Eira seemed to relax some. She uncrossed her arms. "I'm Eira. It's nice to meet you, Zero." She sounded nice, enough, but she was clearly distracted. She kept glancing behind him, as though she was looking for someone or something. Moonflower perked somewhat, but she seemed much calmer than before.

His eyes flicked to his shoulder before back to her, eyebrows raising slightly but not asking.
βHuh... whatβs it like being a Princess?β
Phosphora meanwhile had walked forward, softly sniffing the smaller dragon.
-
Eira looked back at Zero. She was quiet for a minute. Then, softly, "It's not all its made out to be. There are perks, but I would give them up in a heartbeat if I could. I wish I wasn't a princess."
Moonflower sniffed Phosphora back. She chirped softly before resting her head on her legs. She appeared tired.
-
βYea, I can only imagine...β He stretched, gritting his teeth softly as his back clicked.
βI canβt imagine doing something like that my whole life...β
The larger female slowly crouched down beside her, a wing softly resting on MoonFlower protectively
-
Eira shifted her gaze to the ground. She walked over to Zero's side. She glanced up at the taller boy before looking back at the ocean. "If I had my way, I would leave and never return," she whispered. She didn't know why she was telling him these things; she had only ever whispered them to Moonflower in the cover of darkness before. Somehow, it freed her.
Moonflower closed her eyes with a sigh. She rested her head against the larger dragon. Her breathing began to slow. Within a minute, she was fast asleep.
-
βRun away from it all, huh...?β He murmured softly, crossing his arms behind his back slowly.
βLeave Helga? Or just leave this part of the world entirely?β
Phosphora kept a wing around the smaller dragon protectively, yawning as well before resting her head against the ground.
-
Eira shrugged, not willing to give him an answer to that question. After a moment, she looked over her shoulder at him. "What about you? Why do you distant yourself from the others?" she asked. She had gathered as much that Zero was a loner. The reason why, however, she had not discovered. She was interested in this stranger.
-
βA long story, but...β He gave a small shrug.
βI grew up in a bad place with a bad crowd, so... I learned how the world could be, about how often people lie and trick...β He shook his head slowly.
βSo, I choose to not associate with anyone... canβt trust anyone with anything nowadays. Why would I risk my life for someone, when chances are they wouldnβt do the same.β He glanced over his shoulder to the dragons.
βAnd Phosphora... well, sheβs the only companion I have.β
-
Eira gazed at him, her eyes unreadable. Then she looked back at the water. She wrapped her arms around herself. "I understand. But as a princess, my life does not belong to me. It belongs to my people. Everything I do must be for the good of others. The only thing I have been able to keep for myself is Moonflower. But even she belongs to my people." The girl sighed heavily. She appeared like someone weighed down by responsibilities. She closed her eyes, lowering her head. She looked exhausted.
-
β...β He closed his eyes, sighing softly.
βLook, Princess or not... you shouldnβt let people dictate what you do or who you are... and if they ainβt happy, just tell them to shove it.β He glanced to her.
βItβs stupid to try and control people.β
-
Eira shook her head. "You don't understand. My people don't control my life. It is my duty to serve them. Most people think royals direct people and have everything good, but they are wrong. A good king, a good ruler, dedicates their life to their people. I was born to serve my people, to ensure they have the best life possible. To protect them." A single tear slid down her cheek. "From the moment I was born, till the moment I die, I belong to Helga. My life was never my own." She turned around, facing the dragons once more. She kept her face hidden from Zero. "I should be getting back. It's getting late."
-
βWell, thatβs just stupid...β He grumbled softly, turning to the dragons as well.
βBut, whatever I guess... what do I know, huh?β He forced a soft chuckle
-
Eira looked over at him. She smiled sadly. "When you love someone, as I love my people, you would gladly give your life for them. I may not know every single one of my subjects personally, but I love every single one of them. Just as I love Moonflower." She looked back at them.
Moonflower stirred. She yawned, snapping her jaws shut. She rumbled softly as she looked around. Spotting Eira, she chirped. Eira smiled.
-
βSo... thatβs it? Youβd die for a complete stranger?β He looked to her slowly.
βEven knowing theyβll probably never return the favour...?β
Phosphora stirred as well, opening her eyes slowly with a soft snort.
-
Eira held her head high. "Yes, I would," she said with complete confidence. She then walked over to Moonflower. She stroked the female's head, smiling. Moonflower gently nuzzled her rider. The two were clearly close.
-
β...β He closed his eyes, breathing a soft sigh but smiling slightly.
βStubborn, huh? Fair enough...β
Phosphora shook herself down with a yawn, wings spreading out.
-
Eira looked over at him, smirking slightly. "Stubborn yourself," she teased lightly. She then swiftly climbed onto Moonflower's back. The female dragon stood, shaking the sand off of her scales. She roared before leaping into the air. Rider and dragon disappeared into the night.
-
β...β He snickered gently before laughing softly.
βSheβs got some sass... nothing like I expected a princess to be.β
Walking over to his dragon, he climbed on and patted her head gently.
βCβmon girl, letβs head home.β
-
Over the next few days, Eira was kept busy talking to Hiccup and the others. She made promises of peace treaties and alliances, but she claimed she could not sign them herself. Whenever she was not serving others, she was exploring the island alone. Her and Moonflower were rarely seen thanks to their experience, and the two craved the time alone.
One evening, close to sunset, Eira and Moonflower were resting on a small cliff. Eira had her eyes closed as she sat against the cliff wall. Moonflower was eating on a small deer she had caught earlier.
-
Zero had been keeping busy as well, mostly with him and Phosphora helping the Berkians to fish and gather wood.
Despite his lone nature, he seemed decently keen to help (Even if he occasionally stole bread or the like now and again)
The two had just been flying around the island and skimming the water, Zero standing crouched on Phosphoraβs back with a sword across his back and a spear in both hands, watching the water below.
