    Witches aren't born, but made.

This is what muse a's mother told her, when the girl started to show her magical ability. Her powers were vibrant. The oven lit and the cookie jar floated to her when she sat in her highchair; Rain poured from ceiling when she cried; birds flew to her fingers when she stepped outdoors. She would be a powerful witch, if she was trained. But her mother would not allow that. "Witches aren't born, but made," she would say as she scared off the birds and snuffed out the flames. And she refused to make a witch. No one knew why; She had her reasons not to pass on the magic. She smothered her daughter's magic as much as she could.

But by the age of 18, muse a knew she was different. She knew she had magic in her veins. And she wanted to be made into a witch, a woman of peaceful power. And so muse a ran away from home to find someone to teach her the magical ways.

She showed up at the doorstep of muse b, a young but nevertheless powerful witch who was gifted and respected in her field. Muse a begged and pleaded with muse b for the girl to teach her. And eventually, muse b was broken down, and decided to let the girl stay and learn.

//so basically this'll be about muse a learning about magic from muse b and the two girls living together in this new environment. Muse a is very powerful but hasn't honed her magic, so lots of accidents happen. But her sweet and younger nature rubs off on the more closed off muse b, and eventually there'll be some romance between them. I'll be playing muse b. Leave a short form for muse a and we can get started!

Ari had been up since before dawn. She had stood over her books and her spells in the library. It was the only space where she was comfortable; Every other room in the house felt foreign. It was the library, where she studied and worked and tried to live up to the unlivable standards she'd set, where the girl felt she was truly in her own space. Everywhere else she felt was borrowed, unfilled by her or anyone else.

So she woke as soon as she could wake and left the unlived space that was her bedroom to head to the library, the place where she felt welcome. And she worked. It was all she was capable of doing, all she wanted to do. She found herself working mindlessly, not thinking, just reading and writing and practicing her craft.

Normally Ari would spend all day like this, working until she thought she would pass out where she sat. But this day was anything but normal. After only a few hours of work, the girl was interrupted by a sound she'd never heard before. It startled her; made her jump, to hear anything unfamiliar in the quiet house.

    A knock on the door.

Ari sighed and stormed to the doorway. Whatever this was, she hoped it would be quick. With a sigh she threw the door open. "Yes?" she said with a bite to the girl who stood before her.

  • finally free, estrella was finally free. after years of being convinced that she wasnt special, estrella finally had enough. she was special but her mother didnt want to acknowledge this fact. she had made the decision to run away in the night, for if she ran away during the day her mother would question it. of course, if she had to run away, theoretically she already made the perfect story. she had been planning this escape for months, her abilities had always been there, connected to her emotions. she had to get it under control, but her mother would never help her, and her abilities were growing stronger as she aged. she didnt want to accidentally hurt someone.

so here she stood, in front of a strangers house, hoping that either they knew someone that could help or they could help her themselves. it'd only taken a few moments after she knocked on the door, she received an answer. well here goes nothing.

    u-uh, hey? i need help.

Ari looked down on the girl who stood before her with a glare. She seemed crumpled up and broken. Like a lost puppy, Ari realized. The girl's words betrayed that: Help. She needed help, and didn't even know what that meant.

But there was something deeper in her that Ari could see, something a witch not as pronounced as her might not. She saw an aura about the girl. An aura of power. Raw and real, magical potential that had yet to be honed at all.

"... Yes, I can see that," she said back. Her expression by now betrayed her confusion. A young, untrained witch, showing up at her doorstep for 'help?' She didn't understand it. "And what, exactly, do you need help with?"

  • it's uh.. kind of hard to explain. i promise i'm not on any sort of drugs or anything like that. she clarified. there she goes, nervously rambling about god knows what. estelle didnt even feel like she had to promise this woman that she was on drugs, she couldn't put her fingers on it but she sensed something within the woman. she felt as if this woman would understand what she was going on, but she didn't really feel as if this woman was going to help, maybe she knew somebody that could help her instead, she hoped. i'm going to make this as quick and as simple as i can, yeah because she was already doing such an amazing job at that already, ever since i was a young girl strange things happened around me. its like my emotions affected the environment around me. i-if that makes sense.. i tried to have my mother help me but she kept saying something about 'witches are made, not born.' or something like that.. she was rambling, a lot. the point is i'm a witch. and my powers are growing stronger everyday. i need help controlling them, i don't want to hurt anyone or anything by accident. well, she got to the point eventually.

Ari pursed her lips. The girl's story was sporadic and hard to follow--she jumped from point to point quickly. But Ari thought she had an idea of what was going on. And certainly, she knew how to help a young witch in need. Though she didn't exactly like it.

She looked over the girl in front of her one last time and gave a sigh. She couldn't leave her alone, by herself. Witches were like kin, and Ari simply couldn't let another one stay like this. "Okay," she said as she stepped to the side. "Come on in now. Would you like some tea?"

She led the girl into her kitchen and let her sit down at the table as she put on the kettle. "So, what are you looking for? A teacher?"

  • all estrella could do right now was hope that the woman in front of her would take sympathy towards her, and it looks like she didn't have to wait for long because she invited her in. wow, even after all that nervous rambling estrella did? there was definitely something special about this girl too, estrella just couldn't tell whether it was because she was like her, or if she just had a lot of sympathy in her. estrella nervously thanked ari, walking into her home. aww, it's so cozy! she thought looking around the house as she made her way over to the kettle.

i'd love tea, thanks, she started. did she need a teacher? all the reading she had done online told her that all she really needed was a book and practice. estrella could always make do with a space where she could freely practice her power, but having a teacher would be nice too. she felt as though she would be at an advantage if she did accept training from a teacher, after a few moments of thinking about it she answered, yeah. i was hoping you might know a thing or two about witches. maybe you know a witch, maybe you even have a book i can read out of?

Ari couldn't help but laugh. "Oh, yes. I know a witch or two." So this girl didn't know anything, Ari thought to herself as she got the tea going. The witches who were born with their craft all knew each other, or at least knew how to spot each other. Ari rarely came across a witch who didn't know her name or reputation; She was, after all, one of the most powerful witches in the area.

But this girl had no clue who she was. It was almost refreshing.

She sat down at the kitchen table and patted the spot across from her. "My name is Arianna. I... I have quite a bit of experience with witchcraft. And if you'd like, I suppose I could teach you to use your magic for yourself." The girl looked down at her fingertips as she heard the kettle begin to whistle.

Ari didn't even look up; Instead she simply snapped her fingers.

The kettle fluttered in the air and made its way over to the table, while the kitchen cupboard flew open and two mugs jumped out. In a matter of seconds the two cups were filled with tea and sat before the girls.

Ari took a sip and looked up at the girl across from her. "That, of course, depends on your willingness to learn. I can only teach so much."

  • estrella watched in absolute awe as the mugs from the cupboards flew to arianna upon command. she remembered doing something similar like that when she was younger, things that she would get yelled at for doing, even though it was obvious she had no control over it. she was done having no more control, with newfound confidence she walked over to the table and took a seat next to arianna.

i'm willing to do whatever i have to. whatever it takes to get these powers under control. she told her, wrapping her hands around the mug, not taking a sip from it yet as it was probably hot and would probably burn her.

by the way, its nice to meet you arianna, my names estrella. probably should've introduced herself before she started to get exited about training her magical abilities.

Ari gave the girl a curt nod. It is very nice to meet you as well, Estrella." She took another sip of the tea and let her finger swirl in the hot liquid. Whether it was her training in the elements or her simple time spent around the heat of tea, Ari could only barely feel the sting of heat that came with the steaming beverage.

"Do you need a place to stay?" Estrella seemed lost, disoriented--not like someone who had a home. "I have a spare room here, if you'd like. For the time being."

Ari didn't know why she was doing this, truthfully. Offering up her home and her time seemed foolish to the girl. But there was something about Estrella, whether it was her power or her childishness, that made Ari want to help her. She wanted to teach her. It was a feeling she'd never had before.

estrella smiled, looking at the cup of tea that sat before her. it was true she never had experience with magic but every so often she would do something magical with intent. copying ari's moves she put her finger above the steaming cup of coffee and swirled her fingers around. she wasnt really sure what she was trying to do but she ended up sucking all of the steam and she was guessing heat from the beverage. well, at least she didnt have to wait much longer to start sipping on the tea.

not even really fully paying attention to what ari was saying she gave a little nod, a place to stay would be nice, for the time being. she said, wrapping her fingers around the mug and bringing it up to her lips.

Ari watched carefully as Estrella removed the heat from her tea. Yes, it was clear this woman had power--and quite a bit of it--regardless of how much she knew of it.

She nodded at the answer, clacking her nails on the table as she thought. "You can stay here, then. I've never used the room anyway." Ari truly didn't care if the girl stayed with her. She already didn't feel at home in this house, and it was far too big a space for one girl.

"We'll need to have a routine." That was all Ari cared about; Her time was the only thing she saw as important. She bit her lip as she thought. "You can work in the library in the afternoons. I'll teach you then." She looked up at Estrella with an exacting stare. "We can start as soon as you'd like."

  • ESTRELLA ROSE ALDAINE - WITCH - SPEAKING

a routine? estrella mentally groaned at this, but she supposed if she was really serious about working on her powers -- which she was -- she would just have to get used to it. either way its not as if estrella was going to stay with ari forever, it was only until she learned how to control her powers. it shouldn't be too bad.

estrella nodded, quietly sipping on her tea listening to ari, she was going to suggest that they start today but truth be told she had been on her feet for a while and needed to rest if she was going to be any good.

maybe we can start tomorrow? i need to rest, and i'm sure you have to get somethings ready to start training me. she told her.

Ari gave a curt nod. "Yes, I suppose I could use some time to prepare, and I'm sure you could too." The thought of putting together a lesson plan almost made her excited. A grin slipped onto her lips as she thought about what she would tell the girl, how she would begin to teach the art of magic. It was exhilarating, to her at least. She looked back up. "I can show you around the house, if you'd like. And get you set up in your room."

  • ESTRELLA ROSE ALDAINE - WITCH - SPEAKING

oh! estrella smiled, she was all for exploring unfamiliar territory, but estrella almost felt bad. it would be different if she knew arianna, she wouldn't have to worry about breaking anything and the other party getting mad. but she didn't know arianna and she didn't want to get kicked out before she even started any training, i'd love a tour!

Ari nodded and rose to her feet. "This is the kitchen and the dining area, of course. Follow me." She led the girl back towards the entrance of the house and pointed to a room to the right. "That's the living room. Not that I do much living there--I don't even know if the tv works. I suppose you can test it out, though." She turned to the left. "And that's the library, where I spend most of my time. That's where all the witch books and supplies are." She turned towards the stairs and headed up to the second floor hallway. "The first door to the left can be yours; The first door to the right is mine. There's a few other spare rooms up here, and a bathroom at the end of the hall. If I'm being honest, I haven't been around this house much. All the furniture was here when I got here, and I've barely touched it. You might be more at home here than I am."
