  • Hey there, dear reader!

As the title suggests, I'm doing an interest check for a Harry potter roleplay - of course, I'm only looking for it to take place in the UNIVERSE. I want nothing to do with the official characters for.. Certain reasons. Of course, their history and the way they affected the world around them still takes place, and they're definitely mentioned.. But interaction or relation to them - unless with a dead source of them or a flashback/vision - is definitely off the table. This is because that instead of the 1920's/even earlier, this roleplay takes place in the early 2000s. It's a more modern version of their world.

The thing is, I'd also really prefer it if the characters weren't necessarily bound by the same old prejudices - but having that still on the table. Slytherin can still be seen as sneaky/evil, Gryffindor can still be seen as stupid/reckless, Ravenclaw nerdy/awkward and Hufflepuff Naive/childish - but I'd like their positives spun in a unique light. I'd also really rather the prejudices be more of an "outsider's POV" on the characters type deal instead of the characters embodying those traits exclusively.

The story I was thinking of would probably be a really long-term one - I don't mind if it takes you a while to reply because it does for me too - because it'd start out with the main characters coming to Hogwarts for the first time, going through the sorting hat.. The plot I was thinking of was there was some old curse placed over Hogwarts itself way back when and abruptly, all the factors for activating it are suddenly met. I'm not going to say exactly what the curse was or how it gets resolved, but let me just say that the effect is.. Three-fold.

Of course, this won't necessarily affect the main characters for certain reasons - but the roleplay is in three parts itself.

Establishing the characters as characters and building up the factors, release of the curse, and figuring out the curse.

As you can obviously tell, numbers divisible by three are extremely important to the roleplay itself. There's three factors that must be met for the curse to activate, three artifacts to find, and three segments for the roleplay itself. There can be any number of characters - but I'm ending the amount at nine, for reasons to be revealed later.

As for the advanced part of all this - the minimum of paragraphs I'm asking for is two, I want the sentences to be well-written and descriptive but with uncomplicated language (please, for the love of god, no "his orbs swung around to look at the lithe femme" and such things as this). Aside from that? I would like the focus to stay on the PLOT, not being overshadowed by the characters themselves and having their stuff being more of a subplot type deal unless it actually furthers the main plot.

Now, naturally, this is probably going to be a REALLY big roleplay - with possible 1 x 1 roleplays sprouting up as well making it more complicated.. I was thinking of putting it onto discord if anyone was actually interested in it. What do you guys think?
