Looks like breakfast is a no-show so far. Isabella isn't opposed at all to skipping again as she's used to doing, it's no secret that she hasn't been eating much lately anyways. Allen's death has done a good number on her emotional stability but she's been managing to hold herself together and keep moving onwards. She knows on a deep subconscious level that fasting as she has been is troublesome on several different levels for her. Frowning, the blonde stops at the doorframe and leans against it. She doesn't need to look to know who's speaking to her, "Worried, about many things." She admits, the frown blossoming into a fragile smile as she faces Zara. The weathered medic holds much of her respect, seeing an experienced veteran worthy of that respect behind the apathetic nature of the other woman. It helps Isabella's opinion of Zara that they seem to share an interest in keeping an eye on the younger medic. Izzy regards the older woman warmly as she would anyone else. Even if it is her job to check up on the group's wellbeing, Isabella is decent enough to thank her for it and genuinely mean it, "I'm fine, Zara. I appreciate you checkin' up on me."
it seemed like the pigs were filing in, one after another, giving their necks up for slaughter. while her attention had been mainly focused on evengaline for a moment, her narrowed eyes darted to marjani the next. she parted her lips with a delighted gasp, drawing her tongue over her bottom lip in one swift motion.
the look in her eyes was chilling; it was like she had stumbled upon something extremely curious that she felt needed to be crushed.
the look was gone within seconds and annie smiled at talon, following after the male with a hop to her step. from her waistband she fished out a sleek black handgun. "say, tally-" she cocked the weapon, sending a soft click vibrating through the air. "your little foxy is really pretty, isn't he?" she lifted the gun up until the barrel was pointed at the sleek curve of the creature's back. she grinned. "i would just. love. to wear him, you know?" and then she popped her lips, shifting the gun so it curved into the air, imitating the action of the weapon firing off.
she cackled. "jussttt kidding! say, do you think the gas station will have any chocolate left, tally? i looooveee chocolate. if we find any chocolate i call dibs~"
Talon glares at Annie and holds Ghost closely.
"Never, do that again, and don't call me Tally!!" That was the first time he'd yelled at anyone in the group.
Talon keeps walking ahead, petting Ghost and keeping him protectively held close. That gun trick really ticked him off, and it doesn't help that he doesn't like the nickname either.
★- MARJANI
Sputnik stood next to Ev and happily wagged his tail at the boy- making sure to smack him in the leg with it so he would notice that Sputnik was waiting for him to pet him. Marjani would’ve laughed, but her attention was caught by somebody else. Annie was looking at her- if it was anyone else she really wouldn’t have been that concerned. The look in her eyes nearly sent a chill down her spine. Marjani turned away as quickly as she could, hoping that Annie would get distracted by Talon… or literally anything that wasn’t her. Annie really hadn’t done anything to her, she was just… creepy. It looked like she was trying to piss Talon off. Marjani just silently thanked Talon that he had stuck Marjani with Ev and not her. As soon as Talon started to leave, Marjani did as well.
★- ZARA
“It’s my job.” Zara drawled. She didn’t doubt that it was a genuine compliment, but she really was just looking after her as she would anyone else in the group. Zara genuinely had no idea how Isabella kept up such a peppy demeanor in a world like this. Especially after Allen (who Zara had failed to save) died. Zara sighed. Speaking of looking after her- “Hm. You should definitely eat something.” Zara said. If a person couldn’t stand to eat, Zara knew that something was better than nothing, no matter how small the portion was. Zara fished through her pockets. She had picked it up during one of the recent supply runs, and she was planning to give it to one of the patients anyway. Zara pulled out a wrapped granola bar that she was pretty sure hadn’t expired. She held it out to Isabella. “Just take this, at least.”
Beretta held back a growl. So Ev could go solo but she couldn't? Mleh. It's almost like she was a child or something. (Yah think, kid?) It was time to go, so Talon called that fox of his, Ghost. Beretta liked Ghost; I mean, how cool would it be to have a pet fox? At least until that crazy Annie chick pulled a gun on it. Beretta's hand shot to her own gun, but nothing came of it and she pulled away from it self-consciously. If anyone saw that, she was dead meat. But that Annie rubbed her the wrongest way.
Colt nodded. Of course, Rosalind could handle herself! He looked at his cards in thought for a second before Rosalind offered him something to do. He nodded happily and answered "Yeah! Sure I'll help. Sounds fun. Nice notebook by the way!" He got up and waggled his foot a little before putting his weight on it. It was fine. He could probably have been doing something useful with his time before now. He scooped all his cards into a pile and straightened them out in one fluid move, then picked up the deck and put it in the box. "Where should we start?"
ooc: ShatteredDimensions do you mind changing ur font color? i can't read the black on dark blue w/o highlighting it :((
ic: Ripley felt the sharp knife of panic cut into their stomach as Annie whipped the gun out, and pointed it towards the fox. Do something. They were frozen, staring at the weapon. Even when it didn't fire. Even when Annie put it away, their heart was beating in their ears incredibly loudly. They flinched when Talon yelled, even though it wasn't at them. They couldn't do anything. Annie had been threatening the fox, not to mention the rest of them with her poor gun safety, and they couldn't do anything. They forced themself to take one, two, three deep breaths, just like Rosalind had instructed them, the first couple of times the panic had taken hold. The anxiety remained, but they could breathe again, and start taking steps in the direction of the gas station.
Rosalind offered a half-smile, and glanced down at the leather-bound notebook. She'd always wanted a leather-bound notebook, and it was much easier to afford them when the economy had crumbled and the stores were free-for-all. "Okay, so, I'd like you to see which sinks work. I know the kitchen sink still has running water. But I need you to list the other sinks and whether they work. I think there's one in the basement, and there's two bathrooms." She put her pen to her chin thoughtfully. "And check the showers and toilets while you're at it. Wish we had a plumber with us, but no such luck yet." She nodded at him to go, and handed him the notebook and pen. She figured she would check the floorboards, see if anything was rotting. It hadn't been too long, so it might not be bad, but it would definitely be a problem if someone fell through the floor.
//I'll use Marjani & Zara in the next post
★ - KEANU
Keanu could hear the rest of the group debating on who would go out on this run, but right then he was perfectly fine with leaving them to it. Keanu had been going on a lot of the runs recently anyway; plus, some people had to hang back to defend the farm should something happen. He’d join them next time. Right now, he had bigger fish to fry.
And that bigger fish was an extremely mad nine year old girl.
“You can’t go out on the run with them. Maybe next time.” He said. This happened almost every single time Talon or Rosalind organized a group to head out and retrieve something. Alani wants to go whether Keanu goes or not, Keanu says no, Alani argues. It was almost a dance at this point. “Lower your voice, please. Noise attracts the you-know-whats.”
♟ - ALANI
She desperately wanted to help. But she couldn’t- and her brother made sure of that. “You say ‘next time’ literally every single time!” She wailed, fishing through her pocket, and pulling out the hunting knife that was pretty much her only real possession. Alani opened her mouth to protest Keanu’s last request- but he was right. She couldn’t be too loud, but she did scrunch her nose to show that she wasn’t happy about him being right. Alani held the knife by the handle, making a slashing motion in the air like she was fighting an invisible zombie. “I have this!” She said proudly. “And maybe I could defend myself better if you would let me try one of the guns!” Alani formed a finger-gun with one of her hands, and aimed it at Keanu. “Beretta uses one all the time!”
((Likewise, I'll use Laken when I see an opportune time for her to pop in))
Isabella tilts her head lightly at the older woman, her kind curl of her lips never faltering, "You deserve to be thanked for doing your job. You and Ev don't get thanked enough for it." She responds softly, her eyes of aquamarine searching for something on Zara's facial expression but apparently she doesn't find what she's looking for. She blinks those vibrant eyes at the mention of needing to eat, and the blonde automatically glances down at the large swell of her body. She's grateful but reluctantly so, feeling a tad childish about the fact that she needs to be reminded to eat and be given food by others. She's supposed to be adult and take care of herself, damn it. If not for her sake, then for her child's sake. How is she going to have even a lick of a chance at being a good mother if she can't even look after herself? Izzy snaps her attention to the granola bar, "If you're sure." She says with heavy hesitance, but she's already delicately taking the offered item from Zara's hand. Again she offers a meek 'thank you' and spares a hesitant glance back up at the other woman.
Hunter tied a strip of cloth around his neck and stood. "If we're gonna go, we'd best go now. I saw a few other groups during a patrol, abd the place might have been raided. Let's not test our luck." He said, starting to walk. He wobbled for a split second, then quickly regained his composure. Then he furned around. "By the way. If anyone so much as even thinks about harming Ghost, they answer to me and Strider." He said, recalling the wolf he had pulled from the tunnels about a year ago.
Talon nods to Hunter.
"Nice to know you and Strider have Ghost's back."
he continues walking to the gas station.
*45 minute timeskip?*
(Good idea let's wait for the other RP'ers first though)
Beretta glanced at Ripley in the middle of their panic attack and took a deep breath. Her mere presence probably gave that paranoia personified a mini heart attack. The child gun nut followed her buddy, walking backwards to keep an eye on Annie, just in case.
Colt's dad was actually a plumber by trade, but Colt hadn't been interested so he hadn't picked anything up. He never thought he'd actually regret it. He took the notebook when she gave it to her, and before he went on his way, he wrinkled his nose in thought and said "A sink in the basement? Whatever you say, Rosalind." He left her to count lightbulbs or something.
The 17 year old walked past Keanu and Alani as the latter was making finger guns. He'd been around the girl long enough to know that she was probably talking about hero-worshiping Beretta. He really wished the child would find someone more responsible to want to emulate.
//Sounds good to me! Also IC opinions and stuff!
Within a few minutes, Talon and the otheers had reached the gas station.
No signs of a rading.
"Okay everyone. Stay with your designated partners, search the area for anything useful. Meet back here in about an hour or if anything seems off."
Then Talon took Annie and Ghost with him into the station. He also made sure that Ev stayed close enough to keep an eye on the medic.
//45 min timeskip done and Annie has her chance sunchips. be ready Evengaline
Hunter pulled out his gun, reloaded it, and kept watch. "If you find anything sour, grab it for me. That, and a water."
Talon let's out a chuckle.
"Okay, will do. I can't believe that's what you're focused on right now..."
"I'd rather die with a good taste in my mouth than die with my mouth tasting like blood."
"No one's gonna die here, okay?"
"Sure, oka- Aah, what is that?!"
