  • — In the midst of their travels, Kris had met an unlikely friend along the way. Most of the time, they were not one for having company. They kept to themselves, shutting up and only talking when it was absolutely needed. That changed, though. When it was snowing, and the kiddo didn't have a place to go. That's when a dark figure appeared, calling to them and they had huddled into a cave together. With nothing else to do in order to pass the time, Kris and Ralsei just sat near a small fire, talking to each other.

It's there that Ralsei revealed some sort of prophecy or something, something that might have a prophecy, at least. He said that Kris was one of the heroes, a notion the knight would have genuinely scoffed at. Kris, the quiet kid. Kris, the kid whose tail was broken by a bully. Kris, the one whose mother held their head. Yeah, right. Them, a hero? Never.

Ralsei, on the other paw? He was a true hero. After all, Ralsei didn't keep to himself. Ralsei always offered his help, and was often the first to say how things should have gone. He was always there, always willing, and not in the slightest morally black.

Something snaps them out of their thoughts, a scent hitting their nose. Oh, this must have been the border. The hero sits down, lifting a paw upwards, holding up their anime protagonist style fur, to scan the area. Crimson eyes lock onto multiple places, landmarks and such, before they drop the fur again. Hearing pawsteps behind them, they turn their head to look at the companion behind them. "Well, we're here, Ralsei." Pie Kid meows.

  • Ralsei had no clue how long he'd been wandering around without a home until he'd met Kris. He was a bit... well, inept, street-wise, and was thankful that he'd managed to run into the other- he'd surely have been eaten by some sort of bear or rabid beast without their help in finding a shelter, and supporting the two of them. He was practically a walking Happy Meal, both in stature and demeanour, and he was blissfully ignorant of that fact. The other feline was easy to talk to, and the ebony tom would be lying quite a lot if he said that he didn't enjoy their company. And he was convinced, utterly convinced, that this was one of the three Heroes from his prophecy. He wasn't sure how much Kris believed him, but hey... he could convince himself that they did enough to stay happy. Happiness did not come to him with difficulty.

He'd never have painted himself a hero, either- he supposed he and Kris were similar in that regard. The boy had never had too much faith in himself- he was mainly built up on faith in others, uplifting them so he'd feel uplifted alongside them. Perhaps it was a bit of a stupid notion, but it wasn't like Ralsei hated himself- nah, he was doing pretty good. He just saw himself more as a... cheerleader than a Hero. Maybe the prophecy was wrong, but... hey, he'd never know about it until it happened, right?

"Yup!" he chirped in response to his companion's confirmation of their destination, trotting up beside them- because wow, they walked fast! Ralsei's short little legs could hardly keep up. "I've never joined a Clan before... do we just wait for someone to stumble upon us?" he asked, his voice as soft as usual as he questioned such a thing, his naïveté to the world terribly obvious. Ah, well... he hoped these 'Shadow Veil' people would be nice to them! I mean, they weren't trespassing, right...?

"Not for long you don't," a voice would chirp from the shadows. Melting out of the surrounding darkness as if she were a spirit born from the abyss itself, the black feline would trot over to greet the two. Shadows swirled at her feet and stretched impossibly behind her, making her look at once bigger than she was and far more imposing. But the brightness in her lemon and umber eyes promised a much nicer chit chat, and with the accompaniment of her easy smile, she looked rather like the cheshire cat's much more friendlier twin.

"Welcome to the shadow veil! 'Name's Ambrosiapaw, who're you two and what's your business?" she'd inquire, sitting down and wrapping her black tail around her paws, eagerly awaiting their answer. It had been a while since the Veil had had two joiners at the same time. It warmed her heart always seeing such close bonds between two creatures. It also lent hopeful certainty that there would be a lot more paws to help out around the place now.

    "Speech."

  • The thin child would make his way after Ambrosiapaw, his bat-like ears swiveling forth upon his head as he hears his sister greet the newcomers that stood at their border. His tail wavering slightly behind himself, the youth plops himself right beside the ebony furred girl and bumped his head gently against her leg in greeting before he turned his attention properly onto the two strangers in front of them. "Hello," He wheezes his greeting, a small cough worming its way through his throat and rattling his chest. He pauses for a moment to catch his breath before continuing onward, smiling weakly, "I-I'm Junekit. It's nice to meet you." The young Aeternum never got to properly greet people at the borders. When he'd joined Shadow Veil, he'd only been a two month old kitten that constantly tripped over himself ( he still trips over himself but far less frequently now that he's grown a little ) and he was particularly happy that he got to accompany some of the older Veilers when they went out.

  • — Oh, right. Kris forgot how much shorter the other cat was. They were used to being the small one, the one that was picked on. Having someone with tiny, little legs was odd for them to think of. Crimson eyes fall on the fluffy boy. Ralsei was so outgoing, kind, and gentle. It was honestly a miracle that the two of them were paired up - Kris was kind, yes, but they were also stoic and tended not to do or say much. It was the same this time, the Angora says nothing at first, instead simply nodding.

Their gze turned to the creature coming out of the shadows. Dark creatures made Kris feel uneasy, and they place a paw around their sword. When eyes like gold, like the sun, have no ill intent, they lower their paw. Ah, the usual name and business kinda deal. Kris clears their throat, placing a paw to their mouth to answer but it is then another one joins.

It is then that they see a young child, cream looking, and that puts them less at ease than before. But, then they note the crystal blue eyes and the Siamese markings. Mentally, they breathe a sigh of relief. Outwardly, he first turns to Ambrosiapaw and says, "Nice to meet you. I'm Kris, and this is Ralsei." They point to the black cat before returning back to the matter at paw. "We want to join." Their gaze then goes down to Junekit, and they offer a tiny, tiny smile. "Hiya. Nice to meet you too."

  • There was an inkling of worry in his chest as he took over as the new leader - worry that the Clan would slow to a stop and it would be his fault. He figured, even if he was to become a right and just ruler and have someone as equally, or even moreso, ready for this job, he would always fear the worst. So it was nice to see two felines, both pretty small in stature, settling upon the border and speaking to his siblings. They seemed kind, though joining the Veil didn't require a personality test of any sorts.

He came up on the other side of Junekit, sandwiching the small boy between himself and Ambrosiapaw. He looked towards the two, a small, uneasy smile settling on his face, "It's nice to meet you both. I'm Ambedo and -" he stuttered for a moment, as announcing his leadership felt wrong somehow. He didn't wish to win anyone over with his daunting title, after all. He continued shortly thereafter, his tails swishing behind him, "You're welcome to stay as long as you please."

She smiled warmly at Junekit as he came over, protectively stepping closer to him. She grinned at the two, feeling only a brief sliver of suspicion when she saw them reach for their sword. She easily relaxes though as they do so first, never once dropping her friendly smile. "Kris, Ralsei, we're happy to have you," she said, a moment before Ambedo showed up.

Despite the momentary butting of heads over the whole Exiler-not-Exiler pup thing, Ambi's faith in her brother was never shaken. She snickered, reaching out a paw and ynking her brother close, possibly dragging Junekit into the sideways bear hug, "He's our leader! Don't let his age fool you, guy knows his stuff," she woofed brightly, turning her focus back on the other two, "If you have any questions, need a tour or just want to chat, I'm happy to lend a paw or ear!"

    "Speech."

  • It almost startled Ralsei, the quickness of it all- he caught Kris' brief nod and was about to open his mouth to talk again when his question was answered by a girl who seemed to be made of pure shadow, something which didn't fail to make him take a bit of a step back. Though, his fear almost immediately diminished after he caught her light tone, and noticed the way that Junekit stood so fearlessly beside her. He offered the two of them a smile of greeting, brightness in his demeanour shining suddenly as if someone had flicked on a light switch. Ralsei nodded as Kris introduced him, grateful for their forward attitude- though he meant well and was as friendly as any cat could be, the boy still felt a staunch sense of... nervousness, when greeting new people. Mainly because or terrible inexperience.

Then came the arrival of another, whom Ambrosiapaw later introduced as their leader- and though many may paint him too young for the job (as he seemed to think), Ralsei wasn't really bothered. In honesty, he was too amazed at the whole concept of it all to care about specifics. He grinned at the welcoming party, fidgeting in place slightly due to his excitement, but luckily most of his nervousness was now quelled thanks to the welcoming nature of those gathered as well as Kris' presence. He just hoped he wouldn't be irritating, following them around. They probably wanted to make new friends, in their new home- and Ralsei would too!

"You all have such lovely names," he said softly, a sincere smile resting comfortably upon his face. He looked in the direction of each creature as he repeated their names- because being a good friend was about being a good listener, right? He had to show them that he'd listened. "Ambrosiapaw, Junekit and Ambedo..." the ebony male hummed, grinning widely. "Thank you all so much for your help! Um... do you think you could show us where you make camp?" he asked, tone as polite as he could possibly manage, tilting his head. Their journey had been rather exhausting, at least for Ralsei, so... it would be lovely to find a place to lie down.
