A silver tigeress, powerful and yet stunningly graceful, would cross the clearing of Thunderclan camp until she reached the center and looked around thoughtfully. Finally, with a smile on her face she would meow loud enough for her voice to ring with authority through the clearing, "APPRENTICES!" She would stand tall and proud, the sunlight turning her pelt a brilliant silver and making her black stripes stand out even more, "Apprentices, whether or not you have a mentor, I want you all who are in camp to come forward. I have some activities and tests I would like you to participate in." The deputy would then take a seat and wait to see who would come forward. She had been wanting to get more involved in the clan, and what better way to do that then to get the younger generation together for some healthy competition?

  • Had fighting ever been his strong suit? Had hunting ever been his strong suit? Had he been good at anything? Well, that was up for debate. He had once been a pacifist, believing that only barbarians and animals fought as warriors did. But he soon came to realize that life wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, not after committing treason and leaving Bloodclan, abandoning his only family, Ruth. But beforehand he had never been particularly good at fighting. Hunting on the other hand, he was never too shabby at. Especially all the time he spent hunting for Thunderclan just to dump the food off and bounce. A soft chuckle rolled from between matte black lips as he stepped up before Moonwatcher, offering her a hint of a smile. His head tilted with mild interest as he listened to the deputy speak up. Activites? Tests? Pray for me. He thought dryly as he internally screamed. He was never good at tests, and he wasn't exactly the sharpest when under stress or pressure despite what his outward actions may have displayed. Oh well, if he was gonna fail, he'd fail while having fun? Or something like that.

  • Blackstar chuckled as he sat besides his daughter. “Well, are you planning to scare the would-be apprentices with this exercise?” He joked knowing the all too curious kits would watch in amazement. Blackstar wondered if his younger kits would participate too.

🔺🔻🔺 Crimsonpaw was certainly in camp and ready for a challenge. He’d grown in the last two months of him being an apprentice. Now the young tom was a little shorter than his father. Though the smallest of his littermates, Crim was growing strong. “C-can I do it too M-Moonwatcher?” He asked softly, his usual stumble on words ever present.

    I won’t cry anymore

  • Glancing up from where she had been finishing off her lunch, Laurelpaw was quick to dispose of the carcass and move to join her father and sister in the center of camp. Licking the taste of prey off her jaws, Laurelpaw's gaze shifted to Crimsonpaw as the other approached, nodding a quick greeting to the younger tom before turning to look at the deputy and leader again. "What type of exercises did you have in mind?"

The small she-cat heard all the commotion, and her ears perked before scrambling to her paws and began to trot towards where the gathering of cats are "c-can I join in too?" she asked them curiously. She might be new around here but she also knew she needed to get to know other apprentices and clanmates. Featherpaw shifted nervously wondering if they'd allowed the newcomer to join in the activities, her eyes were wide and curious as she awaited for a response from one of them-even from her own mentor, she awaited for the approval of them.

🔺🔻🔺 Looking to Moonwatcher, Crim knew there was no reason Feather couldn’t go with them. But the young tom would be a little quiet for the time being. He knew he shouldn’t butt in.

Four. A pleasent smile would appear on her maw as each apprentice (and Flaxkit) came forward to participate. The silver tigress would rise to her paws as she nodded, "Good, this should be enough for right now. I want to say how proud I am that you four are willing to play these games and endure these tests. First things first, will be a trial of teamwork and how well you get along with your clanmates. Crimsonpaw, Falxkit. you two will be one team, Laurelpaw and Featherpaw will be another. Blackstar and I will be following each team closely as you WILL be venturing into the forest." She would gather the apprentices and Flaxkit with a swish of her tail before turning to lead them out of camp. "For the first activity, I want to see where you all are in terms of hunting ability. The Squirrels are returning to the forest. So your task will be to work together to catch one."

🔺🔻🔺 “B-But M-Moonwatcher... is-isn’t it un-unfair? L-Laurelpaw doesn’t have to h-hunt with a ki-kit.” Crimsonpaw admired Flaxkit for his maturity and emotional stability. But he couldn't see how they would be able to properly hunt. As the older tom in the pair, he would have to go slow enough to keep up with Flaxkit and his shorter stature. The shy tom was usually easygoing and tried to get along with everyone, but this was important. He was hunting in front of both his father and deputy who was also his sister and the expectation that came with it made him quite worried.

  • Glancing at Crimsonpaw, Laurelpaw's gaze was serene and calm as she addressed her half brother, voice kind and quiet. "Unfortunately, conditions that occur naturally aren't always fair. Of course, because Flaxkit is younger, anyone who is paired with him would have a slight disadvantage due to experience. But this is a chance to show you can work together and perhaps bring down a squirrel as a team rather than as an individual. After all, we need to learn to work with our Clanmates, since we live, fight, and hunt together, right?" Giving Crimsonpaw a reassuring nod, the pale grey tabby turned her green gaze on her half-sister, still pleasant and calm as she offered a suggestion.

"I don't mind switching with Crimsonpaw if he's truly uncomfortable, though." Laurelpaw couldn't make assumptions and say that her half-brother might not get along with Flaxkit, and that was the reason behind his desire to speak up. So instead of assuming things she didn't understand, Laurelpaw offered up her compromise, not really minding either way, just looking forward to working with other apprentices.

    speaking thoughts

  • Blackstar spoke up watching his son, then his younger daughter speak their piece. Focusing his one-eyed gaze on the youngest of their company, he asked Flaxkit his opinion. “Well, hearing that, what is your opinion. For you both to work together definitely shows a lot since if there is a disadvantage, it means you’ll have to work harder and push past expectations and the obstacles that keep you from the goal. Flaxkit, do you think you’re willing to work with a tom who is not willing to show or put effort because they are afraid to fail? It isn’t a handicap. For all we know, Flaxkit could teach Crimsonpaw the necessary means of hunting a squirrel in a team despite inexperience.” Blackstar spoke, his voice deep and smooth as butter. Calmly, he regarded Laurelpaw, signaling her compromise was wonderful with a subtle nod of his angular head. Looking to Moonwatcher, he wondered if she had anything else to add as well. He wasn’t right on every front, but in this situation he could understand his son’s hesitance. Something he wanted his son to grow out of as well. Finally his gaze settled on the apprentice in question. His gaze was heavy on Crimsonpaw. “Do you wish to leave the group or stay and try your best.”

//welcome to the clan btw, we do have other open threads though since this one has been going a while!

Featherpaw stayed silent as she listened to the other speak. Shifting her paw she looked at them "I-I think its fair, besides I hardly started training yet and Im only 6 moons still" she prompted "Flaxkit and I have the same sort of experience-I don't think it would change the weight of the outcome if we were to switch teams" she said softly before looking at Crimsonpaw with a slight tilt in her head-did he have something against Flaxkit or was it something else completely? She didn't know, but hearing their leader voice the young she-cat jerked her head a bit and looked up at the tom hearing what he had to say towards his own son.

  • Nightpaw stumbled over her paws and her thoughts about joining the rest of the apprentices. Her soft yellow eyes flickered from every cat in the group and her tail twitched anxiously as she hesitated. She took a deep breathe and walked out to where they had been conversing, hoping there was room for another. The young molly quietly stepped out of the den and came up to the group. She took another breath and asked Moonwatcher what she had rehearsed in her head for several minutes. “Moonwatcher, is there’s room for one more for your activity? I’d like to join if I could ma’am”. She tried her best to surname up straight and speak as clearly and as stable as she could in hopes she could befriend the other participants during the activities.

The silver and black deputy would listen to Crimsonpaws concerns, along with the input from the others in her group. Just as she was about to open her maw to answer, another small voice spoke up and she smiled lightly at Nightpaw, "Well then. Lets change it up a bit." She stopped and turned to face the group as she nodded, "you're goals will remain the same, however," Her tail would wave over Nightpaw with a kind yet mischievous smile, "With an added challenge. Nightpaw, if you don't mind, I would like you to play the Role of a loner." She would meet the eyes of the younger cats before her and meow, "When you are warriors, or even still as apprentices with your mentors, you will encounter cats who are not of Thunderclan or the other clans. I want to see how you would interact with an outsider. Nightpaw, you may be as rude or as aggressive as you wish to be. Don't hold back ok them." She would looked at the others and meow, "Any questions?"

Nightpaw felt a warm, fuzzy excitement when Moonwatcher addressed her. Her ears perked to the challenge and nodded excitedly, accepting the challenge wholeheartedly. She began to space out, becoming entirely lost in thought as she began to plan her how to act as a loner. The deputy suggested a more aggressive behavior which was not exactly Nightpaw but she thought of the stories her mother had told her of her aunt; a fearless, aggressive fighter who still had a kind heart. Maybe it was time Nightpaw connected a bit with her aunt. Her mother always told her she looked just liked her so might as well tap into her persona too. With the challenge, she hoped her aggressive behavior wouldn't turn off the others to becoming her friends.
