    Eaglespirit was a ghost of his former self nowadays, slowly floating along like in a dream. He didn't feel like himself either. Nothing felt right, nothing felt real, nothing felt substantial. Maybe that was why he found himself in camp next to the freshkill pile on day, instead of escaping on yet another border or hunting patrol of just one. He sat there, quietly eating a small blackbird that he had caught himself earlier, and had seen no one had taken it thus far.

    //no worries at all!

    After Eaglestar- or she supposed spirit now stepped down she hadn't seen much of the tom, she didn't think she even recalled hearing why the tom stepped down... She had assumed it was for his own personal reasons which she respected immensely, however she had been worried for a bit when she hadn't seen him around much. She seen him here and there of course but... she didn't know. Recently once again though she was beginning to see the larger tom around more and that made her happy, after all he was technically family in a sense right? She knew he had been good friends with her mother who she hadn't seen around in... well forever. She had grown distant from everyone besides Olivepaw now, she wondered if her family would ever reconnect but as long as she could remember they've all been rather distant from each other.

    Padding out of the apprentices den, she takes a moment to look around camp and sees whats all going on. All seems to be quiet and Lizardbounce was yet to grab her for a training session. Perhaps they were taking a break today? She hoped so. Though coincidentally, her eyes eventually did wonder over to Eaglespirit. The tom was currently chewing on a small blackbird, maybe now would be a good time to talk to him? What should she say though? Maybe... maybe she'd just start off by greeting him. Simple things first.

    So the tall mink feline begins to pad over, as she approached a soft smile forms on her features. "Um, h-hi Eaglespirit." She greets as she reaches a friendly talking distance. "H-How are you today? Enjoying the prey? It's been g-getting rather warm out recently... I-I hope prey stays p-plentiful." She tries, hoping it might be enough to spark a conversation if the former leader was in the mood.

    All he could do when his niece of sorts approached him was raise his browridge in question. He truthfully wasn't in too much of a mood to converse at the moment, yet he knew that it would do more damage than help to simply ignore the girl. She was obviously trying to spark some discussion, perhaps even trying to cheer him up. He would entertain whatever plan she had, he guessed. There was nothing else he was doing more important after all, only sulking around. "Hello there, Minkpaw." He stated, nodding his head in greeting.

    Her words caught him a bit by surprise, the thought that with leafbare now away the prey will dry up. But it made sense in a way -- she was too young to really remember anything before leaffall. Was barely alive for the tail end of last greenleaf. All she knew was the cold. "We have nothing to worry about -- with newleaf upon us now the prey are repopulating themselves and those that hid away all leafbare are now coming out for us to hunt. Soon it will be greenleaf and the prey and herbs will be so plenty there will barely be anything to do around." He told her. To be perfectly honest, he was not looking forward to the heat -- more predators would be aout as well, and his thick pelt was a hindrance in the heat compared to the cold.

    Relief flooded over her upon Eaglespirit's assurance, honestly she had not lived to see green-leaf yet, after all she had been born near the beginning of leaf-bare... She was excited to see what it was like during that time of year, she was guessing it'd be like new-leaf but less mud, rain, and even more hot out. That sounded nice to the young molly... "W-Well that'll b-be good!" She squeaks with a small smile, "Well i-if there is nothing to d-do I'm sure L-Lizardbounce w-will just make me sit around camp and do apprentice chores all day... I-I don't like hunting or s-sparring but..." Oh dear, she hadn't meant to admit that out loud. "But... I-I guess at least its not as boring a-as taking mouse bile to the elders o-or cleaning the nests out." She comments.

    "Um... can I-I ask you something Eagles-spirit? W-What was it like when you were an apprentice? D-Did you enjoy hunting and fighting... D-Did you ever have i-interest in... anything else?" She doubted it but... it was worth asking. Surely Eaglespirit would be a natural fighter though right? Because of his size? Minkpaw was noticeably tall but not that tall or anything. "I-Im... just curious y'know though... N-Not asking for any specific reason." She murmured, shuffling her paws anxiously against the ground.

    Minkpaw's eyes went slightly wide at his statement, and the giant warrior had no doubt that she was trying to imagine what greenleaf would be like. He let her imagination run as wild as it most likely was, knowing that it wouldn't be too much longer before she would find out for real. To see what this greenleaf will hold in store for the clan. He hummed in response to her words. "Different cats have different skills, and different interests." He stated.

    And then....oh boy. A question about what he was like as an apprentice? Oh boy indeed. This made the tom pause a section, not sure what to say. That he was a real idiot and menace? That he spent a good portion of it in Bloodclan captured with Twilight? The trial where everyone thought he killed Bloodclan's leader? How him and Sparrow didn't do much alone, and Eagle was clearly the worse twin? There was.....there was a lot about his apprenticehood that was better left in the past. His only interests back then were his twin, Twilight, and watching the rest of the world burn until it matched the storm inside.

    "You must understand that I was not here for a lot of my apprenticeship. And when I was I was still the cat that my situations made me, namely the abuse that I -- as well your mother, Flint, my twin Sparrowsong, and all the rest that grew up together -- went through. I had little interests in things, outside of myself." He admitted, eyes training on the dirt in front of him. He wasn't proud of it, but to pretend it didn't happen would be worse. It only went to show how he was someone who not have been given power, how he was not someone to care about. His shadows and past were too dark, he had too many sharp edges that are waiting to cut. Sure, they've been wrapped in a nice layer of fat and fur, but they were still there, hidden.

    Abuse. That word made her shiver as it was spoken out loud. She didn't trigger any unpleasant memories did she? She hoped not... it seemed recently she had a habit of doing exactly just that though, just a few weeks back it had been because she had somehow managed to bring up Lizardbounce's parents or something of the sort, and now she might've done similar to Eaglespirit. Great. For awhile she was unsure of what to say but after a few awkward moments of silence from her she opens her maw to speak again. "O-Oh... sorry i-if... my question brought back anything... painful." She murmurs quietly, ears briefly flattening as she would shuffle her paws against the grass.

    Getting the hint this wasn't the type of conversation either of them would most likely want to continue she sits there for a moment contemplating something else she could bring up, something that wouldn't bring back painful memories. Minkpaw wasn't much for politics, but she was curious on what the former leader might have to say about Morningstar's choice to cut ties with both DarkClan and BloodClan and remain neutral with all the others. She wasn't however looking for a debate... she enjoyed listening to other cats opinions and not exactly speaking about hers. "Um... so I-I know by now this is old news, but w-what are your thoughts on Morningstar's c-choice to cut off ties with BloodClan and D-DarkClan as allies? I-I'm just curious..." Personally, she agreed with it. She hadn't heard much good honestly when it came to BloodClan, but she couldn't exactly say much for DarkClan which kinda proved the point.

    The warrior just raised his brow with a ghost of a smirk on his lips as she fumbled to try and take back what she assumed was a mistake on her part. "Don't worry, if I didn't want to mention it then I wouldn't have said it." He pointed out. He did not say things haphazardly: every word, every tone has a purpose. For her second statement, that was a lot more tricky. He wondered if he should talk politics with the apprentice, pausing a second, before he figured that it couldn't hurt.

    "I agree with it -- in fact, I was planning on dropping them as allies in any case. Bloodclan's alliance was due to Jasperstar's sentimentals for Caledon and was a disaster and mistake from the start. Darkclan has apparently forgot about our close history and friendship, and thus so should we. The only thing I disagree with -- and why I had personally waited as much as I did to drop them -- is how I feel it's a mistake to drop all our allies without finding new ones first. We just are lucky Caledon isn't leader anymore -- as he would have certainly retaliated for breaking away, and we would have been vulnerable with no one to help." He stated flatly, before turning to her. "Why do you ask? What are your thoughts on the matter?" He questioned her, blue eyes intense in his stare.
