shot a bullet through it ever since they had started making their way over to the gas station, but she hadn’t brought it up- Marjani was reluctant to slow them down. She wasn’t going to stop them over a stinging sensation that she could just grin and bear instead. It had been getting worse lately, but Zara and Ev had bigger problems than her phantom pain. Grin and bear it.
Interacting with Ripley and Ev ( siloueta Evengaline )
Beretta's hand patted her gun as she and Ripley stopped in front of the gas station. She let Ripley do most of the work telling her what to do, but when her attention was brought to the car her gun was out. Pointed to the ground of course, but it was still out. Ev also appeared, (Oh so now he wanted to be with them?) and he and his dog took over. Yeah, she was about done. The girl sighed excessively loudly and sauntered over to the main car in question. She tried to open the shotgun door, but it was locked. "If it's locked, it's no problem." she grumbled, not even bothering to look inside.
interacting with Keanu and Alani ( ROLO. )
Colt probably could have checked the sinks quicker, but he spent a lot of time looking for the fabled basement sink. He did actually find it, to his surprise, and he turned it on. It spewed water from the pipes and he jumped before sighing and turning it off. He wrote his findings in the cool notebook Rosalind gave him. He turned back and passed Keanu and Alani again. They were still arguing about the mission. Colt this time actually walked over and took a second to make sure the conversation was what he thought it was before speaking. He spoke primarily to the older one, but allowed the sister to hear. "I can teach Alani in a controlled environment at some point if that's okay." His attention shifted to Alani as he added "As long as you don't nag Beretta about guns. She's really not as cool as she thinks she is." He held back a laugh; he was still her teasing older brother, and she was still his annoying little sister, and the parallels between the sets of siblings were fun.
//*cough* 45-minute timeskip happened
The driver's door was hanging open. Maybe the rust had deteriorated the mechanism that kept it shut, or maybe the people that left it were in that much of a hurry to get out. Ripley scratched the tabby cat behind the ear, and she started purring, eyes half-shut. However, when they moved towards the door, she hissed again. "It's okay," they muttered softly, "I'm just going to take a look." They leaned in, and peered through the open door. In the half-darkness, they saw eyes, reflecting the sun coming in through the windows. They watched as the cat pushed past them and sat down on the chair in the back, and they were able to make out the kitten next to her. A couple others emerged from under the seats, staring at them curiously. They stepped away from the door. "There's kittens in there," they said, mostly to Beretta, but a couple other people hand hung around. They rubbed Sputnik's ears, trying to keep him a little away from the door so he wouldn't spook the cats. They noticed Marjani looked like she was having trouble with her prosthetic or something. They wondered if they could help with that. They glanced back at the car, figuring they should deal with this first.
After finishing her assessment, Rosalind came back to the farmhouse, finding Colt with Keanu and Alani. She sat down. "No water damage. We shouldn't be falling through the floorboards anytime soon." She glanced at Alani. So, the kid wanted a gun, huh? Great. She wished that there wasn't any need for the kid to even be around guns, that she would want some legos instead, or a nerf gun, or anything that wasn't a deadly weapon. She figured she would put her foot down on this one. "I don't think that's a good idea. Not only can we not spare any ammunition, but a silencer only does so much. It could still attract zombies." She crossed her arms. "Besides, why take the risk of hearing damage and gunshot wounds when we don't have to? There's no point to it. Sorry, Alani, you're going to have to find something else to do." Maybe she could teach Alani a practical skill. When she was a little girl, she very much enjoyed when her father taught her to gut a fish. Then again, she might've enjoyed it for the same reason she became a surgeon. "You could go fishing instead. There's a river nearby, and a couple of rods in the basement. Or you could help clean up the house. Or help us look around the farm." The farm property was big, and hadn't been entirely explored, but if there were any zombies around, they would've found the farmhouse by now. It seemed pretty safe.
Hunter looked up. "Oh, now we're talking." He slipped a spare knife into Strider's collar, cocked his gun, amd took off.
Bump!
★ - KEANU
Keanu was about to refuse Colt’s offer before Rosalind came along. Thank god, he thought- Alani would argue with him day and night, but she (usually) listened to Rosalind. He was almost bewildered at how fast Alani gave up her stance once she suggested fishing. Maybe Alani just really wanted to kill something. Which was equally concerning.
Either way, at least it wasn’t walking, rotting, decomposed corpses. Keanu sighed, smiled, and nodded as Alani tugged on his leg. He turned back to Colt. “You wanna come along?”
♟ - ALANI
Alani was about to give a ‘yes’ to Colt before Rosalind interrupted. Alani stuck her lip out in a pout, before perking up at the suggestion of fishing. “Let’s do that!” She exclaimed, before grabbing the leg of Keanu’s pants and tugging it. “You’re coming with me!”
Rosalind smiled. It almost felt like normalcy, going fishing. "Okay, so, I'll get the fishing stuff in the house. And Alani, I have a very important job for you." She knelt down in front of her. She considered herself better with children than she was with adults. It had been helpful in her surgeon days, when a kid had been nervous, as they always were, before going into surgery. While she never really was interested in having kids of her own, she sure liked them alright. "I need you and Cole to go out into the garden and find some big, fat earthworms. You should find plenty if you dig in the dampest, dark dirt. Then we can use them for bait." She nodded to Alani very seriously before getting to her feet. "I'll grab the equipment."
ooc: i cant do anything w ripley yet sadly :((
Hunter was running now, following the noise to the river. He knew what he would find, and he didn't like it.
Talon and ghost followed. Both were slightly confused, but knew what Hunter must be following.
As the cries grew louder, Hunter dropped his gun, ripped off his jacket, and ran faster. Upon approaching the river, his odd eyes scanned the water, just as a little shape disappeared under the waves. Hunter let out a string of curses before diving into the water.
