Loki’s breath was heavy and his eyes tired as he arrived on the border, paws traipsing the edge in anticipation. He hadn’t travelled very far this time. The sandy beaches and wide, rolling fields of long pale grasses had eventually stretched to relentless desert on one side (a landscape in which Loki would surely perish), and on the other a dense forest where the sunlight filtered away. The remnants of comforting green light having faded away from his teleporting, Loki’s eyes raised to curiously inspect the thick foliage overhead, humming in careful contemplation. He was reminded of the fabled Svartalfheim; hopefully he didn’t meet any creatures quite so heartless.

Ralsei had only been here for a few days, so... he felt a little weird being the first to stumble across his man, standing at the border with a pensive look in his eyes. The bespectacled cat let a little smile curve his maw as he made his way over to the other, standing before him eventually though having to look up because of how... vertically challenged he was. What joy would a short journey have been for Ralsei! Instead, he and Kris had to trek for almost a whole day to get to their destination, which was quite a task for legs so stubby. The light, too, had stung his eyes- he'd spent so long in the Darkness that light other than his own was terribly unfamiliar to it, and even still it slightly burned his glow-in-the-dark gaze. "Hello there," Ralsei greeted the stranger, his voice soft as always. He didn't know how much this confident-looking male would appreciate that, though. "You're at the Shadow Veil border. My name's Ralsei; can I help you?" he asked, figuring this would be a joiner, but it never hurt to make sure.

Serpentine green eyes flickered down to inspect the rustling ferns and the creature which would subsequently emerge from the foliage, though his chin remained raised slightly toward the sky. Loki was not the largest canid out there, but he was taller than many, but seeing such a disproportionately sized feline have to peer up at him was a little surprising. He supposed he had to give the mortals one thing — their short lives meant that they had to start their duties and responsibilities early for a full life. Loki still believed that children shouldn’t need worry about the affairs of adults.
Shadow Veil. The name rattled around his skull and pressed on his tongue like ink, testing itself in his head. It was a fitting name indeed. Lowering his slender cranium to fully regard the youth standing before him, Loki’s mouth pulled into a line of a half-somewhat-smile, his tone simple when he spoke. “Yes, you can,” he answered with a small nod. Beside him sat a satchel full of books and herbs and other knickknacks which were his; stolen goodies, but his nonetheless. “My name is Loki. I’d like to join.” Oh, how so easily he gave away his name lately. What had become of him? Mortals, he would conclude, and their stickler rules.

Another joiner? At this rate, they were going to need to start putting name tags on people. While Preacher welcomed anyone who wished to join them, his brain had become nearly overloaded with all the names and faces he had to remember. Even so, he was not afraid to ask at a later date for them to repeat their names, hell, he might completely forget someone from now until then. The black feline had yet to really forget anyone due to all the memorable personalities that had be thrown at him the past few days. "Then welcome," rumbled the duskguard as he padded forth. "My name is Preacher, one of the duskguards around here. Do you have any questions?" It was becoming an automatic habit for him to introduce himself and inquire if the joiners had any questions. At this point, he might as well invest in a tape recorder.

—— AMBROSIAPAW AETERNUM ——
Ill believe it all, there's nothing I won't understand
"Welcome to the clan," Ambi would purr, stepping out of Preacher's shadow with a glittering smile. Honestly she felt the same as Preacher. But hey, at least she could rest easy knowing this was the newbie's first time hearing it. Sitting beside Preacher, she'd look over the immortal and tilt her head to the side. He seemed like an interesting figure - Loki, was his name? Cool, she liked that partiuclar Norse god.
"Speech."

It had been maybe a day or two since her own 'joining', so as Maiden approached she was eager to remain in the shadows. Her bi-colored pelt didn't help much in the way of disguise (so it would come as no surprise if someone saw her). However, she was still not comfortable with greeting any stranger she found on her own explorations. Green optics, wide with apprehension, eyed the veilers whom had trickled in one after the other. They each entered the stage with a different aura.. The first with inquisitiveness nipping at his heels, the second seemed to feel a sense of duty involved with this (what had become a sort of ritual almost) and the third with a sense of joy. This third creature she recognized from her own joining -- though she seemed a lot happier to see this Loki character than she had been to find Maidenwaters. That was to be expected though. Maid knew how off-putting she was without her crutch. Her observations were backwards, ending on the joining when he should have been her focus. He was the outsider here in this situation but she hadn't spent enough time here to distinguish herself from this 'title'. Loki was an enigma to the molly and, now that she had delegated appropriate time to inspect him, felt herself grow more curious about him. "Where did you come from?" she spoke unfiltered, the sudden voice coming from her own maw giving her a bewildered expression for all to see. She could not see her words floating in the air between them, but that didn't change that fact that they were out there and there was nothing she could do to change that.

Acception was so easily acquired granted he maintained an aura of simple friendliness and innocence. Loki didn’t have to play dumb — he merely had to look pretty, answer questions, and he could be on with his day. Gaze sliding toward Preacher and Ambrosiapaw, his head tilted in gratitude. “Thank you,” he would hum, eager to pad off and disappear for a while.
There was always the instigator, however. Maidenwaters spoke with such an abruptness that she likely hadn’t even meant to; words materializing in the air when they should have stayed in her throat. Loki remained cool despite the sudden inquiry, shrugging his shoulders in veiled melancholy. “Nowhere at all,” he lied through his teeth with such silklike words that no one would be able to tell, but a white lie never hurt anybody. “I’ve been searching for a home. That’s all,” he said with a touch of solemnity, placing a small smile onto his face. Third time telling the same half-truth solidified it to everyone, including himself.

The next to approach was a young boy by the name of Junekit, whom settled on the side of Ambrosia naturally as he peered up curiously at this stranger. The way he talked was a little weird, as was his expression - he seemed like a sort of sad person. Junekit wondered if he ever smiled? "Hello, Loki," The youth greets, a kind smile touching upon pale lips. The boy sits on his stomach, tail wrapping around his thin frame. He seems to shiver in his own fur but it was just him not really feeling all too well at the moment. "I'm Junekit... I hope you find a home with Shadow Veil. We're pretty nice." Maybe all Loki needed to smile was a place to call home? And maybe a family? It made Junekit happy when he found Sprucenight and his new siblings! "Would you like to be shown around? I think I'm a pretty good tour guide!" Their pale blue eyes shining, they extend their offer amicably towards the newcomer.
