Placed in the world of Cowboy Bebop, years after the ending of the show, a new generation of bounty hunters has arrived.

In the year 2074 the Red Dragon syndicate fell after losing all worthy candidates to lead and struggling to keep itself together in the last 3 years of it's reign over Mars. In it's place rose the Golden Sanctum syndicate, an arguably far more confrontational and violent organization with unknown goals that seem to have even the ISSP on edge.

Our characters find themselves in the year 2078. On Titan, one of Saturn's moons, a 2 year war is dragging on and more than enough funny business is going on in the galaxy between secret experiments to outrageous acts of terror on major cities. New technology is threating to wreak havoc on the mottled version of peace that many planets have come to know and cling to.

Even in such a turbulent time, bounty hunters remain on their same old drag, living life one bounty at a time.

Rules

Planets, Moons, and some other things

There are 8 planets in the solar system, but only 4 are inhabited with exception of the dwarf planet Pluto, which serves as a prison run by the ISSP (Inter-Solar System Police). The Cowboy Bebop wiki has a lot more info if you're at all interested of confused.

Some terms for the seasoned bounty hunter:

ISSP: The Inter-Solar System Police (ISSP) is the police force across all inhabited planets and moons in the Solar System. The ISSP often issues bounties in order to help catch criminals. This means any bounty hunter could turn in a criminal for a reward that could be obtained at any police department. The ISSP also has a mainframe on Mars. The ISSP sometimes conducted experiments on people. In 2071, they conducted what they called an "assassination skills enhancement" experiment during which a person was physically and genetically enhanced. The experiment was canceled and one of its subjects, Mad Pierrot, was kept in isolation.

Astral Gate: A device created by the Gate Public Corporation through its Hyperspace Gate Project to enable travel through hyperspace within the Solar System. They made interplanetary travel possible within a matter of hours, a feat not achievable before their inception.

The Ship: The ship our character currently call home, fondly named and know as C'est la Vie, or whatever everyone tends to call it. Vie, as I'm calling it here, is an old freighting ship refurbished and redesigned by Rhye Melanie, it's owner. There are several "dorms" for passengers to live in, a large observation deck big enough that it serves as the common room as well, a large hangar, a decent sized kitchen, a handful of bathrooms, and a few other rooms. Rhye has personally taken lodging in one of the larger rooms that appear to have been an office previously. The main safe is kept in the observation deck, but another with emergency funds and food is kept in a cubby behind the kitchen fridge.

Planets:

Mars: It is the fourth planet from the Sun in the Solar System and has been terraformed in the 21st century and became the most populated planet. It's a great place to live if your rich. Mars colonies were mostly built inside large craters on the surface, covered by artificial atmosphere that is constantly replenished via large devices at the edge of each "crater city". In this way, a colony could be established with atmospheric and climatic features similar to those of Earth. Large cables connected different crater-cities and covered highways allowed travel between. Each city is very urbanized, so think New York City or Tokyo for the more wealthy parts of it. This is also where Sanctum, the most powerful syndicate in the solar system, calls home.

Earth: The origin of human beings, and the third planet. Nothing good comes from earth anymore. In the 21st century, the average temperature has risen since the previous century, creating more arid and barren landscapes. Much of the earlier structures remain as ruins. A "Rock Shower Forecast" is produced over radio signals in the style of a weather report. With an ever-changing topography, landmasses are divided into "Sectors" rather than countries or states. The rock shower forecast predicts the likelihood of meteorites in a given sector. Satellites and electricity are still available in some regions for the potential of television and Internet usage. Not a lot happens on earth, and most of it's residents are on the poorer side the spectrum too. Levels of civilization vary, but large congregations of people usually live out of the ruins of old cities.

Venus: The second planet in the Solar System. It was terraformed in the 21st century and has an Astral Gate. Using floating islands covered in plants, which converted carbon dioxide to oxygen through photosynthesis, Venus has a breathable atmosphere. Venus doesn't have any natural seas, so most of its surface is a vast desert. The atmosphere of Venus has a high content of helium, which causes people to speak in a high-pitched voice, but is otherwise harmless. Pills can be taken orally to counteract the voice modulation. Not a lot goes on here either, however there is an active black market here.

Jupiter: The fifth and largest planet in the Solar System. There are several terraformed colonies on its moons Ganymede, Io and Callisto. Due to the presence of several colonies, there are several Astral Gates in orbit. (i actually couldn't find much on what Jupiter has, but i'm assuming that it hasn't been terraformed yet, just a few of it's moons)

Moons:

Titan: A moon of Saturn. It was terraformed in the 21st century and its climate is largely desert with windstorms. Titan was the site of the Titan War and subsequently underwent scarring from the conflict.

Callisto: An ice-covered moon of Jupiter, and the third-largest moon in the Solar System behind Ganymede and Titan. Callisto was terraformed in the 21st century, though only barely, as it was a cold and desolate natural satellite. Existing on the outskirts of inhabited space, Callisto had become a refuge for illegal groups and trades, and the population is almost entirely male. As such, there are also very few families or children. The moon underwent a financial depression in 2071.

Europa: A moon of Jupiter, it was terraformed in the 21st century. It is mostly a desert with the landscape littered with "Land for Sale" signs. Inside walled cities on Europa, temperate climates are artificially produced. The walls of the cities actually keep the climate within the cities themselves sort of like a giant refrigerator, except the inside is warm and the air is not arid. It seems that the reason that this moon is mostly desert is because it's in the early stages of being terraformed. Europa is also part of some trucking lines. There is a syndicate based on Europa called the European syndicate.

Ganymede: The seventh and largest moon of Jupiter, as well as the largest moon in the Solar System. It was terraformed in the 21st century by heating its original thick layer of ice to reveal a great seawater ocean underneath. With very little natural landforms, Ganymede is primarily used in the commercial fishing industry to harvest animals such as the Ganymede rock lobster and the endangered Ganymede sea rat. It has 8 million residents. The moon was on the outskirts of inhabited space and did not have access to many new technologies before the Astral Gate system reached it.

Io: The innermost major moon of Jupiter, and one of several terraformed moons in the Solar System. Io has a dry and airy environment, seeming much like a desert, though there are a few towns with roads. Large plateaus and cactus dot the environment. Most towns can be considered rural.

Personality: He comes off as quite non-confrontational and unobtrusive, not exactly living up to his polite, well-mannered, and courteous upbringing. He is actually quite quirky and often leaves people quite perplexed with his actions more often than not; he's no stranger to doing some weird things when left with nothing to do. Rhye is very observant and can be very cunning and calculating, however, due to his time wandering through space from planet to planet and having so many close calls with death, he's grown to be a bit more on the "goes with the flow", lazy and relaxed side of things as he's grown older, his personal motto being "what happens, happens." He seems to be very unconcerned with things, a prime example of this being how casual he often is during violent confrontations and gun fights. Despite his rather relaxed demeanor he, like every other living thing, has a bad side; his just shows it in a rather roundabout way. When Rhye is upset or angry he will usually put up a fake smile and act like he's let things go, but in truth has a very long memory despite however hard he might act like he doesn't. During times when "he's in his feels" he'll hole himself up in his room or just generally keep to himself; he has a policy of not letting others see him sweat or generally see his emotions due to hard times he's fallen on in the past because of them. With that being said, he is a very closed off sort of person; if you think you know him you're probably dead wrong. He justifies this by saying its for the good of his friends. Speaking of friends, for those he actually grows close to, he'd literally do anything to make sure they're safe and happy; he considers his friends his family and loves them very much (he's a tiny bit aware of how hard he makes becoming his friend so he highly values the effort someone would take to become well acquainted with him). However this makes his hatred just as strong, should you hurt him; he doesn't really seem to take betrayal by his friends very seriously, often able to find a reason why someone might do such a thing and perhaps even passively joke about it, but it's more of a mechanism to ease the hurt he might feel when betrayed by someone he is close to.

History: Rhye was the first son of a rather wealthy and high ranking man in society; he was the leader of one of the bigger syndicates on Mars that even gave Sanctum a run for it's money. He grew up being groomed to take over the syndicate after his father, and was thusly thrown face first into gang politics and received "the best education a man could get in this day and age", as said by his caretakers a countless number of times. Because of his importance to the syndicate he had guards with him everywhere he went which left him very frustrated and unhappy. During his younger years he was very rebellious and tested the waters of his father's anger by sneaking out and ditching his entourage of guards, among other things, at any chance he could get. Unfortunately, he learned the hard way why he should never disobey his father. After running off for practically the hundredth time—he was around 13 years old, almost 14 back then—his father had finally grown very fed-up with him and ordered him be captured as soon as possible. Rhye was presented to his father and punished harshly: he received lashings with a whip, was burned with a hot fire poker and imprisoned in his room without food and minimal amounts of water for over 2 weeks. After that, he became the obedient child his father had always wanted, despite how much Rhye loathed acting in such a way.

On his father's orders, he became a high ranking officer for the ISSP under a different name and more legal background in order for the syndicate to get a better foot hold in the organization, the goal being to one day take over the ISSP for themselves. Unfortunately, after a few years of being a successful and well liked officer, gathering information and reporting to his father all the while (from age 18 to 24), and doing anything that people asked of him, he was outed by someone who had suspected him from day one. After getting the proper evidence to expose him, a copy of his actual birth certificate, pictures of him with leading syndicate members, and other things that identified him as who he really was, a warrant for his arrest was put out by the ISSP. Thusly, he ran for the hills. Only, he didn't go running to his father and the syndicate, he went off on his own and practically erased himself from existence. As it stands, he currently is considered dead; he faked his death on Earth by rather unsavory means and fled to Mars where a few old friends helped him out for a while. It was there he was able to get his hands on his beloved ship, C'est Ia Vie.

Head canons/Trivia:

— a chain smoker, fat chance of finding him without a pack of smokes on him (he has a bloody stash!)

— enjoys a good beer too; his preferred poison is bourbon though

— an ass man through and through, he's not afraid to appreciate; of course, he can admire some good boobs too

— an excellent cook despite his upbringing; it was one of the few freedoms he was able to enjoy after his unfortunate experience when he was 13

— he would run to the ends of the galaxy to get his hands on his favorite drink ever: ramune (his favorites are the melon and cherry flavored ones)

— he tends to sleep quite a lot, and gets very peeved and "bitchy" when woken up

— can play the piano and violin like a pro; he says he's really rusty, but could take either instrument and play likes he's never missed a day of practice

— absolutely loves listening to lo-fi music and enjoys some old (considered vintage) music, like Led Zeppelin, Green Day, Rush, and more

— keeps a few succulents. he finds them really cute

— he is terrified by birds and refuses to be near them

— he has a tendency of forgetting to eat so he's quite under weight

— thoroughly enjoys having company and talking with people in general, even if they only talk about stupid stuff

— usually only passively adds to conversations and doesn't usually start them either; of course, again, he does enjoy talking with people a lot

Nicknames: Goldie

General Role: Mechanic/Weapons Repair. She's not the type to network or anything, but she's helped a lot of people and has gathered a sort of intersecting web of informants and knowledge of the system as well as picking up a few friends along the way and a few favors owed to her for not leaving people stranded. She has an alias for fixing weapons(specialty and/or obsolete) and through that alias or 3rd parties comes into contact with a very wide variety of clientelle from the average collecter to the shadiest mobster.

General Appearance: Darkskinned with a full dusting of freckles in varying densities across her entire body. Dark hair, naturally very curly despite her half-linage, bleached and then dyed one color or another at the ends all the time. Tall with most of her weight centered between her navel and her knees, but more muscle mass than fat. Copper brown eyes and eyebrows thick enough to choke a horse.

Personality: Though she smokes only on occasion, Goldie often seems like the type who's been hotboxing all day. She's usually pretty chill around other people and more in her head than outside of it. That's her default setting anyway. She can get excited about things- mostly its about tools or machines- and geeks out about things she's interested in. She can get upset or angry, in which case, there's a good chance she'll start speaking Spanish- a weird habit seeing as her father was the Native Spanish Speaker and he never did that; only her mother lost her temper. She doesn't like to be confused, and will work hard to figure her way out of a puzzle, conquering it the way others might conquer physical acheivements. Very loyal to her hometown and her mother, she tries to communicate with them regularly, but can't always, and if she goes too long without a bit of face time, she gets lethargic and mopey. Though she tries not to be, she can sometimes be a sucker and willing nearly always to lend a helping hand to someone who seems to be in distress whether that means they ran out of fuel a few lightyears from a gate or they can't find their other shoe. Still, there are those who might describe her as standoffish and a loner. She's not, she just doesn't feel the need to force her way into everybody's business. She is a bit of a gossip though, and loves good storytelling whether something is true or not. Finally, though it's mostly about the money and the adventure now (about a 90/10 split, where it used to be 40/60) Murderers and pirates are two categories of bounties Goldie will always go after.

History: Born on Io to a native resident and a wandering treasure hunter originally from Earth. Her father- the treasure hunter- always had stars in his eyes and a sort of childlike demeanor about him- daydreaming and wishing on stars. Her mother loved him dearly but was much more down to Earth. She ran a regular car repair shop, but would take jobs to fix just about anything as she was the only shop of it's kind on the desert moon for leagues so people had come to depend on her a lot more than just cars which not everyone could afford. It started out as just a few things here and there if people begged and just became a known thing that if something was broken they took it to Diana. In this way, Diana grew to have a lot of respect and influence in her close albeit small community town, and that was something young Goldie looked up to her for. It's what originally got her interested in learning her mother's mish-mash of a trade and gave her the foundations of helping one's neighbor, working hard, and being a perfectionist.

Her father didn't have quite as much respect, being a foreigner, poor, basically a man child, and somewhat naive to boot, but he was popular with nearly everyone he met, and everyone liked him which was what won over Diana who was known for being dismissive of men and their advances before him. He was already good with kids as he talked often about extended family they never saw- a sister on Mars and a Brother back on Earth, both of whom had children. He also never seemed to leave to visit them. It was very easy to fool Pablo, or Bob as many took to calling him for no other reason then that Pablo didn't do well in enforcing that they had miss-shortened 'Pab', and easier still to bogart him into doing things for others. Without Diana and later Goldie looking out for him he would have probably become a pack-mule or so his lover used to say. When she wasn't helping her mother at the garage, Goldie would go with her father out on wild goose chases for treasure around the town, led by some bogus map he'd paid for, or word of mouth from a shady hooded stranger, or just because he had a dream last night that a magical star touched down and gold sprung from the ground like oil. They never found anything but garbage or dirt, but it was always an advneture, and Goldie still keeps a few of those little 'treasures' with her to this day.

Once, when Goldie was almost 18 though, a man crash landed near town. It was a big to-do as very little happened in their little ghetto, and the pilot was the source of all the gossip for the three days he was with them. Diana worked on his ship and people frustrated the hospital staff dropping by to catch a glimpse of him. The man was from Earth, though, so everyone convinced Pablo to go see the man and say they were family, so of course Pablo did, and Goldie went to keep an eye on him. The man was badly beaten, but that's to be expected from a wreck. He was in and out of consciousness, but it's like when he woke up and saw Pablo's face, he went into a panic. When he realized Pablo wasn't a threat, though, he begged him with his dying wish to take an item on his ship and get it to Mars. It was a priceless artifact or something and he would be rewarded handsomely because there were pirates after it. That night the man died. Pablo had been a wanderer to begin with- the road had never stopped calling him it was just that his family called louder. He and Dianna argued after they thought Goldie was asleep. He wanted to grant the dying wish of a stranger, and she didn't want him losing himself in his old ways only to forget about Goldie and herself and never return.

There was tension in the household for about a week after that. In the mean time, Diana had the man's ship up for sale to cover the cost of the repair's parts and labor, and it had attracted attention. Whoever that man called pirates- they didn't seem like it. They just seemed like criminals. They came into town demanding to know where the pilot was, and when they finally believed it when they were told he was dead, wanted to know what was done with his stuff. Dianna told them they threw most of it out and they rooted through the garbage. They started shaking down people around their barrio, accusing them of stealing things, and even mugged a few people just because they were upset when they always turned out to be wrong. The town was clearly getting up in arms about it and were ready to retaliate when Pablo confessed that he probably had the thing they were after. He agreed to fly it to Mars, to it's rightful owners in order to get those people off the planet, and he would send a message when he made it far enough away so they wouldn't catch him before they got there. All were in agreement; even Diana who didn't like it, but was actually proud of him for doing something like this. He left as planned, but as they roughed up some more people, one of them let slip about the plan much, much too early. He barely made it out of teh atmosphere before they were in their own crafts and after him, and the whole town watched as they blew him out of the sky. Pieces rained down, but the group did not come in for a landing to search the wreckage, but high-tailed it out of there as fast as they could. Pablo's body was not among the debris, but the falling bits of his ship did wreck a lot of the town, including Diana's garage.

The town was poor to begin with, there was no business except the towns' business, so when so much of it was destroyed it was basically the entire town's doom. People were forced to pack up and leave in droves. They all decided to have one last day together for Pablo, and hold his funeral as they said goodbye to the town itself. Somewhere they all got it in their heads to search the debris and see if they could find that treasure- it's what Bob would have done after all. Eventually someone found the case, and Diana and Goldie were called to open it themselves. Inside was a necklace- Egyptian looking as a scarab but with what seemed to be an Asian character carved on its back and made of materials that seemed to be Native American. Some were intrigued by it, others confused, but none was as mad as Goldie. This is what her father had been killed over? Who had done it? Why did they want it so bad? Well, the answer was given to her on TV- recognizing their ships and their faces, they were seen on a televised bulletin for bounties. The three of them combined wasn't enough to rebuild the whole town, but she could repair her mother's garage with that. Diana tried getting her not to go- to come with her where they would all move away to somewhere and start anew, but it wasn't just about the garage and they both knew it.

As she left in that man's craft, Goldie promised to send the bounty back to her mother, as she did, promised not to forget her roots, which she hasn't, promised to help out whoever she could which she does, and promised not to let anybody take advantage of her and keep herself safe and she's kept every bit of it. Though she promised to come back, there wasn't really a due date technically set on it, so she hasn't broken that one yet. She still wears that necklace- if the people from Mars want it- whoever or whatever their organization is, they can collect it from her cold, dead hands. She also sends just a little portion of every bounty back to her mother who has rebuilt her garage somewhere new with a few of the other townsfolk who went to the same place.

Weapon of Choice/Fighting Style/Special Skills: Natural with machines, finds most of them intuitive to work on and fix, and yet absolute sh!t at software and programming. Prefers hand-to-hand combat over guns personally but definitely sees the beauty of a gun in unique designs. A brawler more than an experienced or trained fighter, and very apt to use melee weapons, especially large wrenches. Prefers kicks if she has no weapons as her legs are stronger than her arms. Can use guns, but if she has to use something, she really likes things that make 'booms' rather than 'bangs'.

Nicknames: Zura or Z by friends, her alias is the Azure Witch.

General Role: Fence/Smuggler, while she never does the literal heavy lifting herself she knows the cracks in every system. She's got connections into every corner of the system and can get you just about anything there is, and without anyone even hearing a rumor. This also means she knows how to move about undetected, and this extends into moving groups of people without raising attention. Extremely helpful for moving high priced bounty targets without drawing attention from anyone who might want to steal the bounty.

General Appearance: Azura stands at 5'5 when barefoot, which is how she tends to be when moving about the ship. When taking meetings with clients she will wear heels, making her 5'8 and also more intimidating and seductive. Her hair is naturally a platinum blonde, but she's taken to dying it a mix of light blue with light purple highlights. She loves to the color black, and her make-up and outfits reflect that. It's been years since someone has seen her without black lipstick, a winged eyeliner, and long black nails that never seem to chip. Her winged eye-liner allows her icy blue (nearly grey) eyes to pop and catch your attention. She tends to dress in one of two ways, street punk/grunge or classy French with a witch themed twist.

Personality: Azura is never in a rush to do anything, and yet everything seems to get done early or on time. She's organized and clean, and her business tends to be the same despite being on the shadier side of things. She likes to keep her tricks to herself, and as such comes off as a mysterious person. Although she actually hides nothing and will answer just about any question honestly, but that would imply that you knew what kind of questions to ask. She's the kind of person who knows that they're attractive, knows that they have an allure, and then uses it to her advantage when making business deals. It also means that she's confident and is hardly afraid to speak her mind, but usually with the kind of charm that makes you want to agree with her, a silver tongue if you will. It's also meant that she's become flirtatious with most anyone and enjoys teasing people. As such, those who've had prior interactions with her have a difficult time trusting her and so she adopted the same attitude about others. If she was going to con and flirt her way into better deals, why wouldn't someone else? So she's grown to accept the loneliness and solitude that comes her way, but it doesn't mean she enjoys it. When she finally finds someone she deems worthy of friendship, or something even more, she holds onto it and will put in a 100% into that relationship. Be warned, however, that she doesn't take lightly to being betrayed and will hold a grudge for years.

History: For as long as Azura can remember she never had a mother, just a father who wasn't that great. He was a sleazy man that worked in the black market, and much of her childhood was spent either behind the scenes of his operations or being left in the care of red light workers when he was too drunk. It wasn't a bad life by any means, or at least in Azura's opinion. Her father tried his best to keep her away from the crooks, and the women that took care of her in the red light district were always nice to her. That ended up being both a good thing and a bad thing. She caught onto the flirtatious and silver tongued traits of the women in the red light district, and she started to learn the ins and outs of the black market. Using those skills she started to help her father run his business from behind the scenes. That is until an unhappy client stormed their home in hopes of revenge. Her father wasn't a good man by any means, he was a conman that made a living through smuggling and slick words, but he would protect his daughter by any means. When he heard the commotion of the angry intruder, he was quick to help hide her in the closet before the man found them. Azura was only 15, and while she knew she shouldn't, she peeked out of the closet to watch the fight and only ended up watching her father get killed. It took a few days for some of the ladies from the red light district to find Azura still hidden in her closet, and another week for her to stop being withdrawn in her shell. While still living in her home town, the ladies from the red light ended up taking care of her. The death of her father only made Azura work harder at her father's business, which she evolved into her own. She decided to take a less illegal route, and started her work as a fence for bounty hunters until she joined them in bounty hunting. She still acts as a fence for others on the side, and whatever money she makes she always sends a portion back to the ladies that took care of her in the red light district.

Head canons/Trivia:

-Calls most everyone by "Sugar" or "Honey" or "Sweetie", but will add on their name if there are additional people in the room.

-Has never been seen without her black lipstick, winged eyeliner, and nails painted black.

-Gets extremely pissed if she chips or breaks a nail. Starts to cuss in Italian.

-Her closet is 95% black outfits, including shoes and accessories.

-Dyes her hair on a weekly basis to keep the color fresh, and has done that for the past 8 years.

-Her bedroom is immaculate, but she does not have OCD (at least not officially).

-Hides her handgun under her dresses and skirts with a thigh holster, and leaves it visible when wearing shorts.

-Can't cook for her life, but she can bake like no man's business.

-Has a hidden stash of lollipops in her room.

-Despite her claim to leave the fighting to others, she has a collection of guns that she loves to take care of.

-Is fluent in Italian, and has a decent accent when speaking.

-Believes having a "family" meal once a week is extremely important and forces everyone to join.

-Loves a good red wine, but she'll also drink the occasional beer.

-Is medium-weight, but she tends to avoid getting drunk.

-Acts like a small child when drunk, but is quick to fall asleep once she hits that stage.

-Is secretly a physically affectionate person, she loves hugs and holding hands whether in a romantic or platonic way.

-Is willing to talk about her father's death and will act nonchalant about it, but will later go and cry about it.

-Despite being organized, she does not wake up early like most think she would. She stays up late into the night, and wakes up in the late morning.

-Prefers to work in the dark and keeps her room very dimly lit when the lights are on.

-Loves boba tea, green tea, and iced coffees.

-Refuses to wear anything but shorts, short skirts, and dresses that end above her knees. She thinks that pairing those with heels makes her legs and ass look great.

-Loves the 80s Earth music, classical music, and a few other bands.

-Prefers the sound of music through record players, and has a large collection in her room.

-Loves to dress others up, but can respect boundaries.

-Gives killer shoulder and back massages, and is always willing to give one.

-Her most prized possession is an old stuffed panda that her father gave her.

-Has a perfect sense of direction, and seems to have every map memorized.

Weapon of Choice/Fighting Style/Special Skills: She tends to leave the fighting to others, but she is more then capable of handling guns. She always has a hand gun with extra clips on her at all times, and one small dagger just in case of close combat. She's got phenomenal aim and can almost always hit her mark. When hunting a bounty, she has been known to use a sniper rifle to scope out the target and then if needed, shoot them in a non-lethal location to prevent their escape.

i think she and rhye would get along pretty well, maybe nerd out a bit when their jobs around the ship overlap or something, and probably have a lot of fun being absolute trolls when they have the chance lol.

i will make a plotting thread here in a bit; it's like 5:30am and i woke up out of nowhere and had the urge to take a look at FF so i'll sleep for a while before working on anything else. in the meantime, how do you think she and rhye would have met? maybe she did a lot of work to the c'est Ia vie and just ended up staying on board?

Oh for sure, they'd be great friends. I think one of the things she steals when she's drunk is definitely his books- not because their shiny but because drunk!Goldie sees it as a rival dragon hoard. I think she'd also have fun tinkering with ways to forcefully propel whatever homeade explosives he made, and trying to make remixes of his 'grandpa' music, bugging him with her late night hours while he tries to sleep on cat time, tagging his extensive ship with Veve(Vodou symbols) where she thinks he won't find it, sneaking his beer when she has her own brand, and generally being this cinnamin bun leech of a baby sister. If she's been with him long enough, I think she'd feel comfortable being sort of a bother where most of her laid back personality is more just not wanting to cause trouble (even if she doesn't otherwise mind being part of trouble) for anybody, sort of just being a wonky YA. I think after her experiences with her dad she'd LOVE to have an older male figure to be close to again, even if it was much less of/not a 'dad' thing specifically.

As for how they met- yeah that makes sense to me. Could have been something on it broke or took damage somewhere out in space and she answered the SOS blast and it took a week or so to fix and in that time she bonded and got really comfortable on board/with Rhye and just asked if she could fill the role of the semi-perminant on-board mechanic/repairwoman/grease monkey.

— i don't think i put it in his form, but rhye would have gone out on his own when he was around 23 years old, so them meeting like that would be perfect! they could have been friends for maybe 2 to 3 years(?), so i think with that in mind it would definitely be a pretty close relationship (trying to keep the time line of things straight is gonna kill me lmao)! i really like the idea of them having a brother-sister sort of thing, especially since rhye never really had anyone he could be close to and goldie's experiences with her dad would make them kind of cling to one another.

hehe, i don't think it helps rhye that he can cook well. food is the key to any girls' heart in my opinion, lmao.

Yeah, that sounds about right to me- Goldie would've met him around a year after he had left (whether through further plotting he had been by himself that whole time or had encounters with/took in other characters who join). 2 Years is definately enough for Goldie to have bonded with him, especially if she met him right after leaving Io and her family/neighbors- it def would've started off as him filling a gaping vacuum of companionship while also trying not to act like a weirdo about it which would have helped her learn how to be a bit more normal in a new situation.

hahaha, of for sure, you don't get raised Afro-Latina and not come away with an... appreciation for food. She may not prioritize eating over tools, but she does prioritize it over nearly everything else; she's going to be the type sneaking tastes out of the kitchen if he doesn't keep close tabs on those pots and pans...
