Ezili

NAME ; Ezili

NAME MEANING ; Benin goddess of beauty, water, and love. She lacks a last name as she came from a small, secluded village that had little to no contact with the rest of the world. Last names had no value for them.

NAME ORIGIN ; A goddess that was looked up to and extremely respected by her village.

NICKNAME ; Ezi (Sounds super similar to “Izzy”)

TITLES ; Adesuwa (usually a name, one surrounded by prosperity)

AGE ; 19

ABILITIES & POWERS ;

- Water manipulation : This isn’t in the way you think. For Ezili to control water she must become it. This may sound weird, but let me elaborate. So it’s a given that Ezili can breathe water as well as she breathes air, this comes in handy when she goes into her trance. When in the trance, her eyes go from and icy blue to a glowing white. When like this, her consciousness goes into the water around her, she can trap people with it, attack them, etc. Sometimes she will surround herself in a sort of ball of water, to protect herself. She does this because she is extremely vulnerable during her trance. If someone were to get to her and cover her eyes, it would keep her in this trance yet unable to control the water. She would be incapacitated until her eyes were uncovered and she would be completely out of the trance and awake. She would most likely be confused and feel quite out of place as well.

- The in between : So as I said, to control water her consciousness is in the water and she goes into the trance like state, but, there is an exception. When she is using her draining ability she can be in either a completely tranced state or semi tranced. Her eyes will glow white still and she with seems sorta out of it, but she can manipulate it with hand movements. Healing is much more calm and requires minimal touching. Draining something completely though is a bit harder, and either contact with a body of water she is controlling or physical contact is required.

- Moisture harvest : This is just that she can pull moisture out of things and use it. So unless she is in a desert she can find a weapon anywhere she goes. This is her most dangerous ability as she can completely drain someone of moisture, killing them in a very painful way. It’s brutal and she takes no joy in doing so, she avoids it if she can. At the same time she uses this ability to heal people, because when she takes moisture from any natural element she can use it to heal. Often times she will take some from herself in a dire situation to heal someone. After she will only become a bit dehydrated as long as she’s smart about how much she uses.

FAMILY ; All of her family members live in their hidden village deep within the jungles of Nova. She has no siblings and her parents are both alive.

HISTORY ;

Ezili has a very curious past that made more sense as she grew older. Her mother had a very difficult pregnancy, many were sure that the baby wouldn’t survive. To be careful, when the time came for her to be born, her mother was placed in a body of water. His was due to ancient beliefs installed into the village about the healing and benifical properties of water. Much to their satisfaction, a seemingly healthy baby was born! But as soon as she was born they could tell something was off: the infant hardly looked like anyone in the tribe. She had pale skin and hair, and eyes that were akin to ice. The most noteable, though, was her tall and semi pointed ears. Many soon came to believe that she was the goddess Ezili reborn and named her such.

Ezili grew up fairly well and with little pampering despite the villages belief that she was, ya know, a goddess. The village ran on a very peaceful lifestyle and were fairly quiet people, and Ezili wasn’t much different. That is until she was about thirteen. It was a seemingly normal day and Ezili was bringing water back for the village from a near by river when she and he few girls with her were confronted. It was horrifying, their village hadn’t had visitors in years and liked to keep it that way. These people didn’t seem friendly either, they said they came as representatives of the kingdom of Nydunyth. They requested the girls lead them to the village and when the young girls refused, threatened and eventually tried to attack. Suddenly Ezili fell to the ground, her eyes glowing white. The other girls screamed and came to help her up, but stopped as they realized a wall of water surrounded them. Taking a closer look they realized that every attacker who touched it shriveled up and died. Their bodies wrinkled and... drained? Eventually the attackers were all dead, every last one, and the wall fell. The girls hurriedly carried the unconscious Ezili back to the village and told of what had happened. For the most part everyone was ecstatic, but also afraid of the invaders return. Ezili later woke and trained from then on in order to protect her people. She harnessed her abilities, turned into her dragon form for the first time, and at 18 left her home. She decided to find out who attacked her village and keep them from ever getting to them again. She has learned about The Dragons of Azuna and her role. On her so far brief journey she has learned most of what seems to be the most well known language but still struggles sometimes. When she meets her fellow water dragon she will likely be ecstatic about the telepathic communications.

FUN FACTS :

- She loves learning! If you are talking about your past, and object, a place, anything really she will be glad to listen and have plenty of questions!

- She is kind of embarrassed of her trance state and honestly terrified of someone getting to her when in this state. She is much more comfortable using it in a group setting.

- Although she doesn’t trust everyone easily, she reads people pretty decently and depending on how she sees your character she may be quicker to trust you. Once Ezili trusts you you have her unfaltering loyalty!

- Gives a weird amount of hugs?? Doesn’t understand it’s not always appropriate??

- Tries anything she thinks is edible??

QUESTIONS ; Hmm nothing really, I’m just wondering how they’re all really gunna meet up? Also, if her history is okay? It might be a little far fetched but I liked the idea! If you don’t like it I can try and come up with something else :))
