"Who keeps guard every day and night to make sure you all don't get eaten in your sleep?" Hunter retorted.

Talon looked at Hunter with a raised eyebrow.
"We kind of all take shifts, but I do have to admit that you never seem to sleep."
-
Hunter sighed. "I will admit, you ate a good leader. Even if I'm constantly having to argue with you."

Not one to shy away from the dangers of the undead, Evengaline snatches his own gun - a standard scoped rifle - and takes a spot by the barn door in case his help is needed in any way. He's by no means a warrior, but Ev is still a damn good shot with a firearm and they've got kids in the barn to protect. His expertise goes beyond just medicinal skills and he sees no reason not to take up arms or help in other ways when his role as medic isn't needed. When the shout for his name is heard, he shoulders the gun and makes to stride for the two. He stops at the treeline and waits. If Hunter truly needs medical aid, either the warrior will come to him or one of them will motion him over - of course he'd rather take a quick look at the aforementioned bleeding neck juat to be sure. Until then, he simply waits for either a beckoning or dismissal a fair distance away and leans against a tree as to not disturb the two.
-
"Thanks. You're a good warrior too. We don't need to lose you."
Talon motions for Ev to come over and he steps away to retrieve the arrows that are still stuck in the bodies of the ded undead.

Ripley woke up for the first time in a while with sunlight streaming in through the window. They never slept that late before. They had, in fact, been working hard for the past few days. In order to settle down for a bit, they had to clear the area of zombies. Which meant a lot of killing. Which meant a lot of late nights, lying awake while their heart beat in their ears. But they woke up late. Which was, maybe, an accomplishment, but also sent a surge of panic through them. They got ready for the day quickly, shoving smelly boots on socks that were slightly fresher than the ones they wore before, and headed downstairs into the living area. Maybe they'd eat something. They didn't have much of an appetite.
Rosalind was counting medical supplies again. Not that it would be any different this time. The amount of bandages would still be alarmingly low, the amount of non-expired painkillers or medicine for stomachaches or antibiotics for infections would be none, and her list would still be depressing. However, it calmed her down to count. Just like it calmed her down to count the number of people in the group, although it was lower than it was last fall, or the number of issues with the farmhouse. She needed to keep track of things to keep her sane. She wondered, speaking of keeping track of things, where Evengaline was. The kid was helpful as hell. She figured he went off again, though. Being helpful, as always, but reckless.
-
Giving a shallow nod to the beckoning motion, Evengaline leans off the tree and walks over. He casually steps over the corpse of one of the biters, "He's right you know," He murmurs to Hunter as he approaches, "You're a good warrior, and we can't afford to lose anymore good warriors." Indeed they can't. The seasons have taken their toll on the group's numbers. And the group's supplies. It hurts to think about, but Ev knows there will be little he can do for Hunter's neck this time around with their limited stockpile of medicinal items - he quietly hopes that they will at least have something left to keep infections at bay. The fact that the gash is still able to bleed and hasn't scabbed over means that infection taking hold is still possible. Nonetheless he's determined to be helpful, green eyes calm and concerned. Ev holds his hands out slightly, palms up, in a vague pleading gesture, "Please, Hunter, let me or someone else at least check on it."
-
Hunter rolls his eyes, taking off his makeshift gauze and tilting his head.

Talon comes back, wiping his arrows with a handkechief of his own.
Usually he walks quickly, barely putting weight on his sprained ankle (For future reference, his right ankle) but this time he's slow. He hasn't eaten in a while, leaving the food for the rest of the group and even though he sleeps, it's plagued with nightmares which causes it to light, so he is exhausted as well. Due to being slow, he winces at each step as he puts weight on it for the first time in days.
-
Ripley watched as Talon walked into the room. They remembered their crutches, which they hardly used despite doctor's orders, unless their leg was hurting too much to walk. He looked like he was tired, too. Ripley felt a jolt of guilt for having been able to sleep, despite the fact that the nightmares and the thinking usually kept them awake, and the obvious fact that them sleeping didn't make it so Talon couldn't. Their sleep didn't negate his. But still, they felt guilt. They searched their bag, and pulled out that old pair of crutches they'd looted from a pharmacy with Rosa, back when they first lost their leg. "Hey, Talon. If you want, you can borrow... these." They realized that he might not want their help. They figured, though, that they might as well offer.
-
Talon looks over to Ripley and pushes the crutches back to them.
"No thank you. I do appreciate the offer though." He offers a small smile.

{Guess my health classes and medical studies are finally paying off in this roleplay.}
Evengaline takes the head tilt and removal of the bandana as a positive, choosing to simply overlook the eyeroll. He's dealt with worse than little eyerolls during his time with the group, "Think of it this way," He heaves a deep sigh, moving in closer to get a good look at the yet-healing injury, "If nobody looks after it and it infects because of that, you'll have a serious problem. And likely a slow, draining death if it would enter your bloodstream. We don't have any antibiotics ledt to combat that kind of infection." He tells the other, bluntly but not at all rudely. The injury has bled down the neck and shoulder, and Ev hums in concern. The blood flow is likely due to either excitement or adrenaline from the fight, leading to elevated heart rates. He knows from past experience that wounds bleeds more heavily whenever the heart rate is high, sending more blood to the injured area. It's one of the many reasons that those with open wounds are coached to not panic. The fact that the wound is on the neck makes the amount of bleeding more concerning, "It seems to be doing well but you really should keep this covered with clean wraps at all times, not just when it bleeds, until it scabs. If we have any disinfectant left, you should use that too. If not, clean water will do just as well." He murmurs decisively. He's no professional doctor but the kid knows what he's doing and what he's talking about, and he's no stranger to improvising when supplies get low. Now satisfied, he steps back. There's not much he can really do for it with their dwindling medical supplies but advise Hunter to keep it wrapped and clean it out. It pains his heart to not be able to help much.
-
(You took health classes? Awesome!)
Talon turned when he heard the part about clean water.
He started towards the two and starts digging in his pocket. He pulls out a small water purifier and holds it out to Hunter.
"Here, you can use this."

Aya followed after Lenore, nearly bouncing in her enthusiasm. The girl stuck close to the woman as she'd been told to do multiple times by others, always stick close to and stay in sight of an adult when outside. She watched the arrow fly into the target with rapt attention, thunking right into the bullseye mark. In her opinion, Lenore was super cool right now. Aya gazed at the arrow in awe, then looked up at the warrior with wide eyes, "How'd you do that?"
-
-- Lenore smiles at Aya. "Here..." Lenore gently grabs Aya's hand and places her where her herself was standing. She takes her arrows off of her back and places them on the ground. She then positions her bow correctly in the young girl's hands. Lenore stands behind Aya, grabbing an arrow, aligning it in the bow, then guiding her to pull and let go. "And you must remember to aim carefully with poise. That is how my mother taught me. Poise and posture, darling."
-
Ripley nodded to Talon. That was fine. They didn't have to be helpful. They listened when Evengaline started talking, quietly and carefully. They liked to listen when Evengaline talked. They always seemed to learn something. Of course, they already were aware of wounds getting infected, mostly due to personal experience, but they still enjoyed listening to his voice. At the mention of clean water, they spoke up. "I also think there might be a well attached to this house. It's not close enough to the main pipeline for it to be practical to get water from there. One of the faucets is still spitting out water." Of course, they weren't sure of the quality. But if it was a well, it would be deep underground. It was unlikely that anything got into it since the farmer who lived here used the sink for clean water.
-
"Oh, that reminds me," Hunter stood, pulling out his compass. "There's an old gas station to the south that hasn't been raided yet. And if I know gas stations, there's bound to be medical supplies. "
-
Talon thought a moment and then decided on something.
"We can go check it out later today. I'll come and we'd love to take HHUnter since he seems to know where it is. Ev, would you like to come so we pick up the right things?"
-
Ev swivels his gaze over to Ripley at the mention of a well and a working faucet. Offering a small smile to them, he gives a nod of thanks for the information seeing as how nobody else seemed to acknowledge their words. Green eyes flick back to Talon and Hunter, "Gas station meds will have to do until we can scope out a pharmacy." Pharmacies seem to have most of what they need for their medical emergencies. Some may think scouting a hospital might be better, but Evengaline knows from experience that hospitals are usually too risky to be worth it without a larger group. He sighs quietly and looks over the barnhouse, "I should probably stay here in case I'm needed, but of course I'll go if you want me too," He answers, ever loyal and willing to do what ever Talon asks of him. He should probably go find Rosalind if he isn't required to go with them to the gas station, likely taking stock of what all they have again as she's been known to do. He often finds being in the company of the older leader is rewarding in more ways than one - he has and still is learning a lot from listening to her.
-
Ripley stood up. After they'd all settled down here, their leg had been aching for days, but it had recovered from the journey, mostly, at this point. "I'll come." They wanted to be helpful in some way. They would feel shitty if they were just sitting around doing nothing, and even though they didn't like fighting, they sort of craved the adrenaline. Besides, an extra pair of hands never hurt when it came to getting supplies. "Do you know how long of a walk it is from here?"
Rosalind stepped out of the room she'd claimed as her own and her medicine cabinet. She heard the tail end of the discussion in the main room. "It's alright, Ev, you can go if you want." She felt a jolt of worry in her stomach, but she knew that it would be helpful to have him out, looking for things. "And don't worry about the expiration dates. No one's gonna get sick from most expired medicines. It's just less effective. And see if you can find some more bandages, alright?" She gave them a firm nod. "Be safe."
